OK So I've got a friend who is equal parts genius, chop and he basically finds things that interest him and then goes to town on them.

 

So last year he got interested in languages, specifically their phonics and was making catalogues of different sounds and using complicated words like diphthong, this then moved into an obsession with learning languages, particularly Japanese (though he's now branched into both Italian and Latin now) with stuff like this site fueling that I think

now he has gotten ho;d of an idea I heard about a few years back, the big word for it is polyphasic sleeping. Basically what you do it you restrict your sleeping to short nap times every few hours instead of a big continuous chunk like normal people.

 

This involves basically sleep depriving yourself while your body accept the sleep cycle so that you almost instantly fall asleep when you get to nap time and wake up however long afterwards  The point is for the body to skip straight into REM sleep so that you get the sleep that stops you feeling mentally tired, but then you miss out on the physical regeneration (shallow) sleep

So while he was staying up all night I asked him to do something constructive, I gave him a list of all the newboy's names and he already knows mildly sneakity ways to get the pictures on pupils' profiles so it's a simple matter of putting the picture and name into the SRS program.

 

and then what I'm doing is a picture will pop up  and I'll say the name if it pops into my head and score myself on how right the name was, if I run a blank then I fail and the card gets scheduled again in a little while
