Corwin couldn’t stay in the Black Hills.  He knew Eqwina’s secret, and he wouldn’t step over the same line she had.  He may have given up on the Creator, but he would not be foolish enough to swear his soul over.  It was the harsh reality of his life and while she didn’t say it was the cause of tension between them, he knew that it was part of everything.

There was no denying the feelings that were there, but part of him was beginning to wonder if it was more the aspect of the danger, the forbidden nature of it all that had led them on their emotional journey.  As he reflected, he thought of the beginning of their relationship.  It was built on so much anger, he couldn’t help but smirk and chuckle.  How did we ever get past all of that?

The answer was obvious though, sex.  It had been the base of venting their frustrations and getting their anger with each other out, and had done a magnificent job.  Once the anger and pain were all cleared away they had a romance he didn’t know if he would ever find the likes again.  Once upon a time they really did seem like they were meant to be.

But his time in the Hills away from Tar Valon and Eqwina had given him some mental and emotional clarity.  Though she would have that part of him, the danger of their relationship was too great.  He wouldn’t budge and she couldn’t.  Thus instead of meeting with her again, he went for a clean break.

She never would have let him go willingly.  She had almost killed him several times in anger, and if she knew he was going to leave… she wouldn’t risk that.  It was time for Corwin to go where he knew he could fit in, the Boarderlands.

It wouldn’t be safe to join one of the city guards.  He had enough skill with the blade that too many questions would arise.  And even if they weren’t spoken, they would be noticed and passed on to others and their spy networks.  He had an inclination that Eqwina had a spy network set up almost everywhere, and what better way to find him than to find a mysteriously skilled swordsman?

Instead he took his time migrating north.  He probably could have made it to Kandor in weeks instead of a couple months.  But he didn’t want to rush into his new life.  He was an old man now and travel was harder on his body than it used to be.  So this is what it feels like to become old….

The truth be told he should have slowed down like this years ago, but the Bond had slowed all of it down for him.  Now it was time for him to enjoy his life.

The next two years Corwin enjoyed in relative solitude.  He lived his life hunting his food and built himself a small cottage well away from where travelers should be.  He didn’t want to have the cottage, but with Kandori winters, there wasn’t another option unless he wanted to migrate.  It wasn’t a lavish life that he lived, but he had all he really needed.  He was able to hunt enough to get by, and there was a stream for water.  Unfortunately like all good things, his solitary life had to come to an end.

One morning he left for hunting to come back and find people poking around his cottage.  He didn’t have much, after all it only had a kitchen and bedroom, but the people weren’t leaving.  Which meant it was time for him to go.  He just couldn’t trust others knowing Eqwina could be hunting him.  Her passion was an amazing thing, but her anger would burn almost as hot.  While she may profess to love him, he had little doubt that she was infuriated by his leaving, and hurt.  The pain would only lead to more anger, and she would have emotionally holed herself off again.  But if she had the chance to kill him… there was little doubt she would take it.  He had put that woman through the Pit of Doom, and in several ways probably deserved what she would do to him.  But that didn’t mean he wanted her to do it.

It was time to go south.  These Kandori winters weren’t good on his old body anyway.  As he traveled he went through Andor.  Feeling the area he was in would be far enough from most, since he hadn’t seen anyone in a few days, Corwin decided to go hunting and set up shop again.  Cottages took time though and so first he lived out of his tent.

As luck would have it he found a deer his first day.  It was a doe, but one couldn’t be selective of kills these days.  Pulling out his bow he killed her cleanly.  Once a field dressing was done, Corwin slung the doe over his shoulders and took her to his tent to skin.  The doe weight more than he thought though, or he was feeling his age more and more.  Guess I gotta get myself back into shape…

ooc um slight copy paste error?

Liitha wadled through the wet ponds, she wondered how she was going to get to the apartment without geting a lecture, she had signed up for patrolling to have something to do while Cara tended to her duties whatever they were, what she hadnt acounted for was this rain, she was sooked through, and could only imagine the scowls she would get. If she only had not agreed to bring in lunch, she would have gone to a tavern to eat and dry out, she probably could it wouldnt be the first day Cara was so busy she was late, however with her luck this would be the day she wasnt which would mean missing a chance to spend some time together during daytime.

Lii knew she could always give up patrolling, but it would drive her insane to stare at the wall, she finally came to a stop at one of the back entrances of the tower, she shook her cloak, folded it up inside out, then opened the door and stepped out of her boots and onto the floor inside, then turned around and grabed the boots, shook them off as best she could against the stone stairs and closed the door behind her.

Well now walking barefoot would get her some looks, however the carpets on the floor of this hallway would dry off her feet, which at least meant she wouldnt be leaving mudstains on the ajah floors. She hurried upstairs trying to take hallways less likely to be frequently used, and got into the apartment without catching too many scowls. She put the boots down beside the door, and went into the bathroom where she rinsed off the cloak and hung it up to run off, the lunch she left at Cara's desk, then went over to her own with a sandwich in hand, and sat down. There was a letter on it, she flipped it over and skimmed through it, apparently someone was hunting out in the woods around the cabin, she sighed and shook her head, the fawn the kids had been raising was what had first alerted them to it, but there been signs of more hunting too.

She waited an hour reading a book, when Cara was a no show, she scribled a note and left, she would be back tomorow, it was probably nothing...it was a good hunting terrain, though enough out of the way it wasnt where people tended to go first or stick around, it wouldnt hurt to check it out, afterall the family was alone out there even if the boy was starting to grow up.

She soon had her horse sadled and was on her way over the bridge out of the city, the stallion knew his way well afterall he had been born out at her small farm place, and been there many a time. She let him set the pace and let her thougths drift as the day passed and the skies broke overhead.
