WoT-themed Convention to be held in 2009

The following press release was sent out to a number of Wheel of Time fan sites this week. It concerns the formation of a brand new fan convention called "JordanCon" which will be held in April 0f 2009.   The masterminds behind this affair are none other than Dragonmount's own Jennifer and Jimmy Liang who also run the Wheel of Time fan track at DragonCon every year. We are pleased to announce the formation of Age of Legends, LLC, a company dedicated to promoting the Wheel of Time fandom a

A VERY quick check-in

Just a very quick check-in to let you know I'm still alive and, with the inestimable help of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn, I am keeping things under control. Once again my Lambda Light chain numbers are in the normal range. Now I just have to get my foot healed up so I have a chance of getting out of this bloody wheel chair. Strange to think that my foot off all things, would be giving me he most trouble. Unfortunately, the Amyloidosis makes healing go very slowly. Oh, well. You put up with

The first part is already done: you can now visit our Online Store and easily browse any WoT product available on Amazon.com, as well as some other things you might enjoy.   The next phase after this will be updating our store with a fresh line of t-shirts, hats, mugs, etc.   The final phase is.. well... you'll find out. :)

The "Old" Forums

When we first opened the new forums (forums.dragonmount.com) we promised time to backup the your important posts on the old forums.   You'll still have the opportunity to do that - my apologies for making the transition so rapidly without giving people warning.   As soon as I am able to make the old forums public and read-only (so no new posts can go there) you will be able to get back to them and copy your old posts over. If this doesn't happen today or tomorrow (Friday) it will CERTAINLY h

Still Kicking

To All,   2:58 pm (1458 hours, hooah!), 23 July 2007   I'm stealing a line from a friend and big WOT fan, "leave the imagination to RJ."   He's fine! Having one of those "rough patch" days today, but fine. In fact, he had a hearty breakfast of Sauerkraut and a Hamburger. You read that right. Yuck! Not to my liking, but gives you an idea of the cast iron nature of his stomach. I guess eating cold C rations in the rain and mud of Vietnam will cause you to think anything is good. In f

Breaking Dragonmount Warning

As soon as I get confirmation (which could be a day or two before I can get back to this) I will be making a major change to the dragonmount theme that will hopefully remedy some of the loading issues as well as the theme on the new boards.   However in doing so I cannot say will be an easy fix and I might have to fix things. If I cannot fix things at the time they break (ie: my kids need my attention) I will replace the old files to what they were so you won't have to deal with it. But duri

Wanted: Hard Cover Books!

The Bay City Public Library in Bay City, Texas wrote to Dragonmount.com asking for help. Robert Jordan is one of the library's favorite authors. In fact, it turns out Bay City is such a hotbed of Robert Jordan fandom that the library can't keep his books on the shelves! They scour regional bookstores as often as they can, but they still can't keep up with the "turnover".   If you have any extra hardcovers (full size, in good condition) and would be willing to make a donation, Janet would love

A BRIEF ADD-ON

I don't know exactly why the calendar contest is being limited to US residents. It is something the legal department insisted on. Now, if it was me, and I lived in Canada or Finland or somewhere, I might just take a chance that they wouldn't look too closely at the return address. Or maybe I'd ask Justin to be a cut-out for me. But that's just me. I would never suggest that any of you do these things. No. Never. Wouldn't be prudent.   RJ

(untitled)

Well guys, I'm back. I know you'd like to hear from me every week or even more frequently, but I'm afraid that once a month is going to be about it for a time. I am trying to put every spare moment into A Memory of Light. There aren't too many of those spare moments right now. My meds induce fatigue, so it is hard to keep going. I'll fight it through, though. Don't worry. The book will be finished as soon as I can manage it. NOT in time for this Christmas, I fear. I don't know where tha

2007 Short Story Anthology

It's that time of year again to begin accepting submissions for the Dragonmount Anthology.   Before I get into details about this one let me inform you that the first one has NOT been forgotten. We have the final formatting done and we only await cover art. Now that we have the process down, I hope that this one will not take nearly as long to get published.   Short Story Submissions should be from 7,500 to 20,000 words. Any Wheel of Time fan fiction will be rejected with out ever being

30 Delay

I know what you're thinking, "he's at it again". But this time it's good news! 30 will be slightly late but only because I'm showing the new editor the ropes with 30. Getting him set up with our files and stuff like that. So 30 will be delayed but this should be the last one you will have to endure.

HI, THERE.

Wilson has kept you pretty much up to date regarding my numbers, which continue good, so I won't bother with them. I am hanging in there pretty good, over all. A few bumps, a few potholes, but I work my way around or over them and keep going. Hey, I've got commitments to keep, right?   I think I need to put a few things straight about this whole shooting down an rpg in flight thing. First off, it definitely comes under do not try this at home even if you ARE an expert. Expert is defined a

Editor Needed

As I am sure you have noticed there has been many big gaps and delays in the releases of the podcast. We are in need of a full time editor, or possibly a few part timers.   For those of you who have audio editing skills and a bit of spare time, you can send in a audio sample to podcast@dragonmount.com. For those who can't send the file via email, you can upload it to a file hosting site such as www.filefront.com and send us the link.   Specifically we are interested in finding people who ca

The following note is from Melissa over at TarValon.net. Their community - which is in many ways like a sister site to Dragonmount -- is hosting a drive to collect gaming gear and funds so that allied soldiers in the Middle East can having a gaming convention; the first ever in a war zone. Below are the full details of their drive. If you're interested, please read the following and contact them to participate. Let's show them how the Dragonmount and Wheel of Time fan communities care about

Steady as she goes

Well a bit rocky, but not too.   Janet, my ever-youthful bride of 32 years and I spent the weekend with RJ and Harriet in Charleston. They are both as fine as anyone could be in the middle of such an ordeal.   The weakness persists, an unwanted side affect of the medications. Claims that he could sleep 22 hours a day if Harriet were to allow it. She won't. You'll recall that we've both spoken cryptically of the nasty side affects of the drugs required to fight Amyloidosis. Prolonged exposu
