February Movie of the Month

I wanted to choose something that would be on a few times and had some interesting things to talk about, so February's Movie of the Month is....

Grosse Pointe Blank

On TV:

Date Time Channel

Saturday, Jan, 13 02:00 PM TNT

Sunday, Jan, 14 02:30 AM TNT

We will begin discussing this film starting February 1st. Please try to check it out on TNT if you have not seen it.

A few questions to consider while viewing it:

Could this make a good TV series?

Is Joan Cusack only able to get a movie deal if her brother is the star?

More importantly, does Joan Cusack get on your nerves as much as she gets on mine?

What are John Cusack's best films?

If you've never seen this one before WATCH IT! that's an order! As a movie it totally surprised me and I was laughing out loud as I watched it.

I thought about it, but really I wanted to give people plenty of time to watch it if they haven't seen it before. Plus I am hoping to draw more people to this board before February.

How many of you have already seen the movie?

I will see if I can get a friend to download it somehow since I don't have access to American TV or a television in our house. And before you ask, it was a house decision not to have a TV, since we are all students and didn't want to waste more money.

Also, for the future, could Europeans and non-Americans be taken into consideration with the film, as we may not have the same access as you Americans! Thanks!

Grosse Pointe Blank has been out on DVD and etc for years, so hopefully it wouldn't be too difficult to get ahold of. Corki, what sort of criteria would you look for in a movie of the month in order to better consider participants from around the world?

For me personally, as long as it is either on DVD or can be downloaded, I am happy as we have

- nice speedy internet where I live, and my housemates know places to download films etc etc

- an account with Amazon to hire DVDs through a housemate

As for other non-Americans, you will need them to comment on that as I don't want to comment on their behalf.

I echo the sentiment. Watch it!

Oh, if you have iTunes, and wanted to purchase it ($9.99), it's available there for download.

My favorite scenes are:

1. The gun battle towards the end as Martin is telling Debbie how he as changed and asks her to marry him, and the dad pops up saying he approves.

2. The gun battle in the Quiky mart the guy playing Doom is just jamming while his store is getting shot up.

It would be interesting to see how they could do GPB as a TV show but I don't think it would be good. Remember Mr and Mrs Smith? It only had the pilot.

Midnight Garden of Good and Evil is one of my favorite movies.

Favorite Cusack movies - Being John Malkovich or Better Off Dead... where is my two dollars!

I agree, the battle in the quickie mark was great. I also liked how he told everyone he met that he was a professional killer and then laughed it off like he was lying.

I actually can see them doing a TV show of this.... something like an Alias but... you know... better.

Yeah the annoying office assistant that tries to burn the place down when things go badly.

Stop saying she's annoying!

First of all, she's lovely. Second of all - it's a great role! She's poring gasoline all over the office, while she's... wait for it... smoking a cigarette! Come on!

And she gets just as angry over soup as she does ammunition. It's brilliant dammit!

Her voice beckons me to pull off my ears and use them as wings to reenact the state that was FIRST IN FLIGHT!

Birthplace of aviation my arse!
