The return to the yard

Liitha looked towards the city, she would reach it juring the afternoon this day, home, she had been away for a year.

The mare tossed her head unpatiently and Liitha put her into a walk towards Tar Valon.

It where late afternoon when she rode over the bridge into the city, it was weird to be back in a way, and it both felt familiar like she had barely been away, but at the same time like she had been away a lot longer than a year.

She rode slowly through the town looking at everything with new eyes, more experinced eyes. She had changed bout outward and inward while away, though the time had been hard she had actualy gained a litle weigth, not much but enough to make her look more her age, and her hair was long now.

Finaly she reached the yard and nodded to the guards in the gates before continuing on to the stable. She let a stable boy lead the mare away, her companion througout the journey, and went to her room. She put her things down and poured water in the wash stand, it was good to get the travel dust out of her. She donned dark brown leather pants and a loose white shirt.

After combing her hair she looked around, she was home, but she had a thing to do before she could rest. Leaving her room behind she went out into the yard searching for her father, she needed to talk with him.

Corwin was busy training his student when he saw someone walking around the Yard. At first he thought it was a ghost. His daughter had been gone for a long time, and he had not talked to her for even longer.

It wasn't that he didn't have a bad relationship with his daughter it was just...come to think of it, Corwin didn't have much of a relationship with her at all, good or bad. Turning ot his trainee Corwin went off to find where she had went. She seemed to be wandering around aimlessly.

When he got close enough he called out, "You look for somethin?"

"You look for somethin?" The voice came from behind her but she recognised it well enough, and turned with a smile. "Father..long time no see" she gave the man a hug. "Yes i was looking for you" she smiled.

It felt so strange to be back, "I was wondering how you where doing and if you would share an evening meal with me. I wanted to talk to you about the past, and catch up a bit."

She hoped he would know a good inn, she was sure the situation couldnt have changed too much in the year, it was just she still felt sort of strange beeing back in the city.

Corwin didn't know why she wanted to bring up old skeletons, but if that's what his daughter wanted.... "I do know of a place. I'll make sure we have a private dinning room. Just meet me at my home when evening comes."

With that Corwin gave his daughter a last hug and went to an inn to make the arangments. It wouldn't exactly be cheep, but it shouldn't be too expensive either. After a few minutes of bartering, Corwin left to find another Inn. It took 4 tries, but he found one. He had money, but didn't need to spend it all. He wasn't going to be getting anymore after all. Going home, Corwin took a nap until it was time for the meal.

Liitha went to the stable checking on her mare. The animal had been well taken care of and she spent the next hours walking around Tar Valon gathering her thougths before walking to the grove.

Meeting her father she followed him to an inn where he had fixed a dining room. Liitha ordered fish and white wine before seteling back in the chair.

She wasnt sure where to start, and then ended on just telling it as it was. "The day i earned my herons i closed the chapter of my mother, in the bligth i sougth to close another. I have read much on Malkieri growing up, and during my year in the borderlands i visited the bligth. And though books can tell much it cant tell it all...I cant help thinking on how it once was..." she looked at her father "...will you tell me of you growing up, tell me of the peoples..did you see the lakes and spires? Its a sadened look now swallowed by the bligth but i imagine once it wasnt so.."

she let her voice fall as the food arived and then waited quietly while the door closed again to hear what her father would say, what would he think of what she did and would he be willing to tell her about his childhood.

Corwin looked at his daughter. It was an odd enough question, but not as bad as she could have asked. Thinking back Corwin tried to remember. He had been just a young boy when they had a flee. "It...it was a beautiful land. I was young when it fell, but some of it still sticks out. I have seen it now and it is unfortunate what happened. People would come just to see it's majesty. The thousand lakes were awe-striking. The towers....I have never seen anything to match their beauty. The people matched the city. We were all warriors in our own rights. Women pledged to bare their children to fight the Shadow, and men pledged while a child to fight the child while there was still blood in their body. I was too young to take the oath before it was over run, but you saw people all the time proud to be on the front lines of the shadow. We had a beautiful city, made that much more beautiful by the fact that death and ugliness was all around the outside of the city. It was an enormous contrast....now it's just a match. But it lives on in the hearts of everyone that once lived there."

Corwin didn't know what else to tell here. He was too young when it was attacked to remember much else. Drinking some whiskey, he waited for what his daughter would say.

Liitha ate quietly while listening to her father and put down the fork as he leaned back sipping his whiskey. She nodded thougthfully, "The circle has come at end, growing up not knowing either of my parents, though i knew the place my mother grew up. It was a hole that needed filled, it's been a long road there but i think i am at an end now." she smiled to her father.

"The first night i slept in what seemed the ruins of a small village, i think the view will always follow me, the thougth of what once was. I learned of my mother, learned to know you and learned of Malkieri. There is nothing more to gain from the past i think anymore. I wish i knew where my mothers things went after.." she paused a lil while, "..but they are just things..thank you for this time, i am sorry we slipped apart a litle over the years, but maybe its how it must be with what we are.." she was unsure of what to tell her father.

It had been such a long time since she first walked into his den, she had been a young girl and a trainee back then. Today she was a grown woman and a blademaster, a lot had changed, she had changed.

Corwin looked at his daughter, he didn't know what to say...she was a one night stand biproduct...but he still loved her. "Well I don't know what to say there...this is your life. We all must bring closure to our lives. I've visted the Blight many times trying to bring such closure. But you are right...our lives don't allow for the closest of relationships. You are welcome in my home anytime though. I will never be too busy for you." He didn't know what to say, but he hoped it heled her to know he was there for her....

Once she had been closer to her father, she wondered when they slipped away. A smile crossed her lips upon the memorie of their first meeting. Liitha raised her glass of wine and nodded to him in aproval, "I guess its bether than a knife to ones troath .." she tilted her head with a half grin half smile on her lips.

Corwin choked on his wiskey after his daughter's jest. Their first meeting hadn't been too friendly. Corwin didn't even know he had a daughter, but he had tried to make up for it in some way. "Yes... almost anything is better then that I reckon." He couldn't help but grin at his daughter. She had made him the proudest father in the world.

Liitha put down the empty glass, "Thank you for making time, its been nice talking to you again." She smiled, she owed life to her parents and loved them both even if she had never met her mother in person.

She rose and went over giving him a hug, "I couldnt have had bether parents..."
