In a way, Mat is like the comic relief character. Yes he is an awesome character and I love his sections. He is also important and all, but for the past few books, Ran'ds whole plot line has been serious and dark so that makes the character of Mat even more important to the reader to lighten the dark mood. I think Jordan, and then Sanderson have done an amazing job transforming Rand slowly but surely. When I re-read the early books some time ago, I was struck with how different Rand is in the later books. He still has a good nature, but he lost his way and Rand characterizes himself the same way in this latest chapter. Great stuff.

Hopeflly, Bela doesn't turn out to be the character Rand needs to speak to. :-)

I really hate the US covers and won't be buying them anymore. I'm going to preorder from the Amazon.UK, and hopefully replace all my US versions. They should seriously offer the UK cover version in the US. Simply not fair. I'm dying to read the book and I'm not reading anything early!!

maybe you could ask your local library to order the american version so you could read it before you get the UK book? Books can take a bit of time to get here from the UK.

@kemosabe19 Is there anywhere that the UK covers can be viewed online? I have never really cared for the covers. Take the cover for Towers of Midnight whoever did that never read the books the tower of Genghie is supposed to be made of metal not stone.
