Titanic 3D and Avatar 3D re-release in 2012.  Say it ain't so!

James Cameron will be making buttloads of money...like he needs more.

James Cameron tells USA Today that he's targeting a Spring 2012 release date, the 100th anniversary of the ship's sailing, for a 3D re-release of "Titanic".

The director was also asked about Avatar's 3D home release and in the process revealed a re-release might be in the works. "We're not officially announcing it [3D Blu-ray] right now but I'm hoping for fall. The wildcard is that we might be re-releasing the movie this fall. It's kind of gotten stomped out (in theaters) because of Alice in Wonderland" says Cameon.

He adds that "The word we're getting back from exhibitors is we probably left a couple of hundred million dollars on the table as a result. The question is the appetite still going to be there after the summer glut of movies. We're going to assess that. We're talking about maybe adding in additional footage and doing something creative."

A few hours after this article was published, The Hollywood Reporter added to the report saying that Cameron and Fox are in discussions about re-releasing "Avatar," primarily in 3D theaters, in late summer.

Cameron has 40 minutes of additional material which didn't make the theatrical cut, with 10-12 minutes of extra scenes already cut which could quickly be put through postproduction and be ready for a theatrical reissue.

Shark Horror Movie.  Can it beat Megashark vs. Giant Octopus?  I don't think so.

David R. Ellis ("The Final Destination") is tipped to direct the horror feature "Shark Night 3D" says Deadline New York.

Jesse Studenberg and Will Hayes' script is being kept under wraps but the $28 million creature feature hopes to become "Jaws for a new generation".

Walt Conti, who created the animatronic creatures in "Snakes on a Plane" and "Deep Blue Sea", will handle the animatronic sharks in this film.

Mike Fleiss, Chris Briggs and Lynette Howell will produce and shooting kicks off this summer in Louisiana for a release in 2012.

Clash of the Titans, Journey to the Center of the Earth sequels planned.

Warner Bros. Pictures is moving forward with sequels to two recent remakes - this year's "Clash of the Titans" and 2008's "Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D" reports Deadline New York.

The 'Titans' follow-up is aiming for a Spring 2012 release and Sam Worthington is expected to reprise the role of Perseus. However director Louis Leterrier will not return, neither will the writers. Greg Berlanti will pen the story with a new screenwriter to be hired shortly to expand upon it. The aim is to get the film into production so Worthington can get to work on it before he shoots the "Avatar" sequel.

'Earth' is being lined up for a Fall 2011 release but as a result director Eric Brevig wouldn't be available to direct due to his commitments to "Yogi Bear 3D". However star Brendan Fraser is resisting suggestions of potential replacements like Brad Peyton. As a result the film may be refashioned around the son character (Josh Hutcherson).

Yogi Bear 3D?  Really?
