I recently heard of Robert's passing, and I just wanted to say that his novels were a highlight of my life and he will be greatly missed.

I was introduced to Robert Jordan, as I and many others know him, through a librarian, as I am sure many others have been, and many others will be. His Great Work has touched me deeply, and continues to do so in countless ways. To say that I am thankful to have known some part of his greatness would be a shameful understatement, and at news of his passing, I feel as great a shock as I would at the passing of a close family member. To Harriet, Wilson, and the rest of his family, I can only offer my deepest condolences, a small and poor payment for what you have shared with me. To Robert Jordan, you gave me a very special lens through which to view my world, and a world into which I could escape at times when this world seemed to be turning to the Shadow. You have been with me through many hard times, and you will continue to be a hero to one who thought heroes had long since gone to dust.

My heart sank when I heard the news. His masterpiece is not finished, yet his epic will live on.

At the beginning of each book he mentioned his life his love Harriot, my deepest sympathies go out to you. Your husband has touched many lives with his literature including my own. Know that he will always live on in your heart as well as the hearts of all of his fans.

The world is a smaller place than ever before. people in countries all around the globe can learn about people in other countries and of their lives.

what's good to know is that even in times such as these there is a mass of unknown faces and names that have read RJ's books and that they will still continue to read them for many years to come.

know that the work of a great writer and an assuredly good man will outlive us all.

I'm a Wheel of Time reader from the Philippines. Robert Jordan's been part of my life since 1998. I'd like to thank him for his work, his struggle, and the way he reached out to people through his blog/interviews/letters/books.

May he rest in peace, and may the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

My heart is with you Ms. Harriet, may he rest in peace with God and with the love of millions of people whose life's he touched.

Wow, for the longest time I have said that I hope he survives to see his last book published. He is a wonderful author and the time spend reading his books has and always will be time well spent. My dearest sympathy to the family and to all fans. The world has lost another great author who has touched the lives of so many. RJ you will be dearly missed.

I first picked up The Eye of the World sixteen years ago, when I was sixteen years old. It was a joy to read then, and every time I go back to it, it's like visiting with an old friend.

I cannot say how much I feel for you, Harriet, at the passing of your husband. I first picked up the Eye of the World about twelve years ago to read while on a long trip cross country and, although it was my first Science Fiction book, I could not put it down. I lost the book before I could finish it, but I saw it at another book store a few years later. I bought it and the next few in the series. I finished all that I bought, but for some reason, I didn't continue. To prepare myself for my 2003 deployment to Iraq, I went to the book store and bought all of the books that he had out... and I finally caught up with the last book a few months ago. And then I heard the news... Such a great writer and he was fighting a terrible illness. I prayed for him to finish, not for me to be able to finish his epic, but because I knew a series so well written must be his masterpiece.

I'll continue to pray for him and for you and the family that he left behind.

I heard the news on 19th September on route to a place I had mentally dubbed the Two Rivers just the week before. I was on a tour bus and had by accident overheard the conversation of the two people behind me. I assulted these two people with zeal, had pried all the information from them and had then sat back, stunned and unable to believe it. I had janked out my cellphone, went online and desperately searched through google's mobile search results. Eventually i had managed to find what I was looking for. He had died.

My favorite author had died.

I've been reading his books for over 13 years. They were the first "adult" books that i had started reading. I was 11 and it took me a month to finish Eye of the World.

My love and condulences to his family, and to Harriet whom he had dedicated his books to. The world feels empty somehow and I can not walk past any bookstore without feeling the incredible loss of this Master. I will cherish his books, what he had given me through his series and what I have learned from the pages of his mind.

Robert Jordan, you will be missed - but I am glad that you are now in a world without pain or fear or illness.

I woke up today with one thing in mind, to get the latest news about my favourite author. I was out of the loop for some months now. A sad day for me at the very least. 12 years of reading his books over and over, but still it will never be enough.

My condolences to Rigney's family and friends.

Today I was informed by a friend of what has happened and it has affected me by far more than I would have imagined. This man has changed my own life even though I am young, and I have told his story to my friends. I cannot begin to imagine what it is like to lose someone yet, hence I can only offer my support in spreading his word, since I've been giving away my books to those who would like to immerse themselves in such world. Thank you always Robert.

Thanks for allowing me to enter your world. I know only that your intellectual ferocity was matched only by your will to live.

I enjoyed reading the wheel of time a lot. You have given me an other world to be in.

My condolences to Robert Jordan's family. I only just got into reading the WoT, in fact I finished reading book 11 maybe three weeks ago. I am deeply saddened to hear about his death.

Sa disparition est pour moi un choc, car sur ce site, je le sentais présent, c'était un grand homme, et même si je ne le connaisais pas, sa disparition me fait la plus grande peine.

As RJ said often in his books, "Things like this never happen to the heroes in stories." Our loss is his gain but it doesn't make the loss much easier. I had about the same reaction to this news as I had to seeing the World Trade Towers fall. I feel that some things just should not happen but they do anyway.

Thanks for all the laughs, excitement, and good times RJ. My tribute to you will be the fact that your stories will not stop at me, but passed down to my family. Praying for you big guy wherever you are.

Having read the series only recently (over the last several months), I am a complete newcomer to this universe. It was a terrible blow to learn of the author's passing. I greatly admired his writing and was looking forward to the next book. My selfish thoughts when I heard were probably shared by more than a few others. "What will happen next?" This shames me and I do offer my apologies for thinking of only myself when his death has saddened so many close friends and family.

When I read that he had passed on another website I refused to believe it. I had to go check elsewhere, but when it finally sunk in that he was gone, I cried like a little girl. I have never met him but by reading his books over and over again I felt that I got to see some small part of him. His books have a great place in my heart, and I am a firm believer that a person puts their heart into their writing so that places RJ in my heart. He showed us a world that was entirely his creation and makes me feel like I’m there every time I read them. Someone as great as RJ was only comes around every once in a blue moon, and he will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones and I hope that everyone donates to fund mentioned above.

I am 18 but I began reading his books when I was twelve. When The Knife of Dreams came out I jumped up and down in the middle of the book store! It’s something I’ll never forget and I thank Robert Jordan for writing such an amazing world.
