Fair enough, I'm still holding onto hope though. There's already 25k signatures in a day, seems it's starting out strong.
-
Apparently there's a fandom effort to get it shopped around by sony at: https://savewot.com/take-action/

I do love fan creations, dragonmount being one of them. I wouldn't want anything AI, personally. I don't think it's necessarily fair to put a lot of free work on creatives that are fans either. Creatives are already sorely underpaid. Just look at the strikes... Many on the writing and costuming team are fans themselves too. I'd rather see people who are fans get paid to do the work of this epic tale. It's hard having to deal with art under corporations that value income above excellence. I should correct myself: the renewWoT campaign had 155k letters as of cancellation after a month of collecting. As of the cancellation it went from 155k to 180k in the span of 3ish days, while people still spammed amazon as they waited for the #SaveWot campaign.

I was wondering about this earlier myself. I wouldn't be surprised that if someone did pick it up, they drop Rafe as showrunner, given how many book fans are unhappy with him. But maybe they'd keep other writers, since season 3 was recieved well by those who were watching. Plus they'd know the ins and outs of the story, compared to a new team One of the receivers of the #saveWoT campaign letters is Sony, and they've been blasted the last 3 days between the two campaigns since cancellation. Hopefully all this attention leads to more info coming out from them.

That's a good point, they do occasionally release a statement to the news or on their accounts when a show is coming to a close. Maybe they were hoping it would be a quiet cancellation? I don't think the Deadline article that was the first to break the news had direct quotes from their reps either
-
I wish they would have done the prologue the opening too, among other scenes. I look at the show as another turning or interpretation of the wheel. The books could considered this too in theory, since they're narrated from a third person perspective but influenced by each characters personality and emotions. I'd personally like to see the show finished because I enjoyed S3, but an animation would be a nice fresh start for the IP as well

This was such a fun event😁 Thanks for getting us all together to make it happen. Wish I could have participated in the game threads some more! Thankfully I won't have classes next month. See you all for the next event.

[Yellow Mental Health Awareness] Empowering Quotes
Blueberry replied to Andy MacLeod's topic in Tar Valon
Thanks Andy! This thread was really fun, it even had me looking up other quotes to keep me motivated during exam period 😁 -
I wanted to leave the thread open until Sunday, in case people felt like venting about the cancellation, or revisiting this weeks topics. I think now is a safe time to close it. 🙂 I wish we could have ended on a brighter note, but there's hope for us show fans! A new campaign has dropped called savewot.com apparently. Thank you all so much for your willingness to share this week, and your thoughtful conversations surrounding emotional and sensory regulation. I feel like I've learned a lot from and about everyone here and I'm grateful for the lovely community we have 😊💛 I hope to see you next month at the pride event!

It seems the same folks who dropped the Renew WoT website & got 180k letters sent out have started another, following the cancellation of the show. People who signed it will get an update on the new campaign soon. https://savewot.com/take-action/ They have a few ways to take acction to get the attention of other streaming services it seems. I'm personally hopeful after seeing all the fan efforts on social media the last few days.

Just saw this on insta, they answered a question about the book on the WoT show page. No responses to the flooding of comments about the show tho
-
On a positive note, a video on tiktok about the cancellation has getten over 46k likes and growing. Lots more videos pouring out about it, too. Primes page is being flooded with requests to return the show in their comments. It seems like a lot of people who watched the show first and loved it are on that app, and they are vexed about it. Many are saying they would rather WoT than Rings of Power 😳 They're mass sharing the renew WoT website to keep updated, and talking about the blog post on dragonmount a lot too! They are saying stuff like "link with me sisters" 😭 We might even see an influx of fans from there to here. The video with 46k likes: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMS2ffeH5/

Wheel of Time Season 3 - Full Season Discussion
Blueberry replied to SinisterDeath's topic in Wheel of Time TV Show
The only time the show was advertised well to me was season 3. It suddenly popped up in my algorithm on fb and tiktok way more, and I was seeing more new fans than ever. So many of them were asking for book spoilers to get potential insight to the next season, it was fun to see. -

I'm happy to hear that, I havent seen any of their work yet but I've been hearing lots of people are enjoying Severance. WoT is definitely a show that needs attention to detail. They're already familiar with how to advertise for fantasy, as well, something prime really lacked. -
Wheel of Time Season 3 - Full Season Discussion

Some are saying Appletv could be a good fit since they tend to let shows go outside the new 8 episode standard. -
I do want to take a moment to acknowledge the work DM is doing keeping the site community oriented, and as bot free as possible, especially now as the topic is exploding. I much prefer websites that focus on quality and connection rather than places like reddit that are essentially 50 percent bots these days. Reddit and Facebook have been such a mixed bag, its sad to see people being made fun of for mourning the shows cancellation.

You really put into words what I struggled with when it came to the TV series. I was able to let it go because the writers did try to capture more of what the original fans were interested in as the show progressed, but I can see why it was not for you. What I feel saddest about is this may close many doors for The Wheel of Time. We had so much momentum going and new fans were swirling onto the scene that had had never known about the books before, getting to discover this fantastical world of WoT. Many want to start reading it now that its cancelled. I'm mourning the show as much as I am what that means at large for the WOT world and fandom. I'd love to see it animated closer to the books storyline, but Arcane was expensive as hellll and who wants to take a chance on an IP that has seemingly already failed. Praying this isn't the end for our beloved epic tale.

I'm seeing a lot of people talking on tiktok, theres videos of people with lots of views and likes already on the subject. Seems people were smitten with the last season and are feverishly tagging streaming services and posting to get attention on the show 😮

How unfortunate 😞 I was really enjoying the third season. There was some changes and from the writing team but a lot of work and love was put into the project, I was so curious how they'd approach the break in the towers. I hope it can get picked up elsewhere, I think an animated project was already turned down long ago because they wanted to keep it to the first 3 books.
-
Oh Brycc 😞 I'm very sorry. I just read the news now myself. This is rather devastating, I can see why it would be dysregulating. I'm letting myself have some time to mourn this too. At the same time I'm trying to hold onto hope. ❤️ When I looked it up there was already several articles written by notable news sources discussing the cancellation and the fans interest in more seasons. Maybe if everyone keeps pushing someone else will pick it up.
-
Unfortunately it's a common trend in the last few years for shows to have shorter seasons and longer waits. Covid didnt help 😞 I think Vox did an article on it at some point. The expectation of quality for shows has gone wayy up. Shows are trying to be more ambitious with their content and quality to keep watchers interested. I do appreciate all the attention to detail, I found some scenes in the show truly breathtaking last season and I would love to paint some of them. I'm curious if inflation plays a part at all in this trend. Everything is more expensive now. Tech, set and clothing design, peoples wages. Either way I really miss shows that have almost a dozen seasons and maybe 12-20 episodes each season.

A belated welcome JayceDa! Hope to see you around the forums and community orgs 🙂 Tar Valon and the Show thread are pretty active this month! This has been my process with the show as well. There were many moments I expected to see that felt so special when I read them, it was a shame not to see them come to life. But so much already has, and I'm grateful for this rendition. I guess it gives us something to look forwaed to when we re-read!

For me it was surprising to see it so soon in the show. It's been quite a while since I read the books but I recall as a teen enjoying the fact that you got to see these young people grow up through the series. They started out as country bumpkins that were still learning to flirt and that developed along the way; although RJ did like to throw relationships at the readers suddenly so the show has captured that. I personally liked how RJ tended to go for a "fade to black" approach to those scenes. But I can see your point on how this is making it sex positive, or even sex neutral

Into Shayol Ghul: The Making of the Cover of A Memory of Light C
Blueberry replied to Vambram's topic in Wheel of Time Books
I loved reading about his process. I never considered printing a guide drawing onto paper that can later handle paint. -
This is a really interesting strategy to ground yourself. I'm going to have to add "What can I realistically do here and now?" To my tool kit I like that way of being able to step back and really visualize whats going on emotionally. I wonder what my anxiety might look like if it were a person, or an entity. The closest I can think of is the Groke from the Moomins.
