WoT Story Convoluted? (Discussion of Writing Style)

I love, Wheel of Time, the intricate storylines and mixing of politics, war, and romance. The entire story screams LOTR but adds a huge new dynamic. And yet, I sometimes wonder, why do people not like this storyline.

And here it is, one person placed it out as this, a convoluted plot. This makes a bit of sense, but really, looking at RJ's writing style from another view. How could this story not attract all fantasy readers?

The complicated, convoluted plotlines are one of the main reasons that I completely enjoy WOT. The second main reason is that I just love the main characters and the tremendous depth of personality that RJ has in the vast majority of his characters. All of them just leap off of the page in 3 dimensional realism!! The biggest complaint that I have with RJ's writing style is the sometimes excruciatingly intricate details of his descriptions of absolutely EVERYTHING in a scene, from dresses on down to wall hangings, and just about anything else that the eye could see! :D :)

That is one thing I noticed RJ picked up from Tolkien, the absoluted need to speak of history and detail. That is why I despised Tom Bombadil, however, I think that the one thing people DO not understand, is that the WoT storyline is an epic. It's not just the tale of the Dragon Reborn, its literally the reenactment of the preparation for Ragnarok (TG).
