Why didn't the DO escape during the war of power?

Having read the BWB, it became apparent that the Bore was "open" for nearly a century before LTT and His Companions sealed it. As I read the story, I remember wondering why the DO didn't escape after all this time.

Things become more interesting when the BWB claims that at attempt from the Dreadlords to "free" the DO was stopped by LTT's forces. My question is, 1) what held the DO back from breaking out completely? 2) What did the Dreadlords plan on doing to break him out?

The implications of these questions seem endless. At TG, will the DO even break out, without Rand and Co intervening? Could they just fight the LB with the Bore wide open and the DO helpless as a babe? Could the Bore just be a hole into the AREA where the DO's prison is located, not the prison itself?

Also, i was wondering what Moridin and co plan on doing to completely free their Master.

The Bore began growing as soon as it was drilled and continued to grow until it was sealed up. I think this is a testament to the fact that He was getting himself free, it just took time. This may have been how the Dreadlords had planned to help him by "chipping away" at the Prison from our side to speed up his release.

Actually one thing I have always thought was that because the Seals were only made of Saidin, they were imperfect and allowed the DO some "wiggle-room". However infinitesimally small this gap in the Seals was, it was enough for the DO to continue enlarging the Bore, though the speed at which he could do this would have been greatly impeded. Which is why it took Him 3000+ years to finally begin breaking the seals, as they were stretched thin over the enlarged Bore. Or maybe the seals did not stretch, and only blocked the an area the size of the original Bore. Which would have allowed Him to bypass the Seals like a faucet that leaks due to eroded seals; still greatly impeded, but now some of His power was allowed to trickle through.

One last thing, I think that the Prison is a matter of perspective. Obviously the Creator and the DO exist in a plane/state/universe/ether that is outside of our own universe. There is nothing to say that the DO was imprisoned in this other plane only that he was blocked away from the Pattern during the moment of Creation. It could just be that the Creator actually locked us away during the Creation and shielded the Pattern from the DO in some way. The Bore might not have been us Boring into the Prison and letting the DO out, but actually us Boring out of the Pattern and letting the DO in.

Just thought I'd throw that out there since from one of the perspectives the DO seems to be completely incapacitated in His Prison, while the other lends the DO more freedom and suggests that his power is more on par with the Creator's.
