OOC:  No big deal.  It does get a little confusing.

IC:  Valeri settled herself into her chair with a cup of her own tea when the girl started to talk.  She seemed very distracted as she told her about an Aes Sedai at the Foregate.  Valeri kept her face smooth and waited a step.  That seemed to do it.  The girl spilled her story about stealing from a Warder to keep herself fed.  Light, it almost sounded as if the Aes Sedai had kidnapped her.  But, whether the girl knew it or not, she had been brought to the right place.

"I see," she said, setting her cup of tea on her desk.  "That is quite the harrowing tale.  However, I have good news for you.  The White Tower's purpose is not to punish you today.  You may not believe it, but you do have the ability to channel.  I can feel it within you, since you have been tested with the jewel.  That entitles you to the right to enroll as a novice.  You won't be paid for the work you do until you become Aes Sedai, but you will have ample work in studies and chores, and you will be well fed and cared for as you work."  The girl seemed almost unwilling to believe anyone would help her, so she tried to keep her speech as plain as she could.  "As a novice, you will do chores assigned to you, and you will run errands or do chores for any Accepted or Aes Sedai that bids you do them.  Of course, Aes Sedai hold rank over Accepted.  As the Mistress of Novices, I will act as your mentor and your supervisor.  If anyone finds fault within you, or if you break a rule, you will come to me for punishment.  I not only act as your overseer, but I also offer comfort, should you need it.  My door is always open to novices and Accepted."

With that, she stood up and noticed that the door was open.  She closed it with another weave of Air, and decided to ignore that just for now.  She took the thick volume that was the Novice Book and laid it on her desk, but she did not open it.  "When an Aes Sedai brings someone like yourself to my office, it is not for punishment.  It is for the chance to become an Aes Sedai.  The first step, though, is just a small amount of information from you, if you'll share it."

Valeri poured herself a cup of mint tea and sipped on it for a moment.  It was the first moment in a long while when her office was exactly how she had imagined it:  everything in its place, and quite...save for the noises around the Tower.  She breathed easily for a moment and simply savored her tea.  Oh, of course there were things to do.  There always were for the Mistress of Novices, but it was nice to relax when she could.  She felt some tension leave her shoulders and chest.  A slight headache even subsided.  She hadn't even noticed she had had a headache she had been so busy.

Then there was a knock at the door.  Her headache threatened to come back, but she made herself calm down.  She opened the door with a weave of Air, and was shocked to find what awaited her.

A young woman, who was not enrolled as a novice, stood before her in a novice dress and a green head scarf.  She looked as though someone had done her a great injustice, judging from the redness in her cheeks and the look on her face.  She could feel the Saidar in her, though, so she must have been tested.  But it was so strange to have a perspective novice come to her in novice whites.

"Come in, child, take a seat.  Tell me your name and how it was that you came to my office dressed as a novice when you are not yet in the novice book."  Normally, she would have been less forthcoming, but this situation was simply baffling.

OOC:  Just a tip - Leala is my White.  The MoN is Valeri.  :)

IC:  Valeri shuffled through reports coming in from the kitchens.  Apparently, some novices had thought it funny to start hurling grease at each other as some sort of game or fight while they cleaned.  The cooks had already dealt out some punishments of their own, and they'd be coming to her office as soon as possible.  She sighed.  There had been an Accepted involved.  She had a few ideas of who it could be, but she would certainly make sure they--

A knock at her door drew her eyes up.  She embraced Saidar for a moment and opened the door with a small weave of Air.  Beyond the door, there stood a girl in tatters.  "Come in, child.  Please take a seat."  She was very tempted to grab a set of novice white right then and there, but there was procedure to consider, of course.  "My name is Valeri Sedai.  I am the Mistress of Novices.  Please tell me your name and how it was that you came to the White Tower today."  She paused for a moment before the girl could answer, and added, "Your journey here seems to have been a difficult one.  Would you like some tea?"

You can rp the testing at the Tower if you want to, but the main point of the Meet the MoN rp is to get enrolled and...well...meet the MoN.  lol

So, including the testing is completely up to you.  You can rp it with an NPC sister, if you included one in your bio, or you can borrow one of my Aes Sedai for the process, and I can work through it with you.  :)

Valeri smiled and nodded as Pankhuri gave her her true determination to take this path.  "Very good, child," she said.  With that, she stood from her chair and retrieved the large Book of Novices.  The book was ages old, but still pristine, thanks to weaves from the Browns, and it was enormous, but Valeri was so used to hefting it, that she could still pull it down without much effort.  Sitting back down in her chair, she flipped through the pages until she found the newest blank slot.  "This book contains the names of every novice ever entered into the White Tower.  To completely become an initiate of the White Tower, I'll need your full name, age, and place of birth," she explained.  Valeri smiled as she dipped her pen into the ink and waited for Pankhuri's response.

Aureli bent her knees in greetings to the Yellow.  She couldn't exactly curtsy.  "Thank you for having me, Seheria Sedai.  I truly appreciate it."  With that, she set about what the Yellow told her to do.  She set the basket of herbs and plants on the desk before going to see about the tea.  There were small vials of herbs at the station.  She could identify all of them.  Knowledge and facts were easy enough to come by.  She selected the preferred vial and began to heat the water.  She turned her head when the Aes Sedai spoke again to her.

"Ah, well...it's just that I know there will be times as an Aes Sedai, out in the world, where my channeling may not work or be taken away.  If one of my companions or I am hurt, I think having a good working knowledge of herbs would be helpful.  I've looked up recipes and remedies in the library, but sometimes preparing them is cumbersome with one arm.  But even with channeling, I'm not sure of the proper technique without taking away potency," she explained.  She poured two cups of the tea.  "How much honey or milk would you like with your tea?" she asked.  "I hope you don't mind, I picked out peppermint.  My lunch didn't quite sit well with me."  As she waited for the Aes Sedai's response, she began spooning in honey into her tea.  She stirred it before she splashed in just a bit of milk.

I'm incredibly surprised I haven't gotten sick already myself.  >.>  Yay stamina!

It's okay.  :)  The books aren't very clear about whether or not these are different worlds or illusions.  They don't really know, because this was a ter'angreal that was found after the Breaking.  Novices should know that channeling is EXTREMELY dangerous in the Arches, so avoid that at all costs...

Generally, the worlds/illusions/whatevers happen in the past, present, or future depending on the Arch, but it's almost like an alternate reality, where things happen differently.  Sometimes good things happen to where you want to stay, but once you see the Arch again, you have to abandon it, no matter how real it feels (like how Nynaeve was married to Lan.)  And sometimes, you have to escape a danger or face your fear to get to the Arch.  But it's really up to you how they manifest.
