Fan Art Friday: All Together Now (Take Two)!

peregrine

Last week, I featured some serious (and seriously amazing) group portraits and sketch dumps. This week, I thought I'd lighten the mood.

In accordance with this week's theme (All Together Now, Take Two), here are four group portraits that made me do a double take.

1. Wheel of Time Chars by Sir-Heartsalot

Not only is the style flawless and fun, but the interpretations are hilarious (just keep scrollin' -->).

2. WoT Puppet Theatre No. 1 by shorelle

What's cuter than the Wheel of Time characters as hand puppets?

I feel a meme coming on ...

3. Sparkles by RoseMuse

I've read Stephanie Meyers' Twilight series and don't have anything against it (we all need a little romantic fluff now and then), but I still think RoseMuse's crossover of Wheel of Time, Twilight, Sabriel, Pride and Prejudice, and Lord of the Rings is pretty darn funny.

4. Re-Employment by Zorm

Another crossover! Maybe that should have been this week's theme ...

That poor Myrddraal just wanted a role in My Little Pony.

I take it from your avatar that you're a fan of Stephanie Pui-Mun Law? She is my favorite artist!

Yep, I like her very much. It would be nice to see her version of some WoT girls :)

I really wish she would do one! I don't do her justice, but if you're interested I'm working on a painting of Rand/Egwene inspired by her style [link]

I ADORE your sketch! Especially the dragon (those tears of his...) and the cute little fox (owww, poor thing!). The only things I'm not in love with are the doves (though they are lovely), which I find a bit inadequate compared to all the other Rand-dominated symbols, (... well, thy're fine when I regard them as analogous to the apple blossoms, both symbolizing a specific bond :) ), and Callandor, which could be more sophisticated (but I can imagine you wanted it to be similar to Justice). Can't wait to see it finished!

I haven't seen your art before. Stephanie inspiration is noticeable in some of the pieces, indeed! :)

The doves are inadequate, I agree, but I needed something to balance the composition and couldn't think of anything better. My problem with Callandor is that the blade is supposed to be curved, but that made it look silly. We'll see how it looks once it's painted. anyway, enough about me :) thanks for the comments!

You're welcome. For that picture I'm your fan now :)

Ow, and just one more thing: did you think of the ravens replacing the doves?

Yes, but the ravens are a Seanchan/DO thing and I thought it distracted from the point of the painting, which is the tension between Rand and Egwene over the breaking of the seals. Since they both agree on the Seanchan, I didn't want to highlight that. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure I've already outlined the birds in pen or I might go change it (to reflect the omnipresence of the twin threats, or to highlight Egwene's particular hatred for the Seanchan).

You're not the first to see the doves and go "eh?" And now I've started doing it :P

Okay, it's great anyway, and the doves are so cute... and in making one (i.a. Rand, the fox and the wolf) go "eh?" they are just like Egwene sometimes is, so it fits well :)

Could you post the link to Zorm's piece? It's kind of hard to read the text here. Thanks!

Also love the piece by RoseMuse!

Sorry that clicking on the image doesn't work!

The title of the work is also a link to the same page, and the artist's name links to their gallery page.

Let me know if clicking on the title doesn't work and I'll post the link here.
