Tower Guards Selected

Three weeks ago we announced that we were taking applications for "Tower Guard" for the upcoming TOWERS OF MIDNIGHT signing tour. Like last year's Storm Leaders, these are volunteers that will assist Brandon and Harriet at each signing event. You might see them taking photos, writing notes for an official report or handing out some really cool Wheel of Time swag.

 

In total, we received 324 applications for 56 positions in eight cities, the most coming in for Provo, Utah's midnight release event. So if you didn't get chosen, don't feel bad. You're in good company. If you weren't chosen this year, please try again when A MEMORY OF LIGHT is released.

 

Here are the first names and last initials of everyone selected this year.

 

Note: There are some extra names on some lists. These are people who have made extraordinary contributions to the fandom and have been added to the list by request. They did not take a spot away from another Tower Guard.

I am very jealous of those that were chosen. But I do have to wonder, if the most entries came in for the Provo signing, is 8 people going to be enough to handle the crowds? I am still available if you decide that more guards are needed;)

I can't tell you how excited I am to be selected as a Tower guard! I'm Matthew L in Sacramento. I've been reading the books longer than I've been married (16 years for those of you keeping track at home) and the chance to thank Mr Sanderson and Crew for picking up the torch has me almost speechless.

AH, devastated. This truly does suck. I saw this when it was posted up and very wisely decided not to post anything there because I was swimming between asking how and why, and swimming between offer up cash to any Dallas Tower Guard who backed down from their spot. I then remembered that bribery wasn't excepted by DM, and so I sunk down a sulked for the next few days and here I am. To the Dallas Tower Guards, make it SUPREME! Either way, I'll probably be hanging around that Boarders all day long anyways, so it will be cool just to be there I guess.

 

It hurts to say it, but Congrats to all the Tower Guard winners.

Congrats to everyone chosen! Luckily they're saving me for next year's event (I hope....). Can't wait to see everyone in Dallas!!!

Yeah, I opted out of this year's Tower Guards so I've got a chance for A Memory of Light. ;)

 

But congratulations to everyone and I'll see you Dallas people Nov. 4th!
