Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

Robert Jordan was an amazing writer who influenced many people's views on the fantasy genre but to me he was the best writer ever. His works came to life with his humor and descriptions and he became -and will always be- a legend. My deepest condolences to his family but we know he is looking down and feeling great about the support. His works and himself will live on forever in the minds and hearts of his millions of readers. Thank you, Mr. Jordan for making my life so much more enjoyable with your books and personality.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

You have given your best in the service of your country. You have given yourself to your millions of fans and future fans. Your legacy will continue through Harriet, Wilson and other members of your family. May God Bless them all and keep them in his hands. Mr. Jordan was a wonderful man and it showed in how he could be as sick as he was and yet always positive and caring about others in his blog, instead of using it as a "poor me" outlet. I am glad that I have read every Wheel of Time book and will finish all of his other published works.

Thank you again,

Mike Gardner

There is no greater deed possible then to inspire others to do good. In your writings, you have not only inspired millions of people and given them new outlooks on life, but also touched many of us personally. It saddens me to say that I never got the chance to meet you, but I'm sure you are a spectacular man. I hope that you are aware, that in the publishing of the Wheel of Time series, you have stimulated the imaginations of millions of people, causing them, even if only for a few minutes, to change their persepectives. Harriet, you are a wonderful woman. Your courage and strength is something to be admired. I wish you well. In conclusion, Robert, your books have become such an integral part of my life. They inspired me when I first read them and continue to do so to this day when I reread them for the fifth time.

You will be deeply and sincerely missed.

Thank you for all you have done for me.

I was saddened to learn of Robert Jordan's death. I've been reading his WOT series since it first hit the bookshelves. I've re-read the first 7 books at least twice. Some of them three times, as I've read the series through twice now.

To say Robert Jordan and his literary world have been a part of my life is quite an understatement. I've whiled away a lot of northern winters with his characters as company.

RIP Mr. Jordan.

When I had heard that RJ had passed, it was like a kick in the gut. Usually when people move on and I don't personally know them, I feel sadness, but it was nothing like the moment I heard this news. Over a week later, and I still can't believe it.

Even though I never met you RJ, I had come to think of you as an old friend. One who gave me untold hours of enjoyment when I read through the books that you penned. For that you will always have my respect and admiration. God Bless you and your family.

I just read about Robert Jordan's passing and "terrible loss" doesn't even begin to cover it. I am just now finishing reading Book 11 and the news truly comes as a shock. All I can say is that I am sorry I did not discover his books earlier. They are a great inspiration, especially to someone who has been trying to create a world of her own for a while. He just made me think of thousands of aspects I hadn't thought of, before.

Thanks Robert, for everything.

Lucky Angels, to be privvy to your story-telling, now!

To The Family of James Oliver Rigney, Jr.

I sincerely regret and mournfully bemoan the loss of such a wonderful and multifarious man, and though I may never have had the opportunity to meet Mr. Rigney in person, I felt his passing as though a dear member of my family had been lost.

Mr. Rigney possesed an indescribable flair for making his readers feel as though they had most certainly known him their entire lives. With each page turned, each chapter read, and each new adventure experienced I became increasingly enamored with the wonderful and exciting world that Mr. Rigney created.

His stories have warmed my heart, inspired my soul, enriched my imagination, and satiated my senses. His works are and always will remain a permanent fixture and facet of my life. His memory has been and always will be an unshakeable testament to the beauteousness, elegance, and radiance which he bestowed upon all of his readers.

I will always remember the light he beamed upon my life

I will always remember the fascination he kindled within me

I will always remember the gift he gave his readers and the world

The light shine upon you James Rigney

May your soul rest in peace

Yours For Eternity,

Brian David Wright

Each of us are given talents and ablilities to use and develop as we wish.

Thank you Robert Jordan, for showing us how to stretch and grow our imaginations. Thank you for the gentle wisdom that was embedded your words. Words that inspired rather than preached. Each of your characters are people that can identified with. Like us, they have flaws, they have off-beat humor, they have good days and bad, and best of all, they are characters who realize what needs to be done in their world and they have the resolve to keep going even when the going gets tough. Oh that we all would be like that too! Thank you for creating a fantasy world that inspires us to do our best in this world. We may not be able to weild the one power, but with the talents God has given us, we can change our world for the better. I know you have.

To Harriet,

An author's wife must share her husband with thousands. Thank you for your generosity. May you be comforted in the realization that your husband's true work is complete. He has changed our lives for the better in so many ways.

When I was a teen I started reading Robert Jordans Wheel of Time series. I would stay curled in bed until I devoured every last word. Now an adult, with kids of my own to share these stories with, I would still anticipate with flutters in my belly the newest installments of this series. And I found this website. I came to know the man behind the words at least as much as one can in this time and place. I was deeply saddened to know that Robert Jordan, my favorite author (And I have MANY) was ill. But then to see the fight he put up and the fight the family put up, certainly makes one feel that there is always hope and happiness available if you look for it.

Again I am terribly saddened and I am deeply shocked to feel so sad for myself when I hardly knew this man. I can hardly describe the heartfelt condolences I send to his family at this great loss.

He was a fighter, and a damn good one. I have a good feeling he is truly at peace with the knowledge that so many people adored him and always will.

To the family of Mr. Jim Rigney,

I came to know the Wheel of Time book only in 1998,

The first day I left my home country (Malaysia) and reached a new place (Australia), a new beginning in my life. I marked it with the purchase of a book; The Eye of the World. Since that day, I grew up alongside Rand, Perrin and Mat throughout my 18th year and onwards.

The words of Mr.Jim Rigney reached me and the advices and worldviews that he imparted, moulded me as much as my new environment did. Probably more, since I prefered to sit inside and read that series book by book. I eagerly awaited the next twist in the story, slowly escaping whenever things were hard here, and then came back refreshed. Such was the power in those books.

It was always a dream of mine to 'tip my hat' to the man who created this marvelous epic and thank him for the important role it played in my life when I grew up from being just a "farmboy" to a Man. And now I guess, it shall always stay a dream...

Thank you, Jim for everything. In your own words, "There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of time..." Farewell, Mr. Jim Rigney.

My deepest condolences to the Rigney family and everybody here that has felt that Mr. Jim Rigney was "family" too in their lives.

It is a great shock to read that RJ passed away last week. I just finished rereading Crossroads of Twilight about 3 hours ago. My copies of the 11 books are all dogeared for so much rereading throught the years & spending countless hours imagining possible ways the plot/story will next go & comparing it after the next book came out. I am from Cebu City Philippines and was introduced to the series way back in april 1997 when my nephew brought a copy of books 1-3 during our family's annual pilgrimage to the home province during the lenten/ holyweek ( we are practicing Catholics). I finished books 1-3 during a five days period that week with only an hour or two of sleep each day. Once we returned to the city, i bought books 4-7 and always waited anxiously for the next book to come out. It usually takes 5-6 months from the date it came out in the U.S. for the latest book to arrived in the book stores here in Cebu City. My greatest sympathy to RJ's family. I hope that someone will finish writing the lasty book of the series since RJ had already laid down the plot.

The wheel have turned. and we have a new age.

It was a with great sadness I found that he had passed away. My thougths goes now to Harriet.

It is now many years since I found the first book in Norwegian. I bought nr 2 and 3, and the waiting was terribel for the next bok. Then I went for the english books. I am not strong in english, but I just could not wait for them. Of course I run out of them after a while, and I have to wait again. Always when a new book came, I got lost in time and place. Reading evrywhere i could, and work was not so importent. I now the end of the history will come in time, but I whished and hoped that it was Robert that where given the chance to finish the work.

It is a work well done. My he rest in peace.

I just read the news in EW yesterday and I couldn't believe my eyes. He was gone... really gone. I know that it is a story heard a hundred thousand times but I have to say it again. Robert, wherever you are, thank you. You helped get me back into reading and, in a way, back into school. I was in middle school when I read the first book and it knocked my socks off. That book got me back into a headlong addiction to reading and was the primary catalyst for be going back into my schoolwork and on to college.

I also have kids of my own and I have started sharing the stories with them. I admit that my impressions of Trollocs and Halfmen are probably more humorous than scary, but I said that I was a father, not an actor. :) But I just want to express my thanks and my deepest condolances, it is not often that one is so deeply touched and saddened for someone who I have never met and didn't even know I exsisted. But I do swear, we were inches to meeting at a con once but I had to go take care of my patient family who puts up with far too much of my obsessions. :)

Thank you for sharing your vision with us and leaving us your immortal monument.

Let's all think about his death as a beginning for him, no disease, no pain. Good luck RJ.
