What do you like/dislike?

I am so bored today, I'm making up stuff to start convos on.

 

Just in the year since I've been playing mafia, the game has changed a lot on DM. We went through the phase where there was always a godfather (wasn't the point of that role to catch people unaware?) and the phase of major recruiting going on (I think I may have led that one!) to creating non-traditional games in mass quantity (guilty there, too.)

 

What do you like and what do you not like about the current way mafia is played on DM? I ask these things because I like to know what my players are going to want when I write games (and because I'm bored...)

 

 

 

I like the unexpectedness of new roles and new combinations of roles. Having said that, I will say that it takes a lot to balance new roles sometimes. You don't know how they are going to end up being used ahead of time.

 

I very much dislike the idea of putting someone in the position of betraying their teammates. I've had to do that in a game and I felt horrible afterward. I can't talk about an ongoing game or I would have more to add to this. Let's just say that once you're on a team, you should get to stay on that team.

 

I like Standard games. :)

 

I dislike flavor (theme) being used as a way to confirm your innocence. Those who don't know the source material (often me *grin*) are at a distinct disadvantage.

 

I'm sure I'll have more to add as time goes on.

I LOVE themed games when I know the source material. It really helps me put myself into the game being able to say "I am XXXXX". Dislikes...well, as far as setups go, I haven't found any that I would say I disliked except for the "no coroner report" games. To me, those are more of random shooting than actual scum hunting. even just knowing alignment without role works for me.

I almost never know the source material. I wonder what that's like to get into a character? lol

 

*nods* No coroner report games are only fun for the mod.
