Training Info.

Since we do not currently have a website to host all our pertinent training information, and since we have so many newcomers to the division (yea for newbies!) I thought I'd use this to consolidate the training regimen for the Wolfkin Division here at DM.

There are two stages of progression within the Division.  The first stage is very similar for all and includes the progression from Wanderer, through the Wolfcub stage, to full Wolfbrother/sister status.  The second stage is progression through the various levels of training within a character's chosen division of the Kin.

First, that training which is consistent to all.  After being found and brought to the Stedding by a Tracker and then checked out by a Sage, a Wanderer will usually be assigned to a mentor to guide them through their initial training and help them adjust to life in the Kin.  This training consists of four classes with two levels each that are usually done in two threads.  The first thread will consist of training the Wanderer in the uses and limitations of their new Senses, providing basic knowledge of Herblore, introducing them to the Weapons of their choice, and demonstrating some of the abilities available and dangers inherent in the Dream.  Upon completion of these four classes the student is known throught the Kin as a Wolfcub.

The second thread between mentor and student progresses through the next phase of training in all four of these areas and occurs a few weeks later.  Senses training will allow the student the opportunity to prove to their mentor all that they've learned and how far they've stretched themselves in the gathering and interpreting of information through their enhanced senses.  This second phase of Herblore will ensure that the Wolfcub is able to provide simple first aid services using the plants found in the area.  Before passing this phase of training the Wolfcub must prove to their mentor that they can adequately defend themselves with their chosen Weapons.  Dream training serves to teach the student what they need to survive on their own in the Wolf-dream.  After this thread is complete the student is recognized as a Wolfsibling and is accounted a full member of the Kin and thus able to seek out entrance into one of the four divisions to further their training.

Watchers-to-be must seek out Leila Thatcher to begin their training.  Here follows information on Watcher ranks progression:

Wolfbrother/Wolfksister: A watcher wannabe! This is just the next step of promotion, like from Wanderer to Wolfcub to Wolfsib. There's three classes - survival, the dream class, and just a basic primer of what's good/bad info, who's a good/bad agent, etc (Watcher 101  ).

Scout: New Watchers, or Watchers new to an area, who can be trusted on their own but have no contacts as of yet. OOC: A Watcher about to complete the last step of training, which is to make a contact IC, preferably a PC (but an NPC if necessary - this would require work with the FL division, so I'm guessing it'll be an NPC character more often than not). From this point on 'promotion' (I've always thought) comes from activity, contributions, etc. instead of 'classes'.

Watcher: Someone who tends to stick to a specific area/city/town and has several contacts within the region - since so much of getting information from the E&E is based on trust, once a Watcher has several contacts in one area, he or she usually settles down there, to keep an eye on things. OOC, this is just your typical Watcher.

Region Heads: Someone who is a contact point for all Watchers in a certain area of the map (ie a certain country). On top of keeping track of the going-ons in their little area, they also are the ones contacted via the Dream by the regular Watchers with their information, so that they can sort through things and pick out what's really important. OOC, someone who's consistently active.

Watcher Leader: The Watcher who remains in and close to the Stedding in order to receive all of the important bits of information and take it to the Council. If s/he isn't in or close to the Stedding, a temporary Second is generally appointed just to keep things running smoothly.

Sages and Rangers do not have ranks per se but are ranked instead by scores in Dreams and Weapons respectively.  Guardians are Rangers-in-Training.

Weapons scores for all Wolfkin are earned by taking a weapons class from one with a higher ws or by teaching one weapons class to a student with a ws within three or two classes to students within 5 or three classes to students within 7.  All classes taught and taken should be reported to our Ranger Leader Owen for verification before they will be counted.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dream Scores are earned thus:
Lesson one: This should be about basic control. Show them what can happen in the dream if they let random thoughts wander. How those thoughts can come alive and cause real damage, in and out of the dream. After showing them about control have them practice this control by manuvering thier environment. (# of posts required?) Required to be promoted to Wolfcub! Worth 2 points
Lesson 2: Be able to alter clothing and other objects in the Wolf Dream with greater skill and less concentration.
Be able to summon clothing and weapons for use in the Dream without constant concentration on the object. Requried to be promoted to WolfCub!
Worth 2 Points
Lesson's one and two can be posted in the same thread, as two seperate lessons, and credit will be given per completed lesson. That means if you complete lesson one, but drop out of the thread during lesson 2 and don't complete it, you will only be given credit for lesson one, NOT for Lesson 2.
Lesson 3: This should be about stepping. Teaching them to be able to step from one place to the next in the dream by knowledge of the place or by need to be there. Problems of arriving in a place they are strongly connected to can happen, for instance, a place of great torment from their Howling. Once they learn to step this becomes a danger so they must learn control first. After this lesson they can enter the dream on their own but must remain cautious at all times. They are in no way a Novice in the dream but can take this new freedom to practice and become better. Required to be promoted to Wolbrother/sister! Worth 2 points.
Lesson 4: Next is learning to search based on need. You will need to have them search for you and see if they can find you. Lead them on a merry chase, staying one step ahead of them. Required to be promoted to Wolfbrother/sister! Worth 2 points
Again, Lessons 3 and 4 can be taught in the same thread as different lessons. Credit is given per lesson completed.
Sage Training and optional training
Lesson 5:Communicate through the Dream being able to contact others. Able to peak into others dreams, distinguish others dreams Worth 1 points Required for Watchers! Worth 1 point
Lesson 6: Learn to alter Self and to alter others in the Wolf Dream
Worth 1 point
Lesson 7: Learn to alter surrounding areas Worth 1 points
Lesson 8: Learn to follow another person Stepping across the Wolf Dream Worth 1 point
Lesson 9: Learn to control self and surroundings in a limited area (small flying, floating, levitating objects ability) Worth 1 point
Each class taught is worth 1 point until max points are achieved (14 for everyone, 18 for Sages)
Sages can opt to start an RP that involves the Sages and promotes the Sages for 3 points.
Now, I want to point out that the most points you can get just by going through all of the classes and not teaching anything is only 13. You would need to teach at least one class in addition to taking all of the other classes to get a 14.
Everyone who has taken a class can teach it. Mentor's will get credit for teaching these classes to the max point level (14).
If you have any questions feel free to contact your division leader, Owen for the Rangers, Janna for the Trackers, and Leila for the Watchers or me for any general questions you may have.
Another Sticky will be posted to include each character's rank, ws, and ds(Dream Score).
