DRAGONMOUNT

A WHEEL OF TIME COMMUNITY

I have read through the archives and am wondering if anyone knows if a number of former commentators can still be found on other forums or medium?  I'm specifically thinking of people such as Luckers, Mr Ayers, Suttree, Terez, etc.

Googling hasn't turned up much since Terez posted information she found in Robert Jordan's notes on Reddit back in 2016.

Thanks for any information you can provide!

Totally wish I could help you, however I just signed up a few days ago!
why do you want to find those posters (if I can ask)?

I’m looking back through forums to see what has been discussed and get some good takes. Would you recommend any in particular (I mean, since you’ve been there…)?

Welcome!

I've been reading the series since 1997.  I made a few posts back in the day under a different username, but not many.  I'm rereading the series now for the first time since finishing A Memory of Light.

I'm curious about their thoughts on the information in Robert Jordan's notes, if there is any new information about the notes they have learned since they last posted about them in approx. 2016, and any other good takes they might have.

Almost everyone back then had good things to say.  I do like the specific posters I've called out, but you can find good stuff by reviewing almost any thread.

I've been around since those days and, while I've seen the occasional post from someone, it's pretty rare. I expect the main reason is that the series ended and most of the analysis/prediction discussion is more or lest finished at this point.

There was a system purge/rebuild or something around 2009 that nuked a lot of old accounts, too, but that was before those you mentioned above. My first account (under the same name) was lost then.

If you really want to go spelunking, check out the old newsgroup rec.arts.written.sf.robert-jordan. You should be able to find the archives on Google Groups. That's where the old WoT FAQ came from.

Thanks for any information space waves can provide!

If Google hasn’t helped, you could try checking dedicated fan forums, social media groups, or even Discord communities focused on the series - people there often know where longtime fans have moved.

I don't know any of the others but Terez is active on Reddit and Discord. She seems to focus on DBZ and other franchises these days, but did respond when I PM'd her a WoT-related question last year. Her Discord name is simply 'terez' and she's on the Dragonmount Discord and a couple other WoT discords. She also moderates r/dbz and other DBZ subs.

I swear I'm not a stalker; I tracked her down to ask permission to add a picture that had her name on it to the Fandom wiki. Well... I say "tracked her down" but the reality is that a couple days after I saw that picture I happened to come across her comments in a Sanderson AMA while verifying something Sanderson said and realized from her username that she was clearly the same person.

Heh, how many archived threads involving Terez did you actually read through?

More delving will reveal the reality.

I'll never belittle the work she put in in regards to research and documentation.

The problem was she would use that work as an excuse to be an arrogant, condescending bully.

Mods looked the other way because of that work or she kissed the asses of the remaining ones.

God forbid you ever got the better of her in a debate or proved one of her points wrong. She would literally mess the thread up with personal attacks and vitriol until it was shut down and buried.

A large chunk of the Dragonmount community mainly only posted here because Terez made posting at Theoryland a nightmare. The mods here like Luckers and company didn't let her get away with it anywhere close to what she did at TL.

You don't have to take my word on it. Do some more digging and see what other old time posters like myself say.

I can honestly say that Terez is by far the worst person I have ever dealt with in WoT community in my almost 20 years of posting or 35+ years of reading the series. No exaggeration.

As far as the others you mentioned. Luckers was about as fair as you can get and had enjoyable posts. Suffice to say in the end, he was not a fan of how Sanderson tied up the series and I'll leave it at that heh.

Suttree had his good days and his bad. He was fiery and sometimes you needed to give him a minute to settle down but generally a good poster as long as he wasn't cheerleading for certain other posters.

Mr Ayers...that's a whole different animal. Too much trolling and too little reading comprehension imo. His hair could be on fire and he would deny it if you pointed it out first.

He's another one that digging deeper into his posts will reveal all.

Now, don't get me wrong, I wasn't always a boyscout either and needed to take a minute or two like Suttree to reel in but I least tried to keep it respectful and honest.

Thanks for any information you can provide! hot games

I don’t think many of them are still active in the fandom spaces the way they were during the late Jordan / early Sanderson years, unfortunately. Terez pops up occasionally through old Reddit posts or archived theory discussions, but she seems to have stepped away from regular forum activity quite a while ago. Luckers more or less disappeared from Dragonmount after his old farewell post about real-life commitments, and I haven’t personally seen much from Suttree or Mr Ares/Ayers in recent years either. ()

Honestly, that whole era of WoT theorizing felt very unique. Dragonmount, Theoryland, WoTmania, and the old forums had a core group of insanely dedicated posters who practically treated the books like academic texts. Even when people disagreed with them (sometimes fiercely), posters like Luckers, Terez, and Suttree really helped shape the culture of theory discussion back then. A lot of those conversations are still fun to reread today.

My guess is most of them simply moved on with life once the series ended and the daily theorycrafting disappeared. The fandom itself also shifted heavily toward Reddit, Discord, YouTube, and social media over the years, so the old longform forum style mostly faded away. Still miss those days a bit, honestly.
