  1. It is a shame that despite being such a fan of the book somebody changed events and tone of the book so much
  2. This is a bit laughable. Noone who read bonding scene said: "Well Rand is a bit unreasonable here." Because we sympathize with him already, we already understand why he distrusts Aes Sedai. Scene in the book already impactful enough. And it would be also impactful if Rand was actually main character and focus of show. But he wasn't because showrunner really wanted focus on female characters instead of male. That's why Alanna more important character, less time to spend with guys who already have WAY to many screentime in the books (and his boyfriend could be in show more).
  3. Well, it's not. It Fix Fic based on WoT books
  4. There's so much, but not enough for somebody. Better create new characters and storylines because evidently it books were lacking. "the "hard" magic system" is too hard, everyone superhealer now "the relationships between characters" is changed because character must be changed, who needs book's Rand and his relationships, show has something better: different love triangle, this time with Egwene and Lanfear. What, Rand in books have enough will and conviction no to fall for seductress? Can't have that, now he's fool and tricked by forsaken over and over. "the brisk and vivid storytelling for so many important scenes" so many it's shame writers had to cut many of them, like Rand meeting with Morgase, or Tarwin's gap, or battle in the sky of Falme. At least show included such iconic scenes as Stepin's funeral, or Nyn's sword training, or Egwene healing of Nyn.
  5. Because Egwene is his favourite character. There is no power in the world to force him to make her look less relevant. Even global pandemic, which used by some fans as get out of jail free card to first season, didn't push him to change e8, Egwene needed to be center of attention, so she performed literal miracle. I even think "Who's dragon" was born from brainstorming how to make Egwene more important than Rand. So by pretending everyone equally could be Dragon, Rafe had chance to correct injustice and let Egg shine as she shoud. If only they didn't have star power behind Moiraine, different character would be main focus
  6. It's Avi and Elayne It's not like you want to have sex with your siblings if you say to them:"I love you." There are different types of love and their was as sisterly as can get. But anyway, Rafe said he'll make straight character gay and he did. It wasn't in jest
  7. How it's in jest if he literally turned straight characters gay?
  8. Sure it's just coincidence that person's favorite character got multiple new hype moments, some of them somebody's else's, and all changes to her book scenes made her even stronger, a'dam, while all Rand's scenes taken away or changed to make him weaker.
  9. Took away Rand moments and gave em to Egwene and Moiraine
  10. Is that thematic perspective is growth, right? Funny how Egg wasn't restricted like he was. She was best healer in the world, and broke out from the situation only true power in the book could help with. You know book also had growth as a theme? Whole journey with Loyal and Hurin helped him grow as a leader, not in the show. He was absolutely overshadowed by Moiraine, Egg and Nyn. They did things he should have did. I am not trying to convince you, I'm trying show it's not haters fault show cancelled. It's absolutely on Rafe, he thought he's better than Jordan by inventing some "theme" what wasn't in the book, by burying main character to make his favorite more important. He should have written a book or a WoT fanfiction to scratch his creative itch, instead of spending multiple millions to try to tell his story instead of Jordan's.
  11. But you claiming show didn't make Rand unimpressive. But is absolutely did. Rafe took away his Caemlyn, his Tarwin's gap, his lessons from Ingtar and Lan, his friendship with Loyal, his Cairhein, his flicker, his battle with Turak, his battle in the sky. Some of those he gave away to different characters. What he got instead? Being tricked by Ishy and seduced by Lanfear. Great showing by main character here.
  12. Yeah he only removed his swordsmanship and leadership and friendship arcs. Oh and also removed multiple impressive moments. Very well done is him actually falling for Forsaken's seduction, or spending his confrontation with Amerlin on his knees, or making battle with Ishy about anyone but himself? Oh maybe being stabbed by Mat is great story bit, even better than whatever book tried to show, choices, sacrifices, who cares about that, his friend just fell for a trick, lmao
  13. But aspect of the story Rafe clearly disliked is THE main character. From the start he needed to elevate Egwene (his favourite character) and Moiraine (biggest star and producer), so he didn't see anything wrong with making Rand as unimpressive as possible. This couldn't end any different
  14. That's simply not true. Covid prevented Egg and Nyn interacting and as a result made way to super healing-resurrection. Rand was sidelined way before because showrunner admitted he can't get all spotlight and girls MUST do something. If anything book ending would work better during COVID. It's one Rand in blue screen versus 5 women.
  15. Books took singular POV and expanded into big beautiful story. But Rafe couldn't let his favourite character be second fiddle to some guy so made complex multi-POV from the get-go, oh well. We didn't get Tarwin's gap, we didn't get battle in the sky. Like hell show wouldn't keep sidelining Rand
  16. So the theme of scene is heroes can do all by themselves and don't need any help, is it? Like in the book, right? To make show coherent of course. I guess Avi and Elayne being reborn as sisters is some sort of metaphor of sexual intercource?
  17. You yourself said show made themes coherent. So which theme series shows by letting Egwene do unparalleled feat rivalrd to Dark One(second time in two seasons)? Am I right that scene proves what heroes capable to do anything by themselves and don't need any help? Surely that theme consistent with taking away Rand's solo battle with Ishi and making hem be defended by everyone in cast? Headcanons as romantic*. There are zero Eros between them in books
  18. Which book theme was made coherent by making Egwene triumph over a-dam all by herself? I guess it's: "You can do all by yourself if you try hard enough". Enough love to make sisters into lovers
  19. It's a thing that renders victims free will almost obsolete AND can hurt said victim. It's absolutely a weapon
  20. Show made it irrelevant the moment Egwene able to collar her Sul'dam. Literally uses weapon against her master
  21. Rand should have let Egg do the healing. She would've succeeded.
  22. It's just giving Moiraine more screentime and even more new storylines and she doesn't need anymore. And it's literally mirroring Wells one, like remember Taim's iconic ultimatum, well Moiraine was first to threaten Aes Sedai about submission. And it's not like show 100% would even have Wells
  23. Yeah because show never took scenes from one character gave to another to make latter cooler or stronger or more important. Wait...
  24. Or maybe it's not foreshadowing, but once again taking cool scenes and lines from some characters and giving to another, who doesn't really need even more runtime and storylines
  25. Egwene was siphoned so much Power that everyone around her dies to defeat countless trollocs and still managed to perform the biggest healing miracle, bigger than anything in books. Rand got tricked by Ishy. S1 ends with Egwene's triumph and Rand's failure. In s2 she breaks from impossible situation and goes toe to toe with Ishy. Rand also got caught in impossible situation, twice, and both times he couldn't do anything and was saved by forsaken and Moiraine and Egg. He didn't even fight Ishy, that stabbing was most anticlimactic moment i saw in long time. How you can say they on similar growth path if Egwene uplifted from book and have more Power and better control, while Rand got downgraded and denied to do anything he did in books?
