Plus it is hard to build any momentum with the show with the viewers.  Plus actors want to move on to other projects - how do you keep them together?

This the the thing Amazon will have to struggle with. It’s very hard to get these VFX heavy shows out quick. There’s at least 8-10 months of shooting and  8-10 + months of post. At best your looking at about a year and a half. At worst 2 years. They basically have to relaunch the show every season marketing wise ( think of it as like a sequel movie rather than TV seasons). The only way around this is for Amazon to green light seasons well in advance of the previous season coming out.

The actor thing is only tricky because of actors aging out, but you’ll just have to address that within the story ( I personally think it’s fine for the story to be stretched over a few extra years, always seemed to progess a little quick time wise in the books for me, but obviously everyone will feel different). The key actors on the show will be locked into at least 7 seasons contractually (Rosamund may be different) and it would be very difficult for them to just leave. The only benefit of the long time between seasons it it actually does given them time to go to other projects.

  2. I would say there is a real posbility they delay WoT to the RoP release window (Labor Weekend and then weekly until all episodes released). It’s their only show that feels similar enough, and with RoP season 2 production being delayed, my guess is that it won’t be available for release until Sept 2024. It’s shortens the gap between their two tent pole fantasy series.

I doubt The Boys will be ready for a June release- I imagine they haven’t wrapped filming on season 4 yet, and they’ll need over 6 months for post. I think they are launching GEN V, the Boys spin off, this year instead of doing a Boys season. Boys 4 might air late ‘23 with Gen V, getting the summer slot. I could potentially see WoT getting the May/ June slot with Gen V dropping in July or vise/ versa.

Likely you’ll see WoT, Gen V and Good Omens taking Late Spring/ Early Summer, Mid-Summer, and then Late Summer/Early Fall in some order.

Reacher ( at least season 1) was a one day full season drop, so it could possibily be in April post Carnival Row or over the summer ( Good Omens 2 is only 6 episodes and may also drop all at once, which is probably why we know it’s already scheduled for next summer)

Masiel- it has a very different audience than these shows, so it could really be any time. They’ll likely get it out before May so their last season can be Emmy eligible in the fall ( and fresh on voters minds).

    so my best guess:

    Jan - Hunters 2 ( final season/announced)

Feb- Carnival Row 2 ( Final season/ announced)

March- Daisy Jones and the Six ( new series, announced)

    April- Maisel ( Final season)

May/ June- Gen V ( new series-could be swapped for WoT)

July- Reacher 2/ Good Omens 2

    August- Good Omens 2/ Reacher

September/Oct-WoT 2 ( Labor Day weekend premier, same schedule as RoP this year- could be swapped with Gen V but only if Amazon doesn’t want to air Boys 4 in ‘23)

    Nov/ December - Boys 4

Amazon also has several new series to slot in here as well. Citadel being a pretty big one ( or at least one they’ll promote).

Not sure why so many things were randomly underscored. Sorry about that.

  3. Wow, it’s striking that some people in this thread don’t understand how having a job works.

Rafe ( or any showrunner, no matter how experienced or not) have a responsibility to please Amazon before a hardcore fan audience, their employment literally depends on it. If Amazon wants Perrin and Rand in a love triangle with Egwene then that’s what Amazon gets. They are paying the bill to make this show.  It’s Rafe job to try to make it as palatable to the fans as possible. If the showrunner says no? Guess what? They get replaced with someone who will say yes.

I think the apples and oranges comparison might be a bit overstated. Good, bad, evil, divine is often a matter of perspective especially when truth is subjective. That goes for both characters and events.

In the end HotD, WoT, GoT, RoP are all dramatic fantasy TV shows. That’s about as apples to apples as you can get in any comparison.

I gotta disagree here. HoTD is basically trying to be Succession with Dragons. It’s a completely different show that allows for different scenes and different styles of storytelling.

WoT is trying to tell it’s story in a much more action/adventure style vain. It’s much closer in tone to Indian Jones than HoTD or GoT ( GoT spilt the difference a bit more by the end, for better or worse).

It’s Shakespeare vs Marvel. Both have witches, heros and villains with powers and fantastical elements but they are quite different.

Not presuming.  Just speculating about what seems reasonable.

And it seems unreasonable that a landowner who got paid for the use of idle property would want to jeapordize continuing to do so by being an ass about it.

Again, the issue isn’t the property, the issue is that when they filmed season 1, they didn’t know if season 2 ( or for that matter 3) would be a go. And if season 2 isn’t at least a go, ain’t no one coming to visit that set. So not a good use of money.

They filmed the two rivers stuff fall 2019, and it’s currently summer 2022 and they still haven’t filmed on that set again ( assuming they don’t return in season 2). I’m guessing they don’t  start filming season 3 until next year, so that would be at least 3.5 years of holding a set. And this is with knowing they would be going back there, which they didn’t.

And I guarantee the money to hold a quarry for 3+ years more than paid for someone to create a langauage. Probably a few of those extras. Most shows employ someone like Naomi for dialect and accent work anyway, so having her create a language was not a huge additional expsense if that’s what happened.
