Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

I just wanted to say that this is a sad day. My deepest condolences to his wife and family. We have lost a great writer and human being. His writing really touch me, and I still continue to read his works. While Robert Jordan lived, he lived well and tried to experience life to the fullest. We should all try to live up to that standard.

He will be missed

I never read books when I was younger, I just wated TV and played video games. A friend gave me a copy of EOTW and since then I have not put the series down for more than a month and that was 11 years ago. I owe much to The Creator. He opened a world for me that I did not know existed. A world almost as real as the one we live in. His words will never be forgotten and the world he created will never die.

Rest well RJ.

My heart has just dropped into my stomach reading your note Wilson. God alone knows how you must all be feeling. All I can say is that I am so, so sorry to hear your terribly sad news. You, Harriet and all your family and friends have my deepest and sincerest condolences.

I never had the opportunity to meet RJ (living in the UK as I do), but I almost felt I knew him because of the genius of his work and the strength of his personality. His work has given me immense pleasure since 1991 and will continue to do so for the rest of my life.

I promise you that my unborn child will be named after one of his beloved characters and I shall introduce him or her to RJ's great work as soon as he or she is old enough.

May the Light shine on him and the last embrace of the Mother welcome him home.

:(

He and his family were so strong, and so sure to beat his illness, that I was convinced he would make it through :(...alas...trying to find the most beautifull and appropriate quote from the Wheel of Time series, but all I can come up with is "The Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills."..

My sincere condolences to everyone that misses him.

Rest in piece mister Jordan!

His novels have been part of my life since the Conan series. It is hard to imagine a world without his talent. he was truly a beacon of light to us all, I will not forget his bravery in the face his illness, and I will never forget him and the world he gave us.

As George R. R. Martin said in his blog, "the world of high fantasy is poorer today." We have lost an incredible writer, and an even greater man. My thoughts and prayers are with Harriet, Wilson, and the rest of RJ's family.

The world will mourn your loss. But you have gone to a better place. Your words will live on for ever and continue to impact lives on a daily basis. While I never had the honor to meet you in person, I look forward to thanking you in person 'on the other side'.

Thank you RJ!

All the best to Harriet and family. My family will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

I'm impressed with the outpouring of sentiment and appreciation for the Robert Jordan. I extend my deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and followers during this time.

It is a great testimony to the talents God gives men that so many have credited Robert Jordan for inspiring them and influencing them in their lives. (It is completely healthy and normal to recognize and appreciate this.)

Thank you Robert Jordan, family, friends, and fans.

It's been almost five years since I was introduced to the world of Robert Jordan. Almost every day since, my head have been filled with this amazing world of the Wheel of Time. Never ever has an author had such an impact on my life. It will still be after this tragic death. It's strange to think that even if I never had the chance to meet with this man, it feels like I've lost a deeply loved grandfather.

A great man has left our world and entered the world of dreams. May his name live forever!

Rest in peace James Oliver Rigney, Jr.

My condolences goes out Harriet and the Rigney Family.

I do not share the gift of eloquence that many of you have displayed, so I will say it in simple words. This is the most grief I have felt over someone's passing that was not family or a close friend.

Peace to his family. May he always find water & shade.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear this. I discovered the great WoT series 3-4 years ago and have read until book 10. Lots of great memories from the books. One of my favorite writers. He will be missed. Thanks to Wilson for keeping us informed.

Thank you for all your wonderful words.

He will surely be remembered as one of the greatest writers in history.

Harriet, Wilson - may the Light shine on on you both as it is surely shining on Mr Rigney.

Our world is a poorer place without the Dragon. His writing has been a constant in my life for 15 years. I only had the chance to meet him once, his kind words have remained with me since that day.

RIP Mr Rigney, and God Bless.

Where to begin...I have been reading the works of Mr. Jordan for over ten years now, cover to cover many times over. Through those readings I felt as if I knew a part of him, and even though I never shook his hand or saw his face, I feel as if I lost someone close to me. His work was an inspiration to me, and his life was an inspiration to many. Though the Dragon has passed from this world I look forward to meeting him in the next.

To the friends and family left behind I offer you my prayers and love. May God watch over you and bless you during this time.
