Yellow Ajah

First post here in general, hello everyone!

I'm doing my first re-read in over 10 years (since before Winters Heart) and something struck me while reading the first few books. Why weren't the Yellow Ajah involved in separating Mat from the dagger? Granted it wasn't a typical illness, but it was an illness and the Yellows are supposed to be the experts in this area.

There were two Aes Sedai from each Ajah in Fal Dara yet there is no mention of any Yellows being involved in healing Mat.

Again no mention of a Yellow when they healed Mat for good in the Tower.

I know the Blues and Yellows don't get along so well so it's possible that Siuan didn't trust them to be involved, being a former Blue. But I don't remember there being a big secret around the illness.

The other explanation I suppose is that RJ simply hadn't decided the Yellows would a healing Ajah yet. I don't recall there being a mention of the Yellows being the "Healing Ajah" prior to tFoH. This is backed up somewhat by Nynaeve pretending to be Green Ajah on the Sea Folk ship, when Yellow is obviously the pefect Ajah for her.

So what do you think? I know, I know, not very exciting but this has been troubling me and I can't find an answer anywhere.

It's come up before. There are a few things going on here. 1) Siuan mostly chose people she felt she could trust, ironic as that may be. 2) One does not have to be Yellow to be good at Healing. 3) I gather that, in some ways, it wasn't precisely Healing, since the Aes Sedai only know one kind, and it's not complicated, as the dagger-separation thing was. 4) There was an unnamed Aes Sedai of unknown Ajah at the separation in TDR.

The other explanation I suppose is that RJ simply hadn't decided the Yellows would a healing Ajah yet. I don't recall there being a mention of the Yellows being the "Healing Ajah" prior to tFoH. This is backed up somewhat by Nynaeve pretending to be Green Ajah on the Sea Folk ship, when Yellow is obviously the perfect Ajah for her.

It's possible, though it's a strange thing for RJ to have not worked out yet, since he had clearly already decided that each Ajah had a different purpose. It's in the glossaries, but no mention of the Yellow's purpose in the early books.

another reason why the yellow might not have been involved is that mat's sickness had to remain very secret. most aes sedai would have wanted him eliminated if they knew what he was "sick" with. they would have considered him a danger to the whole world that must be destroyed. and all of that is before you even think about his connection to the horn.

EDIT: i think the yellow would likely have screamed the loudest that he must be destroyed
