All full list of the European nominations can be found here.

- So, it was a good night for Avril Lavigne, as she scooped 2 of the big awards.

- Muse have good reasons to cheer as well, winning 2 awards. I definitely suggest listening to their music - some good quality rock music. Start with Absolution.

- I'm also glad Nelly Furtado's album, Loose, got the recognition it deserves and won the best album award, as it is very enjoyable to listen to. All her current albums differ, and show what a talented singer she is.

- Having got into Symphonic Metal over the last few weeks, it was great to see Within Temptation win an award, even if it wasn't a big ones.

- I have no idea why Amy Winehouse wins anything. If her life wasn't such a mess, I don't think she wouldn't be that popular. She's talentless, so it baffles me when young girls scream her name out when they see her, as I happened to do witness on Wednesday evening at Tottenham Court Road tube station.

So, what do other people think of the winners? And any Europeans who will have a greater knowledge of music across Europe than me (but I am growing to love European music over American music at the moment) or our non-European DMers, feel free to add what you know about any of the categories.

Muse a well deserved winner, glad to see Justice picking up two, though for Video star I would have gone with Bat For Lashes.

That Neverstore got best Swedish act is a joke, I could pick at least 10 better albums just from the top of my head. Had it been up to me I would probably have given the award to Familjen.

And how could Efterklang not get best Danish act???

As for the non-European acts, I think they all suck and should not even have been nominated.

your not missing out on much....the majority of that is the best of the bad bunch which has stopped me listening to radio 1 for the last...5 years? something like that.

and muse come from about 10 miles from where i live :D :D and yes they are good. although i prefer their older stuff

I didn't recognize half of the artists listed, but that's because I live in the states and the majority of our music is complete crap.

Faile, I know what you mean! Even though I live in the UK, I didn't recognise half of the winners! But due to YouTube, I am slowly expanding my knowledge of European Music, and there is some good stuff out there!

Mtv definitely has gone down the hill, I blame The Real World.

If you guys come across some cool European bands, let me know so I can check them out. I need something new to listen to. Lately it's just been Shiny Toy Guns and the East Village Opera Company (not that I'm complaining, both are great bands)- I just need some scenery changes.

Well, a similar thing could be said about Neverstore, the swedish winner. They have a small group of supporters (mostly the same kids who listens to crap like good charlotte and such), while most people have never heard of them, since they are not good or even interesting enough to get any airtime except for local commercial stations.

But I suppose The Ark and Timo Räisänen sells to many albums to feel "exciting" for the jury...
