Tuon's favorite damane (possible spoilers)

Hi All. Love the Forums. This is my first post.

 

I was re-reading Winter's Heart, and something piqued my interest (again) in Chapter 14, "What a Veil Hides." Tuon is reviewing her sul'dam and damane, and she lingers on one in particular, Mylen, as she reflects on her foolish wish to be sul'dam.

 

"The pale little damane had been half dead with shock and fear, refusing to eat or drink, when Tuon bought her on the docks at Shon Kifar....Mylen was a perfect damane. It was true, no one would believe now that once she had called herself Aes Sedai."

 

When I first read this, I thought, "Mylen is Moiraine," and although we all are sure that Moiraine is in the Tower of Ghenjei, I thought this same thing when I re-read it. So, if Mylen is not Moiraine, who is she? And does it matter?
