Was she okay?  She was bloody furious!  Not only would she have to deal with that prick Sandre for as long as she was a trainee, but a parting glance burned the memory of Elyan following after Sandre.  That hurt far more than she wanted it to, only slightly tempered by Sandre’s bloody nose.  Mind you, the blood that covered her knuckles was really gross.

 

“Is there anywhere I could wash up?” she asked, avoiding the boys’ question.  Despite her current displeasure with the male gender as a whole, the twins were nice enough boys.  Plus they’d taken her side, more or less—well, at least that was how she saw it.  They pointed her to a basin on a sort of bureau in the corner of the room, a room she would be forced to share with Sandre.  Damn him!

 

Sticking her hand in the water, it felt soothing on her aching knuckles.  The further she got from the fight, the more Addison realised how much those punches had hurt her hand.  A tiny sliver of doubt wedged itself in her brain, warning her that if punching hurt then getting walloped by wooden sticks certainly would; she ignored it.  “Um... does this look broken to you?”  Her knuckles seemed to have swelled into one giant super-knuckle and it poking it brought tears to her eyes.

 

Bloody hell, the emotional ups and downs of the day were beginning to take their toll.  Light, don’t let her cry!
