Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

Guest Wilson

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

Although I am new in the works of Robert Jordan, I felt strange when I heard the news of his passing. My deepest condolences to all of us, since RJ's family extends to everywhere his works are read.

The sadness I feel is beyond words. This blog made him more than just an author, he was like a friend. The world is a darker place right now. I'll miss him.

To Harriet, Wilson and all the family, my deepest condolences. May the memories you have never fade.

One year ago my wife introduced me to The Wheel of Time series. Need I say any more? With such wonderful ideas and story lines RJ created a beautiful place. May he walk in peace in the Light. And remember, The Dragon rides on the wings of Time, Forever.

Oh god where even to begin, I cannot express fully the feeling in my heart when I heard that the man whose writings I have encouraged so many to read over the years had passed away. I first read the Wheel of Time in I believe was 1993 and I have been hooked ever since, eagerly awaiting each new story. My friends found it funny that I would complain about how long it was between books but that I would reread the first books one right after another before reading the latest. I will find it hard to read the final book I think. Mostly because I know it will be the last, but also because I do not doubt that there will be tears in my eyes at some point.

My heart goes out to the Rigney Family.

As the Dragon himself put it.

“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose…. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of time.

But it was a beginning.â€

You have become a legend Robert Jordan. And you have now gone on to a new beginning.

He was my most beloved author, i admired his writing and strived to be like him. i have reread each of his books countless times, and each time touched in a different way. i loved especially Ingtar, whom i believed was woven beautifully, beyond the skill of many other contemporary authors, to nearly move me to tears. RJ was my idol, as he will forever be as long as the Wheel Of Time turns. May he be shelterd by the Creator's hand, and the last embrace of the mother welcome him home

I've been reading and re-reading and re-re-reading Mr. Rigney's Wheel of Time since I first picked them up and blew through 3 of them over one blissful Maui vacation, 15 years ago. The covers have fallen off, the pages have fallen out, the pages are brown and coffee-stained, and many have sand within the bindings, but still I read and re-read.

I've grown older. I've lived in many places, gotten married, had children, yet still I read and re-read. When my children are old enough, I shall read and re-read to them as well.

In this way I hope to preserve and honor the Memory of Light that was Robert Jordan. In this way will he live forever, even as he rests in peace.

God bless, and my deepest sympathies to Harriet, Wilson, and family.

To all who knew Robert Jordan, family or otherwise, i can only send my deepest condolences. This news shook my evening tonight and i still cannot really understand that he is gone. I have read all of Wheel of Time several times now and it has helped me through a lot of difficult times and has helped make me into the person i am today. For those who know Mr. Jordan take solace that he has moved onto a better place and is now being sheltered by the creator. One day we will all see him again. I will end with a quote with adorns my grand fathers tombstone. It is taken from St Augustine and i hope it helps those who knew Mr Jordan in coping with their grief. "Out of the shadows and Imaginings into the truth."

Mr Jordan thank you for letting us into your world and bringing so much joy to me and millions of other readers. You will be sorely missed and I pray you have found truth and happiness wherever you have gone.

I am truly sorry for the loss of this great writer. His characters are like old friends, the flavour of his work always sweet on the tongue. The life lessons passed in these books are genuine, though written in the guise of fiction. I have been a fan since his work in the conan novels. I was saddened deeply at the news of his passing.

My first Robert Jordan book came to me on a dusty book exchange table at work while working shift work many years ago. I was hooked. My sons were hooked after I read to them before bed of mighty deeds done by Two Rivers folk. I shared his words reading them around campfires to my scouts under pine and hardwoods, by the banks of rivers and lakes and by moonlit skies. I know several became devoted fans. This house holds at least three complete sets of Wheel of Time in hardbound; several sets of dogeared paper backs that travel in packs and duffels on mountaineering trips and sailing adventures, some held together with tape and kept in ziplock bags.

We were deeply saddened for our author's passing and grieve for his family and legions of fans. But what better tribute to any man that his frail earthly body will pass but word, thoughts, and deed will remain to stir our souls and those who follow us, when we too go to the last embrace of the mother.

Peace favor him.
