The 4th Age Podcast is BACK in iTunes

PhrozenFear

Hey folks, Marc here, from The 4th Age Podcast.

Over the last little while, many people have noted that the iTunes stream has been down. This was, without too much techy talk, because Dragonmount.com was undergoing some major reworks, and the feed that made iTunes know what files to get, and when / what to update, was broken. Unfortunately, it wasn't a real easy fix, to keep the old feed the same, and iTunes wasn't really helpful in allowing us to keep things as they were.

So there is now a brand new 4th Age podcast entry in iTunes - as the old one is no longer working - the old one exists there for archival purposes. This new feed is finally up and running properly, and it downloads all of the old episodes (minus most of the TGS recap series from 76-92 - they're being slowly implemented, but aren't all there just yet).

So, if you wish to sign up and get the NEW 4th Age Podcast, click the following link:

iTunes 4th Age Podcast Store Link To Subscribe

This should open iTunes up to the new 4th Age podcast, and allow you to subscribe. If you want just the feed itself (for either an RSS reader, or another program to get podcasts (Winamp, Media Go, etc), then THAT URL is:

http://feeds.feedburner.com/4thAge

Unfortunately, you cannot copy the old files into the new directory and have it work - I tried that last night. So you can either keep all the old with the old (if you have them already), or else re-download them with the new feed, which has them all as well, and will have the future episodes we release.

The 4th Age home page can found here. And all of our past episodes can be found here.

Thanks again, and thank you for being loyal WoT / Dragonmount.com / 4th Age fans.

PS, we are aware of some of the issues with a couple of the episodes, and Jason is working on getting them fixed. New episodes are also still being recorded, and released, as well as the TGS Recap episodes, so you'll be seeing those in the feed over the coming days / weeks.

Team 4th Age,

I was wondering if I was the only one having issues downloading episodes 72, 73, and 74. Says they are non existent. I want to thank you guys for all the great work and time you put in. It was a lot of fun actually get on the phone and talking to you guys before the midnight release in Utah. Hope to see you all at Jordan Con this year.

Regards,

Stephen Hall

You're not the only one having problems with it, and several episodes just don't show up at all. I don't think any of the episodes in question are available through the RSS feed, and that would be the problem.

Any updates on 11 or so podcasts that were recorded around 2 months ago? I mean, I understand it takes time to edit. But it doesn't take that long right? I'm not trying to be schmuck about this but, what's the REAL reason why we are not eps recorded months ago? Why are eps that u post getting pulled so people can't hear them? I, and I'm sure others, want to know the real reasons for all this.

i downloaded everything from the posts spencer put up in the forums, and as far as i can tell, the page jason put up works, too. the itunes never worked that well for me.

as for the new epis, i really think they'll put them up as soon as they can. i think timing was bad, with the new book coming out, and all the stuff everyone's helping with there. and holidays coming up, and stuff.

i hope my own whining hasn't slowed anything down. and i hope we'll hear new episodes one way or another, soon.

But they record almost every week without releasing most of them. If editing is such a problem they should just do live shows.

Hello all,

Everybody feels your pain. None of us want the release of new episodes to stretch out this long. It is a combination of the book release and the new Dragonmount website. No new episodes can be posted until the DM team is finished tweaking the site. The techs are working on the iTunes problem. The best way to get the episodes out so far is to go to the 4th Age forums and download them manually.

Because of the holiday, most people have been busy with family as well, so that can also put a hold on things. With luck a slew of new episodes will be out shortly.

@ Virtuhall, I had a lot of fun too. It was nice to chat with you!

@ Kajimaa, the episodes we not pulled, there is a problem with them showing up on the feed (I think, I am pretty much technically inept, so I can't tell you why). The team is aware though after we received some emails and they are working on it. There is a lot of work to do to the site as well, so it takes time. You can either go to the forums to download the missing eps or go here: http://www.dragonmount.com/Podcast/episodes.php .

I also think there will be more live shows in the future mixed in with the regular format. They can't all be live since then most fans would miss out on them. Not to mention, if you heard any of them, they really need to be edited. Nobody wants to listen to dead air and ummms, not to mention how off topic things tend to go at times. ;)

Take care,

Carrie

Alright, the iTunes version of the Podcast is running (even with me being two months behind on that). Hopefully there will be a fix for the minority of us Zune users who are still having difficulties in getting the Podcast on our portable devices.
