Favourite and most hated characters

Anyway, this all just popped into my head as I read a little of the back-and forth re: a few specific characters.  I think that some of those arguments involve a lot of talking past one another that could easily devolve into "Egwene is stupid!" - "No, you're stupid!" - "Well, your mom is stupid!" kinds of exchanges."

*signs*

Although...looking at those exchanges is great fun.

I occasionally need to frickin' flame some when getting owned in CS:S as well.

*illuminati got shot*

Me: BROWN SUX

*illuminati...owned again*

Me: BROWN SUX!!!!!

Who needs TV when you can get that stuff for free? In cool settings of your choice?

:D

PS: I wonder when my mad Icarus-flight ends....

Rand was willing to let the world burn to save a woman he hated. Perrin was willing to let it burn to save a woman he loved. Perrin seems slightly more rational, based on that. Also, Perrin found a solution to his problem, as he saved Faile. Rand did not find a solution. If Moiraine hadn't sacrificed herslef, he would have died, or been captured by Lanfear. Yet you call Perrin a monster? Why not give Rand his share of the blame? Also, Faile is just about all he has left.

Totally agree, Perrin's reaction is understandable, and while at first glance it can seem over the top, I wager that many people if placed in that situation under those pressures would react in a similar way.  Ta'veren does not stop him from being subject to human emotions!

Also, it is obvious that many of the characters have slightly twisted views on the male/female relationship.  IMO that is one of the brilliant things about RJ's writing.  In this society, woman are the only ones who can safely wield the True Source.  Only ones who can become Aes Sedai, most respected/feared organisation in Randland.  That can't help but have a flow-on effect right throughout society, even in remote Emond's Field.

Hmm, there really are no characters I dislike. ALL of them annoy me at some point or another. Here's a list:-

Rand - Ugh, probably the character who annoys me the most in the series. Not that I don't like him, just ugh, his whole litany of how he dislikes women dying for him... It's awful.

Mat - Up until the Finn world, Mat I considered cannon fodder and absolutely hated. He's really grown up since and now is awesome.

Perrin - Perrin has many faults. I like that about him, I really do. Even his blind devotion to Faile. Perrin wins me 10 times out of 10 with some of the most moving scenes in the entire series. The entire Two Rivers campaign, Dumai's Wells, standing up to Rand, saving Faile from the dream trap, hopper dying, cutting off the shaido's hands, the big battle with the Shaido, the Alliandre scene... I love him.

Nynaeve - My absolute fav female lead. Not only has she done a LOT, but she's hilarious, and has some of the most romantic scenes of them. (Nynaeve mashiara has GOT to be the sweetest line ever).

Egwene - Meh for the most part, but her saving grace was sometime after being raised as Amrylin. I really sympathize with her lonely position. Little more than a child, trying to save an entire world... Man.

Min, Elayne, Aviendha - Of the three, I like Aviendha the most, Min the least. Elayne is alright, but the whole spear sister ritual, and all the mopeyness with her pregnancy, ugh.

Moiraine and Lan - I tend to stick them together, but I like them both. Lan is just... awesome, and Moiraine is very very cool.

Faile - Talk about fiery. I like her, if only for the fact that she's one of the few good guys who doesn't like Rand very much and completely loyal to Perrin.

Tuon - Hahaha, poor Mat. She's gonna hold those pink ribbons over his head for the rest of his life. Not to mention that she could teach an Aes Sedai lessons in cool.

Gawyn - I really like him. Sure, he's taken unpopular stances throughout most of the series, but I always found it weird that all those rumours of Morgase dying at Rand's hands changed nothing at all in most people's perspectives.

Galad - He's alright. Nothing good to say, nothing bad to say.

Semirhage - I love her. Need I say more? She makes an awesome Forsaken.

Mh....

Forsaken....

Asmo'. My number one. The cool loser of the lot that gets dragged into the Light. Cool character. Sadly wasted opportunity....oh well

Lanfear....On one level with Asmodeus/Asmodean at least. At the very least. She might tip the scale there in her favor since she is a woman, though. xD

Ishamael...not so much anymore since Moridin-ization. His philosophy at least is cool. And his madness as well. And the fact that he doesn't care about the latter.

Semirhage. I want her enslaved, broken. C'mon.

Quite cool, else. Although I want her to pay. By becoming a slave. Or to be proven wrong. With the latter, I want to see what she then does.

Demandred. He's so arrogant and stupid, it's not funny anymore. Or well, it is, come to think of it.

Sammael. Similar with Demandred. He got what he deserved. Seemed to be especially "wasteful" with "human material", the bastard.

Moghedien. She ends up somewhere farther above, really. Her cowardice is fun and over the top.

Mesaana. Bitch. I like her, somehow, though.

Balthamel a.k.a. Aran'gar. Bitch, lecher, sick. He/she/it is cool, though. Somewhere farther above.

Aginor a.k.a. Osan'gar. Another coward, another bundle of fun. Before his coming-out(meaning before it was clear that he's Agi), I liked him somewhat, though. Reminded me of myself.

I am quite mad myself. Or then again, it's a Moridin-esque madness. Maybe. :D

Graendal. Bitch. Kill that lecher bitch. Her type of slavery makes me sick, in a twisted way. Seanchan got some cause, at least.

Or else, humiliate her, enslave her.

Be'lal. Seemed to be the cooler sort of "arrogant" misters Sammael and Demandred have or did, at least from the little that was seen when he was on stage.

Another waste, when it comes down to it.

Well...what to conclude....

Somehow, most of the Forsaken are just arrogant clowns and bitches. Really.

Lanfear rules, though. Such a queen bitch I'd like to serve.

Asmo' rules as well, the loser. I like to call me a loser meself. xD

After that, comes the rest.

TY y'all for ye time. xD

EDIT: Oh me gawd, I forgot Mr Handsome Forsaken Bastard Rahvin.

He's basically like Graendal. Only not gay. And died, the lecher male bitch.

:D

I agree with that much.  Asmodean was awesome just because he was Asmodean.  He got screwed by Rand and Lanfear, but he was determined to hold on no matter what.  Plus his reaction to Mat's battle knowledge was awesome.

Here are my takes on some of the characters (only up to Crossroads of Twilight):

Rand: I like him, but find his attitude immensely annyoing at times! I really hope that Cadsuane succeeds in making him human again.

Aviendha: Absolutely love her, she is one of my favourite characters.

Moraine: Another of my favourites, love how she is more open minded than the other Aes Sedai, and knows when to back down & accept changes.

Egwene: I didn't like her to start with, but with her becoming Amrylin, really feel sorry for her as she is in a very lonely position for someone so young.

Faile: Didn't like her at all to start with, especially during the manipulation of Loial, but I really hope that after her time with the Shaido, she grows up a bit.

Perrin: I'm not a big fan of Perrin, he is too narrow minded for my personal liking

Mat: Love him. My favourite scene with him is during the battle with the Shaido where he keeps trying to get away, but can't abandon the other soldiers in riding straight into a trap

Just my humble opinion for what it's worth  :)

Mh.......*muse muse*

Has anyone ever brought up Doesine as a cool Aes Sedai character? Name was Doesine, wasn't it? The pretty, boyish girl?

Kind of like her. "Boyish" seems to equal "head with a smaller angle upwards", if you know what I mean. Given the quite "polar" nature of the series. Misters and Misses Forsaken left aside, who seem to be as evil and full of themselves as any lobby of SUV-supporters, male and female. *sniggers*

She also seems quite...disobedient towards Miss Elaida whose iron-fisted dictatorship reign grip on the bottle doesn't seem to intimidate her enough to at least tolerate Miss Egwene.

I smell opportunity for her. Much opportunity.

Don't let her die, Mr Anderson. Sanderson, I mean. Of course. *puts sunglasses away*

I could even see her as Amyrlin. When Egwene decides that the job sucks and throws herself at Rand again because Gawyn is a stupid nut-job. ^^ *wheezes*

this is easy... Matt is clearly the coolest character in all the books... (tGH excluded) anyway yea he is the best, and Elayne is just a bitch. rand should have disposed of here when she took his flag down from Andor. Really what good does she do? she sits around and gets pregnant. what a waste, she is completely and totally useless!

where as Matt on the other hand... how can you have a better 'ability' than LUCK? clearly he is also just the best overall, seeing as he is also the only one who doesn't go searching for ways to gain power but really runs from the idea of 'becoming' nobility. (which is why the end of KoD is one of the funniest parts of the series.
