Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

I have used the username "krnsaidar" for the past 10 years for just about every online account I have, including all my web email addresses. People have asked me, what the heck does it stand for, and I just smile. It's like my secret codename that identifies me as a devoted hard core fan of Robert Jordan, the Wheel of Time, and the Dragon.

Robert Jordan fell into my life during a very horrible time--I was going through a rough bout of depression, that landed me in the hospital once. I picked an old dusty copy of EotW from a friend's bookshelf, and within weeks, I would not even put his books down to eat lunch. They were a constant companion to me. Ironically, his fantastical books created the only lifeline I had to reality during those years, and for that, I am eternally grateful--and humbled. Like many of you, I have read his books so many times, the bindings are falling apart, pages are missing, and I have certain passages memorized. So, he lives on.

My deepest condolences to the shade of his heart, to his familiy, to his friends.

My deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Harriet and RJ's entire family.

My life is what it is today because of the books he wrote and the man that he is.

Even though I was never fortunate enough to meet him in person, I count him amongst my greatest friends, as this book series has been with me through 17 years of my life, and traveled the world with me.

God speed RJ. You will be Missed.

To Harriet, Wilson and the entire family, my deepest sympathy and deepest thanks for sharing him.

To the writer himself, thanks for the hours of reading pleasure and the years of discussion and anticipation of what would happen next. In my opinion, you are the best of all time and it isn't even close.

It is with great sadness that I say goodbye. My mother called me with the news a few minutes ago. He's changed my life in ways that I'll never truly understand. May he rest in peace.

For the first time in my life i'm here, writing something to someone who cannot read it; writing to someone isn't here anymore... and I can only say one thing: thank you. I have one hope: that the world could stop for one moment, only one brief moment to say goodbye to an old friend that lived all the life till the end and fought with all his strength against the disease.

For me it's difficult to write something in english, but in this manner it seems to me that RJ can read this and understand what he meant to me.

I don't know if the RJ's family will ever read this message, but i want to leave them some words:

"Losing someone you love it's something very hard to accept; time will pass but the pain will remain. When you are very sad read the books he wrote and you will find again the man that gave us so much joy. If you pass so many years writing a series of books, you don't tell a simple story, you write about yourself. You leave your thoughts and emotions on every single page. You leave yourself.

I have a little nephew: she's still little, but when the times comes, a day i will lend her a book with a Wheel on the cover. And I'll tell her the story of the man who wrote the book."

So, another great man leaves this world and again we can only say "thank you for the time we passed together, thank you for the joy you gave us, simply thank you..."

Sorrow rips the structure of my heart to hear of RJ's loss. My heart cries for you, Harriet, in this time of loss. My deepest condolences to you and your family. I rejoice at all the Light he brought to my heart in times of darkness. He is the Dragon Reborn reunited with the Creator - no longer must he suffer and endure the pain of amyloidosis. May he find peace in the Light and may he find joy in having made this life precious and full of hope and love for many.

They say that we do not mourn the dead, instead, we mourn our loss at a loved one's passing.

While Robert Jordan was not ours, we mourn him as though he was. United by his legacy, his gift of time and attention and even love, we are brought together by grief.

My condolences to his family and friends and to all of us, the grief-stricken mourners.

Robert Jordan was one of the first serious authors I read as a child. The Eye of the World was published the year I was born, so the series was already several books in by the time I started reading. Without a doubt, even today, it is still my favorite series of books.

I am deeply sorry for the loss to Mr. Jordan's family. I hope that you are able to find comfort in each other during this difficult time.

Best Wishes, and my deepest condolences.

I have never met him, but he have given so much of himself in the books, it almost feels like loosing a friend.. A great man!

"The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time."

Rest until it's you time again!

I would just like to mention that I saw Mr. Jordan at the My South Speaks open forum in a coffee house on Calhoun St. Charleston, SC. It was a total surprise to seem him there and quite frankly I was stunned. I meant, but never got a chance, to tell him how much HE meant to me and how he inspired me to pursue writing in college. I now know what a special opportunity I missed to share that with him so instead I share that with all of ya'll. I don't want to carry on, but I'll light a candle this weekend in Mass in your honor Mr. Jordan and on behalf of your grieving family.

May the road rise to

meet you

May the wind be

always at your back

May the sun shine

warm upon your face

May the rains fall

soft upon your fields

And until we meet

again

May God hold you

in the palm of

his hand

I am so sorry to hear this. I cannot find the words to express the sadness I feel, and my heart goes out to his family and friends who struggled with him through his illness.

I feel that I owe him so much from the way his writing talent and imagination touched my life - I found the books 5 years ago and have re-read and re-read them. I introduced them to my best friend, and she found WoTMUD where we played together for over a year, and I ended up meeting my fiance through it and finding more happiness with him than I ever thought was possible, all thanks to Robert Jordan.

Thank you Mr Jordan for bring joy to my life and those of many others. Your creations will live on and be well loved for many many generations to come.

Rest In Peace.

I can only say that I feel as if I have lost someone close. And it isn't the first time. The Wheel Of Time series helped me through so much, including my own mother's death. To hear that the greatest writer and influence of the twentieth and twenty first centuries is dead left me in shocked silence. It is interesting that at work on Sunday the sixteenth I looked at a clock at exactly 2:45 P.M. and for the rest of the day I felt as if everything was going wrong (I felt just plain horrible.) It's sad to say that I have only been reading the books for a year and more, and that I don't even have a collection of my own, though I am on the way. However, I can say that the man who has left us all with a lot to contemplate will be always missed and remembered.

The wheel weaves as the wheel wills.

We'll miss you Mr. Rigney (RJ)

My condolences, though they may not mean much, to everyone who was close to him. May you always find that he is smiling down on you from a better place where he can do what he wants without limitation.

Sincerely,

Jalenie Ellis
