Wait, Why am I Here? (Adv Elemental Manipulation)

Rion shivered lightly and clasped his hands behind his back to try and still the small shake to them. Light he hated teacher classes, and this would be his first as an Ashaman. He was always partly nervous and not a small bit afraid. He stood in a small open area in his pressed uniform and both Dragon and Sword pinned to his collar.

He rather would have been with Jocelyn than anything else at the moment. It had only been a few days since he had asked her to move out of Dashiva's house with him and he wanted to spend as much time as he could with her working on their future home. But here he was waiting for a class of Dedicated with slight tremors in his hands.

You even fear your students? Yes. At least you are honest. Light you are a singularly pathetic boy to fear everything but that chit of yours.

OOC: THANKS! Yay for Ged´s first advanced class! This will most likely be a private lesson then as Noy´s...well, ya know...

IC: Even now, some days after being raised the sight of the silver sword pin, always having to stay bright and shiny, marking him as one of the Dedicated. One that had advanced in the ranks of the Black Tower. One that had possibly got a bit further to mastering the taint breeding inside him, or a bit further to be consumed by it entirely. Who knew that? Who couldknow after all when not even Ged himself had a faintest idea how long he would still last. Or if it wasn´t too late already, if he shouldn´t have drawn the line and ended this never-ending ordeal long since, for the sake of all of them, himself included.

But no. He wouldn´t go the easy way. Wouldn´t allow himself to give up just like that. No matter what would come, the indea about trying everything he had and if he died attempting to give everything during his training in the Black Tower, the idea of somehow trying and repent his sins by finding a way to do at least some good with Saidin, tainted or not, had manifested inside him too strongly to just be left behind like a worn-out coat.

No, he wasn´t here to give in to his own vanity, but to learn. To do his best to achieve his aim somehow and now standing outside in the middle of the training ground, facing what appeared to him as a kind of private lesson held by no one less than Rion. The very person that had helped him enter the Black Tower those days Ged only remembered faintly as he had been struggling against the consuming fever raging inside him after he had channelled for the first time. After...no, he couldn´t bear letting his mind drift off to getting into that again. Not now.

Taking a formal bow at the former Dedicated who also had been raised only recently, Ged still could feel some kind of awkwardness looming over them and something told him that this wasn´t just because of the lesson they were just aboout to start. No, there was something else in the bush. Yet he couldn´t let himself get further into pondering about this either. This was business he had to attend, something to get over and done with and he did intend to waste as little time as possible on lingering here.

"Dedicated Ged Maevere reporting to serve", he announced rather formally, though it somehow felt odd to speak to Rion who he had told that much about himself before in that way. Well, different times, different ways, wasn´t it? And after all, he was here to learn...

"Dedicated Ged Maevere reporting to serve."

Rion started out of his idle imaginings as Ged walked up to him and bowed formally. It felt akward even after the past few weeks of being an Ashaman to be treated with the formality and respect that the rank belied, considering there were many who still treated him with contempt for who he was.

Rion nodded once in greeting and smiled brightly. "Hello Ged. How are you today?" Rion smiled once again and nodded to the answer before pausing, unsure of himself as to how to start. This would be his first one on one class and he was pretty sure it was going to be harder than teaching a larger group where you could stretch things out for longer periods and smaller tasks took longer than they should. It helped the teacher to only have to do smaller amounts and ended the class earlier.

"Well let's begin then. Contrary to popular beleif here the power is not only used to kill and destroy. If you simply look for them the uses, even if mundane, are endless." To prove the point Rion dipped into saidin and wove threads of air to raise the earth behind him and make him a seat.

"And thought is what drive the world around us, so we will begin this class by using the strongest muscle we men have, the mind. So sit, and tell me what you think you could use the power to do other then kill." Rion stretched his shoulders and let saidin slip from his grasp, waiting for Ged to begin. This would be his favorite class to teach, manipulating the power for reasons other than destruction.

~Ged~

On the question how he was doing, Ged couldn´t help but a weak smile appear on his face for despite all the formality and drill every member of the Black Tower was prone to, there was still something that went beyond mere teacher/trainee contact, something you might even call friendship in some cases. Telling Rion that he was good even though he wisely kept the fact to himself that he was still a bit wobbly on teh legs after his fall and rather unconventional way of entering the house of Dovan Panrael, the men who had saved his life and had become his mentee now. That was something not even Rion needed to know of for now, neither of the fact that Ged already felt like having become a member of the Panrael family, even though he had already left their house again.

Well, in any way, Ged thought himself fortunate to have Rion as a teacher for now, preferring his tutelage instead of the harsh drill of other Asha´man who seemed to only see one reason in him being here: turning him into a weapon that would kill and destroy in the name of the Dragon and the Light.

So he actually let out a sigh of relief when Rion pointed out that he wouldn´t teach him how to use the One Power to cause chaos and destruction in this lesson, but would show him how to use it for good things, like the seat of earth he saw him make for himself in the blink of an eye.

On his teacher asking him what he could think of as good things or at least things that wouldn´t do any harm to use Saidin for, a thought struck him immediatedly, the first thing popping into his mind whenever he was thinking of the One Power connected to his dream of being able to do something good with it, yet Ged was more than unsure whether to voice this thought aloud or if it wouldn´t be wiser to keep quiet about that and mention rather less important ways of using the One Power for a good purpose.

His pondering about that very question seemed to be all too apparent on his face though, Ged thought when he noticed Rion observing him irribly, an eyebrow raised in silent questioning. Ged sighed. Well, it was too late for that anyway, what had been done had been done and he´d face whatever reaction he might get on what he was about to tell the Asha´man now.

"Healing", Ged said bluntly, "Even though I´m not sure if this will be in this lesson, I guess Healing is the most important good thing you can do with the One Power, maybe even the only one." Ged hesitated, looking the other man in the eye, feeling like now he had begun to speak there was no turning back. "And I guess that´s true. I´ve...I´ve done it myself already with....with a new recruit...and....and he´d have died if I hadn´t Healed him, he wouldn´t even have survived the journey and ....and it felt like the best thing you can do with the One Power...It really does, no matter what...", Ged cut off here, noticing that he was beginning to ramble and sound incoherent. He just hoped Rion would get his point, but if he didn´t, Ged didn´t actually care much about his punishment for using such a complex weave on somebody else. He only knew that much: It had definitely been worth it.

OOC: I´m referring to the "Involuntary Recruitment" thread here, btw. in which Ged has Healed Elessar

Rion nodded slowly as he listened to Ged, his words striking a familiar cord inside of him. It looked like Ged felt passionately by the subject and Rion judged that he would join the healers when he became an Ashaman. Better off than he was, he still had no idea where he should fit in. The blood and death of the infirmary made him sick and he was terrified of anything that resembled violence to settle well into the teachers and fighters of the Black Tower.

"That is good, you can see the one aspect of Saidin that can only be done for good. To heal what could not be possible to heal and save what we are taught so readily to take, a life." Rion stood and backed off to leave some room between him and Ged before slipping back into the void and filling himself with Saidin.

"Since you have already tried healing, though perhaps the next time unless the recruit is dying refrain from doing so." Rion smiled lightly to take any malice his words may convey. You have a point though, it has a possiblity of killing a person when done wrong. Ha now wouldn't that be a wonderful way to die, killed by Healing.

"Healing requires Water, Spirit and air in it's most basic form. And since we've started by having you set the pace of the class I want you to find one way to use each of those for a use for a helpful purpose."
