Halloween Week Scary Story Competition Winner Chosen!!!!

The stories can go however you want them to, as long as the story deals with Mythological creatures, since that is the theme of the week here in the Band. There will be a limit of 750 words max, in order to keep us from getting any epics. If we get numerous entries, there might be a consideration to break it down into subjects, such as, Vampires or Griffins or such. As of this moment, I'm not breaking this into subjects just yet.

Depending on how many submissions I get, I will look over the stories myself and see which I like the best. If I have enough entries, I will cut the beginning submissions down to 3 finalists. The final 3 would then go into a poll for everyone to decide who wrote the best story.

I will except a maximum of 2 submissions per person, unless we break it down into subjects, then it will be one entry per subject per person.

Please PM me with your submissions. Thanks!!

Here is the winning story.

"Eternal Service"

Without making any sound, the gate closed behind him. That was strange, considering that the castle was abandoned many years ago. Before making any

move he looked around. Full moon gave enough light to make out most of the courtyard. There was more grass, now fully grown, fighting to survive between stone-laid pavement. And new addition.. graves. He left

bodies, now he remembered, but someone buried them. Looking up, he saw the same monumental towers and walls, surrounding central keep. Stone chimeras carved

out of stone battlements gazed beyond, outer castle walls. Good sign, no one was expecting him. Moving quickly he ran through empty area, stopping

for a while by the door to check if no one follows him. Then he entered the keep. One of the chimeras looked down, her eyes blinked.

Eerie silence and darkness welcomed him on the main corridor. He took out an egg shaped object from his pocket. A necklace with big blue stone, which

slowly began to shine with blue light. He put it on, took out long silver dagger and ventured deeper into the castle. A couple of heartbeats

later he reached the main hall. Despite past events, the hall was still intact. No bodies. Paintings, cutlery, tables and chairs, mirrors, stands

with ceremonial armors and weapons, tapestry, apart from being covered in dust were still here. Thieves didn't dare to visit this place. So the rumors were

true, no one came back with treasures. No time for looting, he went forward, taking spiral stairs to one of side towers. He remembered, when he ran back this

way before, screaming like crazy, chased by gargoyles, with hot blood on his hands.

The main hall, the scene of tragedy and bloodshed came to life as he disappeared onto the first floor. Dusted mirrors were crystal clear now, holding

dead people inside like in cages. They pressed their white hands against cold glass, the desire of revenge painted on their faces. Up, wick of one of big

black candles lit up, revealing huge dragon fresk. His tail swung with deadly precision. Diamond hard tip of dragon's tail was waiting.

Unaware of what was happening below, he walked further. The blue light produced by the eggstone was enough to lit his way. Round stairs were leading

him higher and higher towards the destination he had dreamt of every day. He reached the midsection of the tower - circle chamber. He went in,

looking for another stairs which should take him onto the top. The only things he found here were stone figures of medusas. Beautiful and scary. As he

was looking on one of them, somewhere from above, he heard a children's song, no.. not a song, wailing getting stronger and stronger.

He covered his ears, he couldn't stand it. The song reached every part of his body, cutting through, piercing like iron. Staggering he moved froward, through

the chamber towards the opposite wall. As he got closer, he found exit onto next level. As he walked on the seventh step, he lost sight of the medusa's chamber.

He couldn't hear snake's hiss.

Leaving the singing room behind was relief but he felt very unsure about what was waiting for him above. Wanting all this pain to end, he quickly ran

forward, making his way to highest place in the tower. He dashed into the top room, filled with dim yellow light. Almost empty chamber again,

black curtains and simple stone sarcophagus in the middle. He took s deep breath and moved closer. Slowly, he pushed the stone plate away, uncovering

the sarcophagus's content. Nothing, empty, not even a single bone! He gasped as he heard someone whispering into his ear.

"Did you think it would be that easy?

He couldn't move, paralyzed by the voice he hoped not to hear again.

"You've returned only to cause more deaths."

Not a single word left his mouth.

"You didn't pay last time, but the castle will take its payment."

He was trembling as memories came back to him, and when he was seconds away from truth, black blade came out of his chest, his blood splattered on the ground. He was stabbed from behind,

the same way he stabbed others, many years ago.

"Like it, Know it?"

The curtains fell, and then moved up a bit, changing shapes, forming shades, distant reflections of those he killed.

Voices fell upon him like waterfall.

"Stab him!"

"Stab him again!"

"Me, let me do it!"

"Stab him, cut him, end him!"

"Child stab him! Make him cry!"

Little weak stabs like bitting ,not very painful but many, were reaching him, again and again. His vision became blurry.

Cold hands held his head. Deep blue woman's eyes were impossible to miss but his sight couldn't leave her mouth and two pairs of long teeth.

"Stab him, stab him thousand times!"

Distant voices, mesmerizing eyes, soft hands.

He fainted.

* * *

"One brew please!"

Bartender passed one big mug to the man sitting alone at the bar. He couldn't take his eyes away from man's grey skin and blue, pumping veins beneath.

"I'll pay with this"

The man tossed him egg-shaped blue stone. Bartender's eyes got bigger as he caught it.

"But my lord, it's worth a fortune! A king's gift!"

The man looked at him for the first time. Pupils of his eyes were red.

"I'm not a king, just a simple servant of the Frozen Queen!"

He took a sip, and looked through the window, where first rays of sun appeared.

Scared, bartender quickly went to the kitchen, wanting to hide precious stone. When he come back, the man had gone.
