Ahh but the Grand theft auto one has been playing in before movies for a least a few months now. I didn't consider it a newer ad.

I liked the idea behind the Career builder ones, but they didn't make me laugh that much.

I agree outsider, that one did catch my attention.

Overall, I wasn't impressed with the commercials.

What is your favorite superbowl commercial of all time?

I read today that the Snickers ad has been pulled off the air. It was doomed from the beginning though wasn't it? All the straight people who are homophobic hated it and thought it was 'gross' because two mens lips touched. And the Gay rights activists hated and started complaining about it because the characters acted like they had done something wrong or demeaning.

The sprint "anti-theft device" one is great and still makes me laugh out loud.

But I'm extremely partial to the catherding one from years ago. Ah, I love that commercial. Especially the black guy who's all "I wouldn't do nothing else."

They also have a similar "running with the squirrels" one that's cute, too.

I heard about the Snickers commercial.

A few years ago GM had an SSR commercial that showed all these kids with bars of soap in the mouth, looking glum, and then you see the reason why. Bright shiny yellow SSR comes rolling buy, retracting its hard-top convertible hood, and there's a kid on the sidewalk going "Holy sh--" and then cut to him with soap in his mouth. We had to pull the commercial because of outrage about how washing kids' mouths out with soap was cruel and unusual punishment, child abuse, blah blah blah. It just goes to show how subject corporations are to public outcry, even if it's from a minority.

It's the society we live in. Political correctness has a stranglehold on creativity. What can ya do?

Speaking of Political Correctness gone awry, has everyone heard of the flap over the halftime show? Just when we thought it was OK and there was no wardrobe malfunction, it turns out people are crying because the image of Prince playing his guitar being projected on the giant sheet looked 'phallic'. I just knew when I was watching it that someone would complain and they have, though it's a smaller minority this time and no one seems as worried about it. The link below covers both the Snickers and Prince stories.

I heard about the snickers commercial being pulled this morning.

I like how it is freedom of speech .. wait... unless it offends someone.

And now another PC update... The GM commercial with the robot throwing itself off the bridge has come under fire from some Suicide Prevention groups...

In other non-superbowl news, I learned from the same news update as above that at a Florida theater where 'The Vagina Monologues' are to be performed, the venue chose to rename the act 'The Hoohaa Monologues' after one complaint from a woman who was offended after having to explain to her neice what a vagina is... (anyway, what kind of parents raise a daughter to an age where she's old enough to read, but doesn't know the prober names of her parts! )

wtf!! then she'll just have to explain to her kid what a hooha was. The whole point of the vagina monologues (though I haven't seen them) is taking ownership of your bits, if you can't even name them publicly... what the hell!! Are they going to change vagina to "hooha" during the entire play as well?

a friend of mine is an elementary school teacher. Every year the first grade puts on a Beatrix Potter play. A child became upset when she was assigned the part of "Jemima" Puddleduck because her family calls girl parts jemima. wtf? So instead of using a scientific word they teach the kid a perfectly harmless word is a "bad word." And the family knew the play was coming up!!! they had other kids go through it before, and yet they didn't think to talk things out before it happened!
