  1. It will not. If the show doesn’t get picked up then you can kiss The Wheel of Time goodbye in the sense that no new content will be created. The rights are owned by some of the worst IP squatters in existence and there is no point in producing content in order to lose money. That was my argument all along. I was worried that the dissenting voices (whilst valid) would help to turn away the casually interested. Though how much is speculative. I felt the series quality improved so the inverse viewership curve does seem to align with exterior pressure. I kinda hope someone like apple or HBO gives us a shot. Even if going with HBO would mean that Lan’s little sword will be in every other shot.
  2. Im sad because this is likely the end of new content for The Wheel of Time universe assuming they cant shop the series out to HBO or Apple or get a video game made. I never understood the “we would rather have nothing than this” attitude about the show from some - but to each their own.
  3. yes yes but what WOULD you like to seeeee in a game 😛
  4. So as has been the case for MANY years, iwot has decided to grace us with teasing a Wheel of Time video game. A RPG no loss. And OPEN WORLD RPG no less. AAA no less. From the core group that was Turbine - of LOTRO fame. It is iwot however so it will either fade to dust as per the norm. Or it might come to pass and be a turd sandwich. or maybe, just...maybe... it could be a good thing? So indulge with me a bit of fantasy, lets talk once again about what we would want from a Wheel of Time game. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Visuals: Since they said AAA game I expect visuals damn near to what we get in the TV adaptation. But I want them to take the opportunity to use the game to be a faithful RECREATION of the novels. That way I get to have my cake and eat it too. I can have a adaptation in the series and a faithful following of the actual words from the actual paper. Soundtrack: The tv series has nice music but give me something more traditional. Games need emotion to rise and fall with action and the discordant tone of the show does not work for such. Caddy wants her full orchestra tyvm. Mechanics: A wishlist. 1)The whole map please. 2)Don't trip on the story. If you DO plan to trip on the story then do it like in LOTRO. Near the main actors but still distant. 3) Classes - not everyone wants to play magic every playthrough. 4) Make the world feel alive. NPCs with schedules etc. 5) Explain why when I die...twas just a flesh wound 😛 6) Pay actual voice actors - every line fully voiced. Including background npcs 7) If I pick Aes Sedai I want to see parts of my novice and apprenticeship 😛 8 ) Male channelers need an insanity mechanic. Nothing that makes the char unplayable after a point but...maybe make them see "trollocs" occasionally and its actually just people 😛 9) Horsies and Ferries 10) I want house.
  5. Im just hoping we get more seasons for the inevitable "Main character is now Cadsuane" energy. Its gonna happen. Just wait. My time is nigh.
  6. From a Lore perspective it actually makes a ton of sense - to me. And would be on brand. Wilders do all channeling based on need. They would not see the OP the same way as those trained within the rigid constraints as Aes Sedai. There are ups and downs to this though. It would allow for more flexibility and "inventing" but also would not allow for as much finesse. Take for example Lan and Rand early on. Both had killed a trolloc using a sword. Rand out of the need to survive - and Lan because he's just a certified badass. Nobody would argue that luck didn't play a HUGE role on Rands early survival ... maybe the Creators hand tipping the scale a bit. But still they were both officially "swordsmen" in that they had done battle, drawn blood, and survived. Lan would have absolutely wiped the floor with Rand. ------------------- Also Aes Sedai who are already locked into the mentality that - there is a specific weave...with specific motions and specific amounts of power drawn from threads would immediately blame - lack of training. Because in there eyes if they haven't seen, learned, and practiced a weave - how could they do something? Its that rigid mentality that likely caused much to be lost in the breaking, and why we "rediscovered" weaves later. That said there are ups and downs. A Wilders shield likely wouldn't be up to snuff against a full trained AS who put in the hours. I'd take Cadsuane shielding me over a billion wilders.
  7. Rules: One upmanship at its finest. The sillier the better! Here is how it began.... CaddySedai: I used to walk ten miles from home to the local internet cafe in order to post every day on the 14.4k modem. 56k? Hah… you think we had Sean Connery money? No. We had 14.4k and we liked it. During winter it was in six to eight feet of snow - uphill both ways - and under that snow it was just nothing but broken glass and old razor blades. Back then we didn’t have any shoes - you just walked so much the soles of our feet turned into leather. And you know what, we had fun. And we liked it. And we never complained. SinisterDeath: Man you were loaded! Back in my day, we trained pigeons to delivery binary code for our internet! CaddySedai: Oh man...I would have to apologize then for any bandwidth drops.... You see I was so poor we often had to eat those pigeons just to save up enough money to be able to afford to even say the words AT&T. SinisterDeath: You ate? F'in rich you were. If we weren't working 30 hours a day, we were lucky if we got rock soup for dinner! CaddySedai: You had 30 hours to work in a day? What were you - made of money? I actually had to sell back all the hours in the day and only have about 1 minute 14 seconds left.
