Currently reading The darkness that comes before by Bakker
-
Finished the Book of Jhereg, an omnibus by Brust. Just started The Name of the Wind by Rothfuss.
-
Time Bandits. I hate that movie.
-
Finished Pillars, not too bad. Reading Day of Infamy by Walter Lord
-
Now reading "Pillars of the Earth" by Follet. Seems pretty good so far.
-
Currently reading "The Reluctant Admiral, Yamamoto and the Imperial Navy" by Hiroyuki Agawa. It's very good.
-
I have always thought it was some sort of aircraft. Not much else it could have been.

Finishing part one of The Belgariad, Have Erikson's Midnight Tides ready to go. Some people don't like Eddings, but to me going back and re-reading the Belgariad is like hanging out with and old friend. Not nearly as complicated as the Malzan novels or Martin, but then you don't need a database to keep track of things.

Finished the last book of the Black Company, Soldiers Live. I'm curious if there will be more. While the story does come to a satisfying end it is left in such a way that there is more story that can be told.
He has two more books planned.. so he says.. try getting the Dread Empire omnibus its good too. I'm starting DeadHouse Gates, and then A Memory of ice.

I'm curious, is there anyone who actually seriously enjoys Perrin as a character? Forget all the analysis and literary commentary, does anyone actually turn the page when reading WOT and go 'awesome, a Perrin chapter!'?
Only in ToM did i come close. I skipped 90 percent of the Faile/Shaido arc because.. well nothing happned for what 3 books?

Al Thor will retire to the dustbin of history? lol. The dragon will be remembered a whole lot more than a 2 bit amyrlin like Egwene in history. The Dragon is the most important soul in the last 2 ages.
Can't even get a 2 bit amyrlin to follow him. The ring of tamyrlin seems far far away. how the mighty have fallen. get ready for the end of AMOL when rand scurries off to the sunset with min while egwene rules the world with logain.
Elan your hubris is showing again...

I just finished TOM today. I do not hate Eq. Heck, I actually like Faile and Gawyn now.. and that's saying something. I have a beef about Eg and Nyn's testing; even the Aes Sedai who supervised was appalled at what they did to her. I can see Eq not wanting to seem to have favorites; that's reasonable. But to stand by and watch Nyn tortured, well that's harder to stomach. Her reaction to Rand is understandable I think. Though I also see the need to get rid of the refuse and remake the prison. You can't repair a wall if you leave the debris in place, you have to clear it away.

Finshed TOM..Sanderson did an excellent job. Mat is much better this time. I even like Faile now. Elayne and Eg are more annoying though. Glad Perrin finally stopped whining about being a leader. Crap, i even like Gawyn better, and I wanted him to fall into a deep hole and never climb out heh.
Got Elantris and will start it tomorrow. Have The Darkness that comes before and The Dread Empire omnibus by Glen Cook after that.
-
Yeah left you mad didn't it?
-
Finally got around to The Towers of Midnight. Will pick up Elantris on Fri.
-
Finished the Way of Kings.. hate that I'm going to have to wait for more.
-
Finished Bleak Seasons. Kind of an abrupt ending. Starting She Is the Darkness next. I'll probably finish up the with the other Black Company books before moving on as well. I think Water Sleeps is next and after that is Soldiers Live.
How are you liking it so far?
-
Am 2/3 through The Way of kings.. bloody good book.
-
I also just started The Black Company and I have to say it's surprisingly hard to get used to the first person POV.
I have the omnibus edition. The first person has somewhat put me off really trying to read it. I've only read one series that with first person POV and that was The Saga of Darren Shan from my childhood. I only re-read it for nostalgia's sake .
Exact same here actually. Having a real hard time getting into reading "I did this, and I remember that" all the time. And yes I also read the Darren Shan books (and the Demonata ones too) but mostly because I started them when I was far younger.
It's worth the effort. I didn't like when it changed from Croaker to Murgen but I got used to it. Just started Warbreaker, seems interesting. When the guy handed me Way of Kings my jaw dropped at how thick it was.. he even mentioned that hehe.. wow gonna take awhile to read that.

Finished The Silver Spike and started Bleak Seasons. Also have The Invisible Man, Peter and Wendy, and The Wonderful Wizard of OZ all going on my Kindle.
How you liking the series so far? I finished the last one Soldier's Live awhile back and am hoping the see the next book someday. One thing about Cook; he certainly doesn't spare any character from the axe.
-
Finished Warbreaker. Have to say it's my least favourite of Sanderson's books. Which isn't saying much because I'm quite a fan. I liked it.. just preferred his other works. Was a bit disappointed with the ending. A little too abrupt. And wasn't keen on the epilogues POV. Wished for someone else.
Hm.. now I have nothing else to read .
I just finished the third Mistborn book on Friday; have Warbreaker and Way of kings on order should get them tomorrow. Am somewhat depressed over finishing a good series and the way it ended.
Oh well.

About to start Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke. Have heard it's good, so we shall see.

What about buying used from the Amazon market place or something similar? It's nice to support local bookshops when you can, but that's not always possible or practical. Not sure what country you're all in but in the UK I always get my books from Playtrade (like the Amazon Marketplace) and it's so cheap. I got a copy of Shadowmarch, the first book of Tad Williams' latest series, for about £1.80, included postage.
I did right after I posted here,, might check it out next payday.
What are you reading?
