Good people of SC, I just wanted you to be the first (well not first but... errr... well...errr... close to top of the list... of internet people) to know that there will soon to be a Mrs. Emperor of Seanchan as I have asked Yveva to marry me and she said yes. I mean, we all knew she would say yes because who can turn down the Emp... but... yeah.... girls are silly sometimes. So the news is out. OHHH and I am also moving to PA next week. I think I forgot to spill the beans about that too. OHHH and I have three nipples. What? Ok I made that last bit up to continue the shock factor. Anyway, here is a picture of the ring on Yveva's wee hand.

(Yes, I'm slightly bitter about the fact that we've had snow for a week now... and it looks like it's here til March... I wanna move back to the coast!)

 

If you need any advice on the legal aspect erm... don't ask me! Chris and I are still kind of muddling along. Seems like it's probably less hassle to go to the US though, especially since Yveva is already living there. I think you can apply for a fiance visa while already in the country, anyway...

 

Gotta love DM and its cross-border relationships... they're worth it though!

Err, no Empy is not moving to Canada. If I move, I can not cancel out my mom's vote for Jeb Bush and I live to make sure I can cancel her vote.

Is a fiancee visa better than her working visa? Do I get quizzed like in Green Card? I am only marrying her for a better apartment.... but plan to fall in love with her as we gradually learn more about her and then throw myself at the mercy of the immigration court when I say "Damn, I always get that one wrong" which reveals my attempt to trick the immigration department.

 

And I go outdoors Maj! You think because I love TV and movies and games that I am a white ghost that doesn't see the outdoors??? Well... I camp and walk and stuff. Hold on something good is coming on TV...

I don't think you'll be able to get a marriage license until you get the fiance visa, but I could be wrong. I do know that since she's already in the country legally it's easier to make it permanent.

 

Oh, and you can still vote if you move to Canada as we allow dual citizens :P - in fact, Chris just sent in his absentee ballot a couple of weeks ago.

As to immigration. I am already here on a visa for my job that is good through 2008. And my brother was just imported by his wife, I'm thinking we'll go through the same immigration lawyer. As I am legal all the way, have a good history of employment and debt repayment and etc I should be good. It's good to not have to worry *toooo* much about the immigration stuff before the wedding! (trying to import and marry me would be a pain, but I am already halfway imported).

Though Chris is halfway imported too and he doesn't have to leave even if his visa expires until after our application is processed.

 

Anyway, congratulations! Any idea on a date yet? I highly recommend July 16th since it's been proved by two sets of DM couples thus far... though it does fall on something silly like a Monday in 2007...
