The Significance of Lanfears new body

this isn't that serious of a topic but I just wanted to see what some people thought. My question was if there was a deeper reason that Lanfear's soul was put into a body like Cyndanes after her "death." In my opinion, it was a message of a sort. Not only is Cyndane shorter and not quite as pretty as Lanfear was, but do you think she was put into this shorter body as a message that she isn't as "tough" or big stuff as she thought she was? I almost take it like the Dark One put her in this body as more than just some body to put her soul in. And of course, she was immediately put in a mind trap by Moridin as further punishment. Sorry I know this is kind of a stupid question I just began thinking about it as I read through the series and wanted to see what people though

Prolly to add more to the punishment and humiliate her.

ACOS: 25, Mindtrap, 417-418] The speaker was a tall, broad-shouldered young man in black boots and breeches, and a flowing white shirt unlaced at the top, who watched her with startlingly blue eyes ..." He has a deep voice. He has a strong chin, else he'd be worthy of Graendal's collection. He looks to be just a little older than Rand, "Not many years past twenty." A description of Moridin.

She is a short young woman with long silver hair, vivid blue eyes and an impressive bosom. She holds herself very straight striving for height. (TPoD,Ch12) She has a low, breathy voice. (WH,Ch13) A description of Cyndane.

So I do think it was a punushment. Her new body is a reminder that she was once grand and great and now is short, with a big bosom. Like a doll in my mind. Moridin also has her trapped in the cour´souvra so basically he owns her body and mind. He has prettyface looks and it wouldn´t surprise me if he raped her... or maybe that´s beneath him. Maybe SH then... I think I remember a paragraph hinting at it.

The physical look of her body is just means for the DO to punish her is all, even her name is a punishment/warning not to mess up again. I dk how she does in ToM. Maybe something happens there...

Well there is this quote from RJ about the Dark One's selective process...

After the soul is secured, then a suitable body must be acquired and stripped of the (former) owner's memory and soul to make way for the favored one. By the way, what constitutes a suitable body from the Dark One's perspective is not that of the recipient. Certainly Aginor would never have chosen to be reincarnated in his, shall we say, less than imposing body, nor would the womanizing Balthamel have chosen to be reincarnated as a beautiful woman. It was only chance that Moridin ended up in a body that is young, fairly good looking and physically imposing. Those things simply don't matter to the Dark One. But the body has to be basically healthy and sound, and neither too young nor too old. After all, the Dark One wants his servants to be effective, and a body that meets those basic requirements is more desirable than one that doesn't. Since there is no stockpile of such bodies, the only way for someone to die and immediately be reincarnated would be a matter of pure chance. That is, the death occurred when a suitable body was on hand for some other reason.

Which doesn't sound like he was being overly specific in his choices. On the other hand Osan'gar at one points appreciates the irony of Aran'gar's body... :)

Osan'gar does indeed see this irony

She swayed, massaging her throat, and Osan'gar moved to help her, but she threatened him with a glare and a fist before he touched her. He backed away with raised hands. That was one enmity he did not heed. But it was a fine body, and a fine joke. He had always prided himself on his sense of humor, but this was rich.

As does Demandred later

Bodies for transmigration supposedly were chosen by what was available, yet Osan'gar and Aran'gar were proof of the Great Lord's cruel sense of humor.

Demandred was sure that Cyndane was Lanfear transmigrated from what he thought would be in keeping with the GLOD's ironic selections, until someone said that her strength in the OP was lower.
