No counterclaims, please

Whew, that one stinks.

I didn't expect a novice like yourself to understand the logic of this situation.

Oh my.

*isallflusterednow*

I'm sure you're right. I'll just sit quietly and try to learn from your excellent play.

I wonder, is Asmo trying to bus or just ignorant?

This must be a huge coincidence because I was wondering if you could defend Moridin any harder, or if you wanted to discuss the merits and benefits of a likely false claim?

Posted

Why don't we start with a few silly questions?

What are the odds that the first train of the game would nab a Doc?

Why would a Doc choose to draw unnecessary attention to themselves by sticking up for a player they know nothing about?

Does it seem likely that a mafia team might spot a goof from a player that they know is not mafia so that they look good when that player is revealed as town?

Keep in mind that there is no rush to lynch Moridin, now at L-3. But some folks might see the wisdom of looking into the above questions a bit more before heading in a different direction, like you seem to be in a hurry to do.

I am more than happy to discuss the merits of such a claim. Doctor is an exceedingly stupid fake claim for scum to make.

Yeah, cause it would just be stupid to either kill the Doc after they counterclaimed, or alternatively, to ride through the game unchallenged until the Doc dies.

But please, oh mafia prodigy, explain more of your wisdom to us.

Low.

I don't know. Personally, I would rather attack a player I know nothing about.

Unlikely for an experienced mafia team. Likely for any other mafia team.

No rush to lynch Moridin? L2 is pretty close to lynch and votes were coming pretty quick (you may have missed this, but he is only at L3 because I unvoted)

I am more than happy to let a scum ride through the game if it means a doctor rides through the game. Doctor is the most important role at endgame.

2. Why would a Doc choose to draw unnecessary attention to themselves by sticking up for a player they know nothing about?

1. Low. Low as in 5% - that's pretty low. On the other hand, it might be the first role the mafia would fake claim, seeing how important it is and all.

2. I don't know. Personally, I would rather attack a player I know nothing about. No one asked you what you would do - your actions are not being discussed (yet). The question is why would Moridin do what he did? Putting together a case based on his actions seems like a good idea since there is a 95% likelihood he is not the Doc.

Unlikely for an experienced mafia team. Likely for any other mafia team. Thanks for not helping in any way whatsoever.

Cop is also an important role, I think, and Cops are expected to reveal if they find mafia. But you are happy to let scum ride through the game? I think that the mafia are glad you are playing the game

At the risk of quoting pop-culture, you are glib. You come across like an experienced mafia player, but offer nothing. maybe you should dust off that big head of yours and jump in and play.

How about we all discuss what has happened and then let the group make a decision? I have brought up some questions that I would like to know everyone's thoughts on. I am not ready to recommend or to go along with any action yet. Let each player share their thoughts before anyone does anything.

For now, I believe Moridin because, as I have said before, I almost never vote an unCCed doc. However, I would encourage the doc to counterclaim since we will get mafia and the doc can protect his or herself.

Bolding mine. How do you know that Moridin's not the doc?

#1: Very slim at best. It's not unheard of though. It all depends on what goes on - and what each player decides to do or not do. You leap in like Moridin did, you're gonna get burned.

#2: Gauging reactions is the only logical reason I can think of. And even then, it'd be a pretty boneheaded move on the Doc's part. The point is to survive so you can keep people alive, and you can't do that very well when you've already been outed. The only semi-redeeming quality is that it does create WIFOM for the mafia to figure out, but it also screws the town over for the future.

#3: Pretty sure you think that he's lying from the way you phrase that question, but I'll humor you anyway. Gotta say that it is very likely imo that a good scum team would do exactly that. The problem here though is that we aren't certain of both Moridin and SH's alignments. Assuming stuff is bad. For all we know, they could both be scum, both be town, or mixed. The point here is that we DON'T know. Moridin might be town defending someone he sees as town (however sloppily he did it), or he could be lying through his ass.

Meh, I already said this before, I didn't stick up for Rand. You could have inserted "Generic Player X" and I would have made the same argument.

Not really a case of sticking up for RH, more a case of seeing obvious scum using scummy reasoning to pull off a scummy lynch. It could have been anyone who made the slip, I would still call it out. Principles, people.

As for the Doc supposedly sitting back and not calling out scummy behavior, why don't I just go take a three day nap and just wait for Night to actually play the game? That's the most absurd logic I've ever heard. Are you seriously suggesting that I not make cases and vote for players that exhibit scummy behavior? What's the point in even playing then? The fact that I have a role shouldn't just send me into hibernation for fear that someone might actually disagree with me.

Also, it's been a few hours since I stated what role I have. Haven't seen a hint of a CC yet. Kinda makes ya think don't it?

We also haven't seen a hint of the vast majority of the other players, so this is a lame argument.

Nor have we seen a hint of the all knowing Demandred after he accused me of lurking.

Kinda makes me think that if you were the real Doc, you would just invite the Cop to investigate you, as is the obvious move. Your logic just makes me think that you actually are mafia.

I would have waited to bring this up, obviously wanting to see how others spun it, but SH keeps bolding that he wants the Doc to reveal and that would, of course, is a very bad idea.

So, so far, we've got pompous "experienced" players and impetuous new players, all giving out bad advice. What could go wrong?

That wouldn't be that bad right now, we would get a mafia and doc can protect themselves if mafia tries to kill them.

Are you trying to make the town lose a power role? Your plan hinges on the fact that a Doc would CC, which may or may not happen - like Asmo pointed out, there's still a lot of people that haven't posted their thoughts on that subject yet. If Moridin's not the real doc, then the real one is doing the right thing by not rising to the bait. If Moridin's the real doc, then a CC will reveal scum.

True, i forgot about that. Ok, now I see why you don't want the doc to CC.
