Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

I have never met Robert Jordan in person, but having read his beautiful books, I feel like I knew him my whole life. His WoT has touched so many lives, left its mark on milions of people. I think he was an amazing person and a visionary. A great man. He will be missed.

I didn't know about his death till last night. I was searching the net looking for some information about the book 12. And, I stumbled upon the information about his death by pure chance. At first I thought that it was a lie, a bad joke, but once I realized it was truth... Men don't cry, but I wept like a child.

Mrs. Harriet, I know his death is difficult to accept, I too have lost a loved one some time ago, but I hope you will find some consolation in knowing that he is now in a better place, with our Lord, and he will never know pain nor sorrow again. You will see him again, one day. May the Light forever shine upon you path.

Robert Jordan, thank you for everything, and ''may the last embrace of the mother welcome you home''.

Well, I am very glad that he passed peacefully, having a family member die of cancer is a terrible thing to witness, my heart goes out to Harriet.

I never read the WOT books but I did meet RJ at a book signing. I was buying the book for my husband but when I told RJ that our son was named after him he signed it to him instead. Son is now 14 and has read all the books.

Condolances to the RJ family.

Well, this is my first time back to the sight in more than a month. I figured I would hear some words from RJ and how he goes along.

It saddens me that we loose one of the greatest writers of our time.

Go in peace.

I have been read WoT for the last 11 years. I started reading in 1996, at the ripe old age of 16. I began the books with trepidation, as I wasn't a big fan of fantasy writing. But within 2 pages I was hooked. I've since read the entire series at least 4 times.

I was also honored to have the chance to meet Robert Jordan at a book signing a few years ago, as well as his wife Harriett. Though I only got to speak to them for a few minutes, Robert Jordan's inner light was obvious, as was Harriett's love for him.

I've never posted on here before, but I wanted to express my sincere condolences to Harriett, as well as to the rest of Robert Jordan's friends and family. I know that he will be sorely missed, as a wonderful writer and wonderful human being. May the Creator shelter him in his hand.

I was very sorry to hear of Jordan's passing, I never met him but I feel I knew him through his words. Although a few writers may be technically better then him, never have I been so entralled and addicted to a series as I was to the Wheel of Time. He touched me and so many others very deeply.

As I sit here listening to the Wheel of Time audiobooks for what seems like the 15th time, and thinking about RJ and his contributions to this world, one thing came to me and it's a cliche of a statement. RJ will never truly be gone so long as there is one fan of the Wheel of Time. He will continue to reach out and touch people with the stories he has written. You will be missed, RJ, and my heart goes out to Harriet and the rest of the family.

By all the gods. this is the saddest news I think I could have ever heard. It is like the loss of a very close dear friend. Thank you RJ for everything, and blessings upon you Harriet, and all of his family and friends, tis indeed a time for mourning.

I remember the first time I saw Eye of the World on a bookshelf. I was at the library, my favorite hang out at that time of my life. At the time i was starving for a good read and what i found completely changed, not only my perspective on what a well written book should be, it also changed the way I saw our world and it's peoples.

Harriet, by himself a man can be good, but with the love and support of a good woman that man can become great. You are such a woman and because of that i am convinced RJ was a great man. I am sorry for your loss. My love and prayers are with you and your family.

I will always remember you. My life has been blessed because of you. You are more than a author to me. Though I never had the pleasure of meeting you in person, I have grown to love you as a friend over the years. When you get to heaven give our heavenly father a hug for me tell him I am trying my best to return to him someday. I will for ever miss you and all that your words did to help me. My only regret is that I could not do something for you like what you have done for me. My the lord wrap you in his arms in that perfect embrace and comfort you. I will always remember you, and will pass your blog stories down to my children.

See you soon, but not today.

Your Friend

Aaron

I'm no good with words so forgive me. I only just found out about this 2 days ago. I am on deployment with the marines right now, so information has been scare. I am still shocked to hear this tragic news, but I am glad he is no longer suffering.

I have been reading the Wheel of Time as long as I can remember. It is still my favorite series, and I cannot even begin to describe the ways RJ and his works have touched and effected me, my friends and my life. Good grief, my little brother is named Randon you know?

Harriet, Wilson, and family and friends; Though I have not been a regular on this site as of late, I used to be very involved in the various fan communities on the net ("original" Netland White Tower, etc.), writing fan fiction, etc. And all throughout this ordeal since I've known of it you have all been in my prayers. You will continue to be so and I pray you find the love and comfort you are in need of. Praises be to the Lord whom is in all things, and through He we shall find eternal life.

Thank you,

Dan

I just saw today on Sci-fi's news that RJ has passed. I'm very sorry to see that. My condolences go to Harriet and the entire family. I have been a big fan ever since I got a chance to read the 1st 1/2 of The Eye of the World. I have gone on to buy all of the books, even the ones geared for a younger audience, the pc game, and even found the card game. (Does anybody have a full set of instructions for this or all of the cards and willing to get rid of them? I'd like to get them all.) I have a question and I'm sorry if it is either too soon or selfish, but I think that it would be a great way to honor his memory and all that he has tried to do. Will the last book that RJ was working on ever be finished and published? He is already missed and will be forever.

I cannot tell you how sorry I am to hear of Robert Jordan passing away! My prayers are with his whole family--including all his fans. Robert Jordan's contributions have been monumental! I have teenagers he's touched & they have passed on his tremendous gift to others their age! In today's age, when kids only use IM and Text messaging, Robert Jordan has inspired several non-readers to pick up books! I will never forget him and the gift he's given us! Robert Jordan will be remembered as the Ages Come and Go!

I am deeply saddened at this loss. He has been a part of my life I feel for a very long time now, and reading his books helped me through some very tough times in my life as an escape.

I thank God for his presence on this earth, and mourn his passing.

To the family of Robert Jordan as I know him, I would like to let you know that you had someone very special in your midst. I would just like to reinterate that he captured millions of minds and kept their rapt attention (mine included) for hours and days on end. That is a feat few people in the world can do. He was a true story teller who has taken a good portion of my life and has turned them into happy memories. I send my condolences and may he be forever in Gods hands.

God's peace to all of the family upon your loss. We will all miss the mental and inspirational nourishment that came from such a fertile and brilliant mind. I'm so glad to have actually met the man behind the books on two separate occasions—the brief but kind words he bothered to share with me meant a lot! Hopefully, all the expressions of support from his vast universe of readers will bring comfort to his family. Perhaps now we can give back a little in return.

Thanks for everything.
