Dear Harriet and Wilson,

I could not believe the news when I read it. Instantly my heart dropped. This great man, who has given so many people new worlds to dream in, has now moved on to his own new world.

Maybe now, as we sit missing his presence, he is lucky enough to be reunited with family members and friends who have gone before him. Maybe, he is visiting with Frank Sinatra or George Burns, or finding out who really shot President Kennedy!

Or maybe, just maybe, he is exploring the worlds that he created for us. Maybe now he can go and join the battle for the Light. Maybe this man, who still tried to give to his fans even in his last days, is now able to live on in what his great imagination created. I don't know what he might have liked to do better (aside from being with his loving family members), for I am sad to say that I was not fortunate enough to have met Robert.

I hope soon, whether it be days or weeks or months, that his family and friends are able to find some solace in the fact that he will live on; in the hearts and minds of those he gave so much to, in the written word, and in the hereafter he has moved on to.

I want to thank you Harriet, for sharing part of your husband with the world.

cr*p. This actually brought me to tears. I dont know what to say, words seem to mean so little at times like these. Life can be so hard sometimes, it is most sad when people with a passion for life and a strong will to create die. People who are compassionate. Especially at an age of 58, Its just too soon.

Robert Jordan has been my favorite author for 13 years. I remember when I first discovered him while I was working at B. Dalton Booksellers. The 7th book in his Wheel of Time series had just been released. I began the first one and thought, "This is pretty good," until about page 40 when the trollocs attacked. Then I knew it was bloody fantastic and I didn't put them down until I'd read the last word of the last page of book 7. It only took me 5 weeks. I was going to college full time and working full time, but I ate, slept and breathed Robert Jordan. I can still recall sneaking his books into my university lectures, sitting in the back row and hiding them under my table so I could keep at it.

Later, I met Jordan at Dragon*Con in Atlanta. He had two autograph sessions. I waited for hours to be first in line for the first session, and I was second in line at the second. I went to his Wheel of Time presentation at the same convention. I struggled when I learned I'd been pronouncing my favorite character's (Nynaeve) name wrong, but I was impressed with her creator's comfort with his fans. Unlike more particular authors (Mercedes Lackey for example), he didn't hide in private suites. He answered fans questions amiably, and he and his wife strolled through the dealer's room and exhibit hall with all the "regular" people.

I've waited anxiously for over a decade for the conclusion of the Wheel of Time. I've loved every book. I've reread every book. One year I even got serious and took detailed notes while I reread the first book or two. I've agonized over the possibility that Robert Jordan might not survive to finish the series...and been teased mercilessly about my gullibility when told on a yearly basis since 1994 that such had actually happened. To hear it in truth is so very sad. What a loss for his family... and also for legions of fans like me who have loved his world.

The world seems a little colder and less magical without him. I hoped that the Dragon would make it through the Last Battle, but sometimes fate has already written the story. I have been crying. My condolences to his family and those left behind.

RIP Robert Jordan. You have brought many happiness.

It is so hard to find the right things to say in a moment like this. For over a decade RJ has been a part of my life, and for many of you longer still, to have this great man taken from us feels to me like losing a member of the family. I have had breakfast on many mornings with RJ at the table, I have spent countless nights up with RJ until, and past, the wee hours. To find that this man who has been in my life longer than my wife and children has passed away is heart breaking.

To those who would speed along AMOL, please, be patient. We all want to know how the story ends, but give Harriet and Willson the time they need to put a proper ending on this chapter before moving on to the next.

To the family, I am afraid that the words of a single fan mean little in times like these, but take comfort that there are thousands of us here who greave with you.

He is gone. His pattern is complete. But his soul and his adventure live on, for everytime somebody picks up one of his books, they pick up a part of him and they share in his fantasy, his other home, his other life. I thank him for his creation and for the adventure. We all wake from the dream.

I just wanted to take this moment to let you know how much RJ’s Wheel of Time series has meant to me. Back in early 2003, I was sent to Balad, Iraq for a year as part of the California Army National Guard. Just before I left a friend of mine at HP introduced me to the Wheel of Time series. So, I took the first few books with me and my family made sure I always had the next book in the series. The series provided me an escape during a very difficult time in my life and for that I will always be grateful. I was not the only one in my unit that read them while we were their and I left the series for the soldiers that would come after me. You can be certain that RJ will live on through his writing for generations to come.

I groaned with great remorse when I read that the great author James Oliver Rigney (aka Robert Jordan) has passed on. I am in the process of rereading the Wheel Of Time series for the umpteenth time. May God bless all the love ones of Robert Jordan. A suggestion to the writer of the 12th book ... please include a section or character that celebrates the author that has created such a wonderful world.

I have been reading this series since 1992. Quite literally it has been central to my life for the last 15 years. It has seen me go from boy to man, son to husband, husband to father. There were times when everything was bad, but this author and his work were always good. And that meant something to me. Thank you and God Rest.

My deepest condolences to Harriet and the rest of those touched by RJ's life and writings. I did not know him but through this site and his writings i could tell that he was a very strong man. Good Luck and know that he is in a good place, his faith was implacable. Just remember, "Help comes from the Lord...he will not let your foot slip...he will watch over your life." Psalm 121

firat id like to give my condolences to Rj's family his Wife Harriet and id like to say that i think that the world is a bit blander now without a one of its greater minds painting a scope with words that some people cant see with there eyes ...

I wish to extend my deepest condolences to the family of a man who has influenced my life greatly. It was with a heavy heart that I this morning heard of his demise, I feel that humanity has lost a great member. I only hope and pray that his name shall be honored and remembered.

I am very sorry to hear that Robert Jordan has passed away, he was one of the few truly original fantasy authors and from what i have read a kind humorous man who loved life and those around him.My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

I first picked up WoT when i was 13 years old. This wasn't the first series of books that I have fallen in love with but this series of books took a hold on me that no other story has been able to.

I have bought multiple copies over the years after giving mine away to turn on other people to the world that has kept me enthralled for over a decade...when people ask me what it is about i just laugh and ask them if they have a few hours so i could out line the story for them...i would usually read the first few chapters standing in the book store when they were first released not being able to wait even a few extra minutes to get home to start them...i have reread every book soooo many times that i feel i exist as a passerby somewhere within the story...

Ive been checking into the blog since i found it over a year ago and regret that this is the first time i,ve posted...

My deepest sympathies to Harriet ... To the family...and to all the other fans who have come to

live in RJs world...Thank You Robert...May your work live on and people of all ages be inspired
