Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

Thanks for getting me to read books again, RJ. I became a reader again 10 years ago because of Eye of the World. Rest well, friend.

My deepest and sincere condolences. I wish in time like these that I could find the words that heal the aches left in someone's heart. RJ will really and truly be a memory of light for me and for all the people who knew him, and even to all of those that never met him but wished they could have.

Go with the Light. We'll see you one day.

I know this has been said many times but it's true. Our Robert Jordan will always be with us as long as we can read his prolific works and savor the spirit in which they were created. Indeed he will be with this world through many ages and many generations to come. My heart reaches out to his family during this sad time of transition and joy in knowing he is now in the light.

My heart breaks hearing this news. i lost my brother in the 9/11 attacks and the one thing i remember him telling me to do was to read. I really disliked reading. Why read when you can watch television. in 2004 i lost my fatherto lung cancer, he told me to read too. in september oof 2004 i picked up eye of the world and realized how wrong i was. i read the entire wheel of time series in three months. i have never felt such joy and understanding as i did while reading his Amazing and unattainable works of literature. not one being will have his skills in writing. im sooooooo sorry he has left this world. he is upstairs lookin down on YOU. looking down on his family.

now i have to say, when i heard he was sick i said "i hope he finishes the last book before he dies" i must say i am so terribly sorry i even thought that. i appolagize for my insensitivity and stupidity. he was my last link to my brother. i read what my brother read and i didnt miss him.

Thank you Robert Jordan, the one and only Dragon, who kept me in contact with my brother. Please forgive me for my stupid comments about your health. i did pray for you when i prayed. May you always find shade and water. this world has lost the greatest writer, novelist, artist it has and ever will have. Thank you, for making me Want to write a fantasy novel. You inspired me and still do. when i need some more inspiration i turn to the wheel of time as it changes and repeats over and over. Thank you. Thank you and Good Bye

I Feel the same as you. sad...

;((((

I'm quite new in the wheel of time company of fans and readers (about 2 years). Having read up to the 7th book so far my life has changed. Jordan's writing is and will ever be a part of me. I was devastated the day i learned he died. This world is almost real. Epic in every sense. I don't know what else to say... I'm so so soooo sorry about that... BUT "the Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills"

Your greatest Geerk fan.

RIP RJ.

To the family of Robert Jordan,

I am saddened to the core of my soul about his passing. I am 22 years old and I have been reading his books since I was in sixth grade. My mother introduced me to him and my entire family are all fans of the wheel of time series. They have touched me, and my fiance, who has never read books this long in his entire life, I've gotten into reading his series and he loves them. I feel like crying in sorrow for the loss of a truly brilliant, and kind I'm sure, man that has managed to touch my life and so many others. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and may he rest in peace.

Only God knows why this happend. But I know one thing; if I had been God, i hadn't taken away this man. Robert Jordan. I've read his books for quite a long time now, and was very anxious to see what would happen in the last and final book. And then, a tuesday morning, someone tells me that there isn't any writer there to write it down...

May his soul fly high, and see how much we miss him, and how much we still love him.

It's all been said before but that won't stop me from adding my thoughts as well...

RJ, you will be deeply, DEEPLY, missed!!

I learned of your loss by happenstance, I had bookmarked your blog and decided to stop by to see what was new, when I arrived there I got the greatest shock imaginable...I still can't believe it, but everywhere I go, every website I look to for an explanation of this practical joke/prank tells me the same thing...the DRAGON is no more...

To a family who has lost a Husband, a Father, a Brother, and a Son, I want to offer my condolences and my thanks, for sharing him with us for these few years; we are all better people for having known him (through his writings).

RJ, you touched so many lives in so many ways, like an eternal ripple on a shore-less lake, that you will live on both in our hearts, and in the multitude of books you will have inspired others to write. The world (or at least this incarnation of it) has lost, IMHO, the greatest story teller since Tolkien.

I believe your like will not be seen again in our lifetime, but I wanted to say “THANK YOU!!†again, one last time, for the countless minutes/hours/days/weeks/years of escape and enjoyment your Wheel of Time Series brought to myself and millions of other devoted fans.

My God grant you and your family Peace.

I started "The Eye of the World" when I was around 20 years old and I have to say that I was hooked from the start. I am, now, 30 and proud to say that I've enjoyed every volume, since. Never before had I been completely engrossed in a tale to that extent, at that time; I had become enrapt with this vast and complex universe that Mr. Jordan (Rigney) had created. Needless to say, there were many nights when I stayed up waaaaaaay past my bedtime - you know when you just HAVE to get to the end of that particular chapter? :-P My idea of fantasy reading had, indeed, been altered for all the better. For that, I thank you, Mr. Rigney, for allowing us to revel in the chaotically beautiful depths of a grand vision that was put to paper and had come to life for millions. As well, my heartfelt condolences go out to all of his family and friends who had always been there for him all the way up until his, truly, untimely end; I don't think I could begin to imagine your loss. He will, indeed, be missed.

For Mr. James Rigney

Can one give due honor

In but simple verse

To say Heaven's much improved

But Earth a good deal worse.

Rest in peace, sir.
