Mops, Buckets and Notes

IC: Coming in from her weekly ride, Zeveria reined in and stopped. Lark was a steady brown gelding with intelligent eyes. His beauty mark a singe white stripe that goes diagonally across his right rear buttock is very noticeable. Sliding out of the saddle as gracefully as she could manage, Veria walked Lark into the stables. Handing Lark over to a groom with instructions to have him fed and brushed she left the stables and headed for her room.

 

Once she arrived at the Accepted Halls, she walked a short way and noticed a small flood in the hall. Looking for a servant to deal with the problem, she saw a novice walking by.

 

"You there!! Please come here." Veria waited for the girl to come over to her. "Could you please go to the supply room down the hall and get a bucket and mop. There is a small flood starting a few doors down on the left. I will get some one to come and fix the problem. I'll be back."

 

Turning down the hall, Zeveria went in search of a repairman.

 

OOC: ok so you know what to do. when Veria comes back she'll give you more to do.

Kaiari had just returned from delivering something a particular Accepted and was now heading back to her own rooms. Her head was lowered slightly, as she passed another Accepted.

 

She heard the woman's voice and looked up, giving a curtsy as the woman spoke to her. When the woman instructed her to head down the hall to the supply room for a bucket and mop, Kaiari gave a nod. "Yes ma'am" she replied with another curtsy, before heading off down the hall.

 

Kaiari approached the supply room and noticed that a servan or perhaps another novice had left the door to the supply room ajar.

 

She opened it futher, grabbed the bucket and mop that she need for the specific job she was instructed to do. As she turned and headed back out of the supply room, she closed the door as was proper, so no one would accidently run into an opened door.

 

She returned to the area that needed mopping, and went straight to work, cleaning up the water. As she mopped, she paused briefly, to ring her mop, then continued, again.

 

Once the water was cleaned up, she headed back down the hall to the supply room, properly cleaned the mop, emptied the bucket, and put both back in thei places. She then walked out of the supply room, remembering to close the door behind her.

 

Kaiari headed back down the hall, to where the small flood had been, and waited patiently, for the Accepted to return, in case she had other orders for her.

IC: sending the workmen ahead of her Veria walked back to the mess. Hopefully the Novice whom she had recruited to clean up the mess from the floor had done her job.

 

Arriving back in the halls, she spoted the novice standing and waiting. Veria quickly looked over the floor and saw she had done the mopping as asked. nodding to the girl she steped towards the door to hear if the workmen were there yet. It seemed as if they were for the nosies coming from the room. Satisfied she turn and looked at the girl she had put to work.

 

"are you busy at the moment?? I'd like some help if you are able." the girl responded int he way she was hoping. "Great! please come with me. I'll have some food brought up and we can get to work."

 

after arrivng at at her room, Veria asked a servant to bring up some food for her and the novice. once they wer sitting and eating veria realized she had not asked the girls name.

 

"my dear, may i ask your name? i have been very rude, please forgive me."

 

After some introdution and having a quick lunch they got to work. Veria explained that they were to do some transcribing and copying of some older texts. it was going to be a tedious job but well worth the effort. It ment the preservation of knowledge, and that was always important. Veria pointed Kaiari in the direction of paper, pens and the books they needed to work on. Veria was already lost in her work before Kaiari was started.

Kaiari didn't have to wait long for the woman to return. The workmen had already disappeared into the very room the mess had come from.

 

When the woman returned, Kaiari gave a curtsy, remaining quiet until she was spoken to.

 

"No ma'am...was only heading back to my room." she said, as she lowered her eyes a bit. "I'd be glad to help, ma'am." she replied as she followed the woman to her room.

 

Once there, she stopped a servant and aked to have food brought up to them. When it was brought up, and they had sat and began to eat, the Accepted asked her name. "Kaiari, ma'am!" she offered.

 

Once the introductions were out of the way, and they had finished eating, she listened intently to the deep red haired woman.

 

Kaiari found the woman being of a kind nature, unlike the few others she had met. She rather like this woman and was glad to help her.

 

Kaiari grabbed the things she would need, as the Accepted had pointed to them. When she turned back to the woman, she was already deep into her work.

 

Kaiari returned to her seat, and concentrated on the task before her...a rather tedious one...but not too difficult for her to handle.

 

The task set for her took time...time she had plenty of...and didn't mind using her time to help another.

IC: Noticing her eyes getting sore Veria streched. the candle had burnt down a good inch. looking over at kaiari, she saw the girl was busy at work. gettingup and moving over to the table with a pitcher of water, veria poured out a couple of glasses. taking one over to the girl she saw her work. neat writing and many pages done. veria was impressed. Handing Kaiari the glass of water she said...

 

"excellent work Kaiari. your are a big help. how long have you been inthe tower?"

Kaiari had been so intent on the work she had been asked to do, that she had barely noticed how the time had seemed to have slipped by unnoticed.

 

She had been doing her best to not make a mistake on the copying, seeing how important it was...that she hadn't noticed the Accepted getting up and going over to pour them a couple of glasses of water from the water pitcher, until the woman was beside her, looking over her shoulder, and handing the glass to her, as she spoke.

 

Kaiari looked up from her work, and gave a smile. "Thank you ma'am." she said as she accepted the glass, and took a drink, before replying to the woman's question.

 

"I've been here for nearly six months, I suppose. I've been kept so busy, that I've nearly forgotten when I actually arrived!" she said as she took another drink from the glass.

IC: nodding her head, veria remembered her early novice days. full of pranks and trouble. Ranine, her best friend and accomplise got into trouble all the time.

 

"six months. thats good enough time to know what your doing and be adjusted. do you have any friends in the tower yet?" taking another sip of her water she waited for the girl to answer.

She watched her nod her head, as she seemed to be remembering back on something. As the woman spoke, she listened as she was taught to.

 

"Yes ma'am...it seems that I have found myself helping many in such a way...but I don't mind much...it's a perfect way to get familiarized with this place, to find my way around and such. Although I still get lost sometimes...I just pray that i don't end up in an area that i'm not supposed to be in." she said with a faint smile.

 

Kaiari gave a small frown, as the woman asked if she had any friends here. "No ma'am...had one a roommate, but haven't seen her around in quite some time! We were just getting to know each other...and then didn't see her again. Not sure what happened or where she is...I fear the worse though." she replied as the sadness held in her eyes.

 

She gave a small shake of her head, "I know it doesn't do good to dwell on such things...it's just that when I came here...I came with a friend...Ellamina was her name...during a study time with my roommate...one that required us going over a list of those who had been 'Stilled or Burned Out' and had to be put out of the Tower. Amelia and I had been study most of the evening, and growing very tired. We were about to call it quits for the night, when there on the very last page, at the bottom...I..uh..." she paused, as she found how difficult it still was to say what happened.

 

"Ellamin's name was there...she had been 'Stilled' and put out of the Tower. So you see why I am a bit worried about Amelia...since I've not seen her around? She was the only friend I had here, after Ellamina was..." she paused as she looked up at the Accepted.

 

"I am sorry...I should not go on like that! Is there anything else you would like me to do...ma'am?" she said as she tried getting rid of those thoughts on her two friends.

IC: Listening to the sad story that Kaiari spoke of, Veria understood the somber look of the girls face. the look had been about her since Veria met her.

 

"hummm, that is heart breaking." veria responded."have you spoken to the MON about yet? she will be able to help you." thinking a moment on the girls last question veria decided that there was nothing more to be done. "You have finished up everything that needed to be done. thank you for your help. make sure you get some food and rest tonight. you may go."

 

watching the novice go, veria hoped that she would see the mon. She surely need help with the depression that had settled upon her. turning her thoughts elseware, Veria felt she needed to streach her legs. snuffing out the candle and lamp, she left to go for a walk.

 

OOC: you know you could turn the troubled feelings that kaiari is having into an rp with the MON,and then maybe with a yellow sister. It could be good charater developement. :)

As the woman listened to Kaiari, she then asked if she had spoken to the MON about how she was feeling. Kaiari just shook her head, "No ma'am...I've only been doing things that have been asked of me...my classes and returning to my room. I try not to think on it...but it is difficult." she said.

 

As the woman told her there was nothing else for her to do, she gave a small nod, stood, gave a curtsy and left the woman's rooms without another word. She made her way through the Accepted quarters then down the stairs to the Novice quarters.

 

She didn't really want to go back to her room, but had no idea what else she could do. Chores were done, she had no classes.

 

She headed back to her own room, entered, then sat on her bed, thinking of what the Accepted had told her. 'Maybe I should talk to the MON!' she thought to herself, as she laid down, staring at the empty bed across from her, that had been her roommate's.

 

She continued to think on the woman's words, until she had fallen asleep, only to wake in the night due to her dreams. She had had the same ones, ever since she had seen Ellamina's name on that list.

 

A dream of her closest friend, being stilled and put out of the Tower, although the dream never actually shows the part of her friend being stilled, it was just something that was known within the dream, then showed the girl being put out of the Tower.

 

As Kaiari sat up on her bed, tears streaming down her face, which she had wiped away, then realizing that she still wore her white Novice dress, she got up, changed, then laid back down.

 

She had a feeling she'd not get much sleep this night, but did her best to try and go back to sleep, hopefully not to dream of that same dream.
