the deals were bigger when TV and movies were limited. now you can see anything youw ant whenever youw ant to pretty much. nothing to get excited about.

But then, I was never wowed much by special effects anyway; the part of my mind that normally might be would usually just say "Well duh, that's what it's supposed to look like"

i never thought of them as special effects. even when they were quite bad, i just accepted them.

 

big movies were like events. a social phenomenon. na? non? no clue.

 

it wasn't like you could just get the DVD and see them again. it could take years for them to ever be on TV, and if they ever were.... really crappy little screens, edited all to hell, cut to shreds with commercials. and once a year at best.

 

plus these were movies kids would be set loose in - the parents would just leave. it was an unaccustomed freedom. took as much advantage of it as possible.

children are in the most danger from their immediate family and friends, anyway. but fear is good for the economy.

i'm from brooklyn, so i'm not sure i qualify as a native speaker. but yes, barring sign language, she would have had no choice.

But, she still says that I shouldn't be sitting on my butt on "that stupid internet" for so long of a time. Don't I just hate it when she's right? Not really.

Ever notice that it's the women on each side of politics that manage to be the most vicious? Maureen Dowd is a pretty horrible person sometimes too.

there's a lot of people in this country. by definition, half of them have IQs under 100. by logic, half of the ones above the 100 are idiots of another sort.

 

and they all have a forum.

i learned to ignore the vile stupidity of the masses early on. you really just have to, until they drag you onto the trains.

I mean, the guys can be pretty unpleasant too (O'Reilly, Olbermann), but the women on both sides are the worst.

the only scars i still have are from breaking up a fight between males, from which i learned to not break up fights by putting ahand between fighting dogs.
