  1. Would I be able to channel? If so: I'd want to be trained in the Power, of course, but I am REALLY not a fan of Aes Sedai and the way the White Tower is run, so I'd take advantage of their teachings, then deliberately fail my Accepted test so I could leave in peace. Then I'd go to the Black Tower (I've always related better to the Asha'man than the Aes Sedai) and align myself with them instead. They may not like Tar Valon-trained women, but I think they'd come to see that my knowledge/abilities would be an asset to them. My favorite character is the M'Hael, but since this is supposed to be realistic, I'd join Logain's faction; I'm more likely to live longer following Logain than Taim.

If I couldn't channel: I'd be Andoran, and a member of the MINOR nobility (I'd like to live comfortably, but without the responsibilities and drama of a more important political player). While I love combat sports and the idea of being a warrior, I would hate to be constrained by the intense Aiel honor code (although I admire it greatly, it's just not me). I see myself as more of a Birgitte (with a touch of Ish), personality-wise. I would not follow the Dragon Reborn, because frankly, I think he's an ass (is it acceptable to call someone an ass on DM?). but I wouldn't serve the Dark One, either.

If I were really a part of that world (all RP-ing aside), I see myself as someone whose goals would be compatible with the Shadow's (I do so enjoy mayhem), but I wouldn't swear myself to the Dark One, or serve him. So I'd be a Shendla, basically. With similar taste in men, I might add; I can see myself following Demandred. XD

Oh, and great thread! I'm going to go with 10 pts this time. You're gaining points really quickly.

Normally I wouldn't be posting quite this much, but I have a minor ankle injury that's kept me bedridden. I've been having a very productive week on DM, Tumblr, and AO3 as a result. LOL.

  3. What lured you all to the Great Lord's side? Immortality? Power? Revenge? Despair? Boredom?

Power is a plus, but I was already attracted to the Shadow because I love chaos, bedlam, and pandemonium (my indy pro wrestling gimmick is that I'm the Mistress of Mayhem). I'm also fairly insane. Serving the Great Lord's cause is a rewarding outlet for that insanity. XD

    Ferrets!!!

They are excellent and poking their noses into everything and are cute and cuddly, but have a dark side to them. Like pooping in every corner they can find or hiding just one shoe so you know you have that pair, but can't wear them.

    So, ferrets would be mine.

ferret2.jpg.4a648223ff4fe2b4b7bc9b222a14b376.jpgThey are cute, so people will want to take them home with them.

ferret3.jpg.df2c177c53415253b783b2a90318a507.jpg They can pass stuff off to your cats.

    ferret.jpg.c8ea31762ba842de7b039b2ffcd18da1.jpg They can be evil!!

YES! I love ferrets; I have two. They're so clever, too!

[EDIT: Well, Lyra just got herself stuck in a drawer the other day, but that aside. LOL.]

  5. Oh, I like those! Especially the ocean one. I've always felt more at home in the ocean than on land, TBH (I'm SCUBA-obsessed).

Another thing: I haven't tried aromatherapy per se, but scented candles have always made me feel better. (No, I'm not at all guilty of inhaling cinnamon candle aroma to the point where my roommates think I'm trying to get high....)

Could have to do with the durability of the fabric, it was easiest to come by, affordablity. I'm sure there were multiple factors.

And wool does breathe better than you think. I've done Civil War reenacting for years. Those uniforms are wool. Wearing those in hot summer temps definitely give you an appreciation for modern conveniences. Though I did learn a few tricks to staying cool in wool.

Really? Which reenactments have you been to? I Mulan-ed at Chickamauga one year, and I go to the Narcoossee ones in FL every year, too. Didn't make it to the Gettysburg anniversary, unfortunately. But yeah, that wool! My only experiences with wool and the heat were the FL reenactments; several people had to go to the hospital with heatstroke the first year I went.

Sorry, getting OT. But yeah, I guess with the ability to Heal, it would've been all right.

  7. This isn't for the point thing, 'cuz I really don't have any good links or visual anythings to share right now, but when it comes to my own anxiety (I have GAD), I work out, then take a 30-minute shower (er...definitely not advisable for anyone who's stressed about money!), and then either look at videos of kittens until I feel better or, um, read and/or write guilty pleasure fluff fanfiction. LOL. That doesn't work for everyone, though. XD

I dunno. It's always sounded vaguely condescending to me when people send me links with lists of the usual tips (white noise, relaxing music, so on), but I can try to find a decent article or something when I get home (I'm killing time waiting for my pancake stack ATM).

    Good luck with everything, though!

I would use horses because most people you would want to watch would own 1 or more horses.

That makes sense because horses are everywhere, as you said. But aren't the Great Lord's animal spies usually ones with a...darker aspect, I guess? Or at least a certain type of slyness and cunning. If they could be trained as spies, that would be brilliant, but I'm not sure they have the most, um...compatible minds for espionage?

  9. What are you hoping to do with your degree? I used to be a support group co-facilitator for NAMI several years ago before I drastically changed career paths.

Congrats! And good luck and all that. ?

That is so true. Besides she would never willingly teach someone else. After all they might obtain more power than her.

I think either Graendal or Rahvin. Compulsion is such an interesting weave. It would be an interesting talent to master it.

I agree that it'd be great to learn Compulsion, but learning from either of them would make me very uncomfortable. LOL.

Bill’s Black Tower Facebook group?  Or is there another I’m not aware of?

I’m in the JordanCon costumers group.

On FB, though, I go by my pen name: Foster Bridget Cassidy.

Yep! Bill's group. I'm Jennifer K. Barry on there. :)

I genuinely don't like most cheese. Unless it's on pizza, macaroni and cheese, and saltine crackers with slices of cheese.

I...don't understand. I'm lactose intolerant, and I still eat cheese constantly, 'cuz it's, well, cheese.

[EDIT: Sorry for the double-post; I don't know what happened. Those were supposed to be part of the same post, but I had some trouble with the quoting on Dragonmount mobile.]

i've read that peanut butter and jelly is considered strange/unappetizing in other countries.

i enjoy all kinds of things i'm sure others think strange. my best friend had never heard of boysenberries until i told him about them. ooo root beer, i know thats a fairly regional to the states thing.

Since you mentioned PB&J: Gator's Dockside has peanut butter and jelly-flavored chicken wings. I thought they were revolting when I first heard of/saw/smelled them, but they've grown on me. A lot of people react with disgust to the idea and refuse to try them, though.

As for me, I'll pretty much eat anything that doesn't eat me first.

  14. I posted this on my WoT Tumblr blog recently:

So, I've been wondering: The Asha'man's coats were made of black wool. And at the genesis of the Black Tower, at least, the weather was sweltering-hot due to the Great Lord's influence on the world. It was my understanding that the Asha'man/Aes Sedai skill of not letting the temperature affect you did not make your body impervious to the effects of said temperature. We saw this at the beginning of Lord Of Chaos, when Demandred had to remember to cover up against the chill, despite not being bothered by it. Or, as mentioned explicitly in pp. 348-349 of TPoD: "....refusing to let heat or cold touch you did not make them go away. You could ignore them right up to the moment sunstroke cooked your brain or frostbite rotted your hands and feet." So, the Asha'man would have had to deal with basic heat-induced complications like heatstroke and dehydration.

Wool! I love you, Taim, but...but why? I've been thinking about this a lot recently, because I had to modify my Asha'man cosplay for Florida temperatures.

  15. Here! Currently re-reading the series, and I'm on TPoD. Simultaneously reading "The World Of Robert Jordan's The Wheel Of Time" and re-reading Donna Tartt's "The Secret History." Regarding the latter, Henry Winter reminds me quite a bit of my headcanon Elan Morin Tedronai.
