Mirandha Bayana

ShakespearesLady@comcast.net

White Tower

Description: Mirandha stands at a good 5’6” which is average for the women of her House. As an avid rider and archer she is fairly fit and in good shape. Her cheeks are often rosy and flushed after a day spent in the outdoors. Dark green eyes and brown hair run in her family, and she has inherited both. She is the spitting image of her mother even though she has inherited her father’s long nose. Even though she is an active young woman, Mirandha chooses to keep her hair long (to her mid back) as it is the one thing she truly likes about her physical body.

Origin: Andor- on the outskirts of the city.

Age: 19

Character History: The Bayana house has tried for the Lion Throne in the past two successions, and has been defeated both times. As a result, the House has become a bit bitter towards whoever is sitting on the throne at the time. Because of this, Mirandha has grown up in an environment where it is never known who will be poisoned or exiled next. Her parents instilled the idea that no one is to be trusted who is not a member of the House Bayana. Servants are never to be trusted and one must guard their tongue around them constantly. Such distrust and secrecy caused Mirandha to grow up in a tense atmosphere causing her to become a very closed off and secretive young woman.

Despite the Bayana’s distrust of other Houses and people in general, they were a close family. Their estate was called Idlewind which boasted gardens even more beautiful than those at the royal palace. Outside the walls of their estate lush forests filled with game and fowl drew hunters from all over the region. Lord Wallum Bayana, Mirandha’s grandfather, led regular hunting parties each season. This was Mirandha’s favorite time of year. Her grandfather was always smiling, and good food always graced their supper table.

However, it is known that good things never last. Mirandha’s brother, Xaviar, began showing signs of some sort of mental imbalance around the time of his 23rd year. Mirandha, a scared 19 year old girl, feared for her brother. No one knew what was afflicting him. He would be fine one moment, but completely mad the next. Strange events kept occurring at the oddest times. The servants started to whisper. Eventually rumors began to spread all the way to Caemlyn. What was happening to Xaviar?

Under the cover of darkness, and in disguise, Mirandha left with Xaviara and three of their servants, under the orders of Lord Wallum, left for Caemlyn to seek treatment from a famed Wise Woman known for her miraculous cures. Unfortunately, there was nothing she could do for the boy. Dejected and despondent, Mirandha roamed the city alone that afternoon. Choosing to stop and eat at The Wayward Wanderer, she encountered four Aes Sedai traveling together. She recognized them by the shawls looped around their elbows. Two Blues, a Gray, and a Red sat at a large table talking softly. One of the Sisters, the Red, glanced up and studied Mirandha as she walked into the dining room. As she ate her meal Mirandha contemplated asking the Aes Sedai for help, but decided against it in the end.

She returned to the Inn she and Xaviar were staying at in the early evening. As she opened the door her eyes widened at the site of their belongings strewn about the room, drawers opened and rifled through, and Xaviar standing in the middle of the room looking completely insane. Before Mirandha could open her mouth to ask what was wrong or to scream-she wasn’t sure which- Xaviar began to assault her. First he started to pummel her with his fists. And then it seemed as if invisible punches were raining down on her. Xaviar screamed in a wordless rage. Mirandha desperately tried to scramble out the door, but her eyes were swollen shut so she wound up backing herself into a corner. The invisible punches turned to invisible needles pricking her endlessly. The pain was too much for her to handle and consciousness was slowly slipping away. When she would come to later, Mirandha would recall the last thing she saw was the door to their room swing open and a pair of red slippers gliding t

hrough it.

Apparently the Red Sister, Talena Sedai, sensed the potential in Mirandha, and decided to follow the girl back to her Inn. It was fortunate that she did otherwise Mirandha would have died at the hands of her brother that evening. Talena Sedai quickly wove a shield to block Xaviar from the One Power. In his madness, and desperation, Xaviar grabbed his dagger and shoved it through his heart.

Traumatized, but grateful to be alive, Mirandha allowed herself to be taken to the White Tower for testing.
