I know a lot more about Des than you.  I've been playing with him my entire career and we are probably the closest thing to a friendly rivalry that this entire website has.  It isn't that one of us starts a game, it is how.  This is the exact reason that we are on one another almost instantly each game and if we aren't we wreck games.

 

Still proud that I caught him on his first post one game.  He said "ok" or something similar.

 

I anticipate Des to present charismatic arguments, force situations and generally flare on people to boost their reactivity.  He then takes their reactions and uses those to whittle away at them.  It is him regardless of if he is town or scum and regardless of if he is on town or scum though in time he has become better at recognizing the differences.  

 

However, town Des is going to attack.  He is suicidal town and he is going to play to WIN on D1 because he knows he is either getting lynched for being entirely wrong or getting NK'd for being entirely right by the 3rd phase.  

 

Mafia Des won't do this.  He plays with the same bravado to imitate it but his tone changes because he can't afford to lose himself and he tends to not trust his team to win on their own.  He wants to remain in control of the situations and so he will be more conscientious.  

 

Any time I catch des caring for his own life, attempting to keep control or leaving himself a way out of every situation I go for it.  Here we see the first and third.  

 

I ask about Des specifically because of this post. I'm wondering what's changed for you since then... brief explanation is OK.

Kind of awkward... I never actually submitted a vote from Des.  I forgot to yesterday and could have saved Verb from having to hammer.  I wonder... if I force them to hammer a lynch bomb do they die?

Also, I found out something cool that I am going to share come morning.  It isn't a big deal and isn't impactful on the game but it does solve a problem so I will reveal it come morning.  

 

I was wondering if you had forgotten about your ability when you were asking about the vote counts but I don't yet have a reason to get on your case... except for your reynolds wrap problem, which is slightly my fault, admittedly.

 

I'm thinking about players that may have been unduly cleared. How certain are you that Des is town? That Clov is town?

 

Well, Des has considerably grown since his bout at the champions game so it is harder to say with him now.  I admittedly underestimated that.  Clov just fit with me really well so I don't have much reason to suspect him.

Are all good suspects imo. Clov for his TMI slip, Jack cause his responses haven't looked that good so far imo, like he's trying too hard to feign amusement with everything. And Dawn has been hiding behind fluff imo- her contributions to the game so far are "LOL lynch Team Jacob! I'm on Team Kill Everyone! LOL!" and... that's about it. Thinking the recent soft little nudge/fos could have been distancing on Jack's part. Clov also came to Jack's rescue earlier, and I don't like the way he seems to be hedging his bets with Cory in his recent posts.

More about Des: this early scumlist has a lot of "easy" guys on it. Jack looked horrible from what I see, Dawn is clueless (no offense), and Clov is brand new to DM. Meanwhile, a lot of the currently POE scummy players are smack dab in the middle of his list. His Clov scumslip post was a joke. 

 

It doesn't make him lock scum or anything, and I have gotten townie vibes from him during our prior argument, but as you said, he's someone we shouldn't underestimate or lock clear, particularly before we've had a scum flip.

 

I anticipate he flips out on me in about 3 hours.

I believe Des to be town. Except for the initial contradictions, I have liked his posts and can understand how he is thinking. Des has four votes - Dawn, Darthe, Jack, Clov.
 
Dawn - really don´t like her latest posts either. Her reason for voting Des is because his tone is like someone else´s tone in another game. And Clov is "scummy". I´m not sure why she thinks I´m suspicious, maybe I´m "scummy" too. There are no proper reasons at all. She doesn´t comment on anyones gameplay. At the same time - would mafia let someone play this way if they were on a team? You that have played with her before - how did she behave then and how is compared to this game?
 
Darthe - parked his vote on Des pretty early. A vote that I don´t agree with. I must say that I haven´t paid a lot of attention to Darthe so far though.
 
Jack - I really don´t like his play at all. He OMGUS voted me and stayed there for a long time and then when Des called him out for it he voted Des instead. 
 
Clov - I see what Des is saying. I was satisfied with Clov´s explanation but Des might be right. 
 
 
From these I would rather vote Jack but could vote Clov as well.

Wow. Last few pages have been ... quite painful to get through.

 

First of all, meh @ Jack flipping town. Would have been nice to see him flip as scum, but we still had a very productive day. And the bpv claim was just a bit too convenient, and had we not lynched him today he likely would have been a potential late game mislynch because of the wifom around his claim.

 

Second- I don't know if I've been in a game in which Darthe's head was stuck this far up his keyster. It's quite amazing actually, that Darthe even after all this time still has the ability to make me stare at my computer screen in utter disbelief, that someone as intelligent as him could spew the most illogical and antitown arguments on thread, I also don't even see him as town anymore, that just doesn't seem likely at all at this point. His tone and activity level changed DRASTICALLY after the flip, and this is something I recently pointed out about him when he was scum in the Hydra game. He has a difficult time lately keeping from getting too excited after certain moments of the game and gives himself away because of it.

 

Plus in general he should know how absurd it is to come in all Captain Hindsight after a flip to try and demonize those on the lynch after a D1 mislynch. The whole "they have proven they are unable to find scum" thing was both the most ridiculous and the scummiest thing anyone has said so far this game.

 

I'm gonna just save the rest for later, after audit I plan on going piece by piece and dismantling Darthe's arguments for the tissue paper soft fluff they are.

Darthe came to a few conclusions which I remember- that I'm scum or obviscum (false), that Csarmi is town because of some blah blah fluff about trains (we don't know, altho if Darthe is scum I think he spewed Csarmi/Tommy as town), and that there's definite scum in me, Cory, and Tina, when none of us have flipped scum and I KNOW I'm town and have strong town reads on the other two.

 

Basically the only conclusion that Darthe even COULD have been right about was Csarmi being town... and if anything Darthe bragging about being "right" about that when that is far from confirmed makes him look sketchballs as hell.

 

ALso don't think Jack was anywhere NEAR "clearly town". Look at his iso. It really is a lot of whyme fryme and OMGUS. How was he clear town again?

You make a few points that I wanted highlighted here. This is all logical progression cory. Here we are:

 

1. These votes are not being redistributed randomly, meaning that the three of you are a uniform unit for voting purposes.

 

2. Your independent affects on the game are insignificant but combined create extra value or meaning.

 

3. Jack flipping town increases the odds that mafia were on his lynch.

 

 

4. With these three facts above how do I respond to it when I see on thread that at one point you voted des, that he and you distanced from tina for a while or that 5. so far your group has proven itself unfit to find mafia? Ill tell you exactly what it says.

 

It says that your group isnt entirely town. 6. I dont know who is mafia or how but at least one of you clearly is. That you are unwilling to acknowledge that doesnt look good for you.

 

7. If you have to order you three from town/scum then what do you say?

 

This one is a doozy.

 

1. Exactly- our votes are not distributed randomly, nor are they distributed by mindless automatons. Guess what Darthe? People that see other people as town will sometimes agree with reads or where to place votes. The fact that we three were promoting voting activity at the start of the game should NOT be something that leads you to conclude we are all possible scum.

 

2. This is an ambiguously worded statement that essentially means nothing. By talking about a tenous link he himself has created, he tries to build it up as a "fact" later on when nothing, especially nothing close to a factual statement, is being said here.

 

3. Uh, what? You're just freaking generalizing. That's not always the case, so by going by probability why not just lynch randomly every day? You HAVE to judge the CONTEXT of the freaking situation to see where scum are more likely to be hiding. In this case, for me I would say that the sudden late bandwagoners might be looked at, but other than that I suspect wolves were totally fine with hanging on the sidelines when two trains were town/town (mine and Jack's), so the outlier votes are where I think scum would be most easily caught.

 

4. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL @ your three "facts". More like one misconception, one empty statement saying nothing, and another weak probabilities based generalization that doesn't necessarily have any relevance in THIS game. Three facts roflmao. You're such a joker Darthe.
