“I say press on. We can hardly be any more rested as is and there’s no point in wasting time and giving the Shadow chance to realize we’re here.” Jaydena nodded, "I agree, I think we need to get as much ground behind us before we stop for the night as possible. These are our warriors and Aes Sedai and they can press on through any conditions. Thank you for your opinion Estel." She bowed her head slightly to the other woman and walked her horse over to talk with each of the other Aes Sedai on the trip. She got an opinion from each of them, just to make sure everyone was happy, no use in causing probems with those she would be doing battle with, they needed to work as a team and not as enemies. Turning away from Cema she called the company to a march and then made her way to the middle. Time passed and she lost herself in thoughts of what they would encounter.

Jaydena walked her horse quickly down the rode with the some of the group before her and some of them behind her. They didn't dare let anyone know who they were, so their White Tower banners weren't flying, in their glory. She eyed the group ahead of her to make sure no one was flagging and then twisted in her saddle to observe the group behind them. Everyone looked like they were ready for whatever came their way and she was happy to see it. Tomorrow or the next day, they might end up lying dead on that battle field. Yet again she would watch as people she knew ended up bloody on the ground, fighting a battle that so many didn't even know existed. They looked at Trollocs and Fades as a myth, something that didn't really exist. In fact something they used to scare their children when they misbehaved. Oh but she knew they were real and she had lost far to many of those she cared about, to their deadly blades and snapping teeth. She turned and looked at her warder riding beside her, would it be Cairma she lost today or would it be Raisa. Would she watch as another gaidin fell to the blade of the slopes of that evil land.

A shudder passed through her and she spoke to Cairma, "Do you think we should stop for the night or press on through the night, it's getting dark and I am concerned about injuring a horse or the person riding it. I also don't want to announce ourselves to everyone to weaving floating lights of any kind? Your thoughts?" She looked back over the landscape in front of her as she waited for her gaidar to speak. Would this very ground be the scene of a battle or would they actually make it into the nation of Kandor. The Tower had gotten some word of what it was like within that Nation with the shadow under control and she felt saddened for the children and women who had been made into fodder for Trollocs and sport for Fades. A gag rose in her throat at that thought but she kept her serene expression and turned as Cairma began to speak...

Cema sat astride the dark skewbald stallion looking over his inward curved ears. She had talked to Jaydena earlier as the other green had made her way around, aparently then all had agreed to press on. It suited her just fine, most of the time riding anonmyously in row with the others, but every now and then riding out on the heal of Nuitari as he strayed of too scout. It wasnt that she had a real need to follow him anymore as much as scouting for crows or ravens, the vermin who could report back. Not all of them bound of course, but she had found through out the day a handfull who had seen the flame on her shawl before lifting of though staying beneat the roof of the forest so as not to be spoted.

Now it was nearing dark though, hopefully they would stop for the night, not only cause it would buy time. Odd as it was Cema had an affection for animals, and the last thing she needed was the horse to overstep in the dark. If he grew lame here so far from home she would have to sell or put him down due the situation. It wouldnt be a crisis she already had him breed and a daugther and son both was resciving training, yet such a waste and he had served her well so far.

She petted his neck absentmindly, many good years left should he survive this strife. Her eyes glanced soutwest towards forest, Nuitari was coming back from another round. Then her eyes moved forth to see what would happen.

ooc um lets get this going i guess again

Travelling through a gateway always made Cairma uncomfortable. Even after allt he travelling during her pregnancy, the One Power never settled easily with her. The un-natural power that was invisible to all but an Aes Sedai's eye. No it was not something that she would rather live without. They were not far from the city of Kandor and were riding well into the night. Their pace was steady and there showed little sign of fatigue beyond the given hour. Not prone to much sleep, Cairma was awake and aware.

Unfortunately, the bond kept her increasingly aware of the concern that arose not only in her bond-mates thoughts but also in the rest of the company that travelled with her. However the concern she felt in the bond was one that reflected more on an outcome than what was within, and so she left it alone. Instead she kept the concern focused on her Company and those that were under their charge. Sitting high in her saddle, she would not let them know that she worried about not returning home to her son. She would be the strong one. If she failed she knew it would be her death. So she believed she would be back home with Jamie in her arms, and that was simply it. Focused and determined. Then Jaydena broke into her needless thoughts.

"Do you think we should stop for the night or press on through the night, it's getting dark and I am concerned about injuring a horse or the person riding it. I also don't want to announce ourselves to everyone to weaving floating lights of any kind? Your thoughts?"

Cairma gazed back and forth for a moment before smiling to Jaydena. "We are not far from our mark. If we arrive in the dead of night they will not see us coming and it will be at our advantage."

"They will know the area better than us." Cairma nodded to the incoming voice, a Lt. Jasen.

"I've spoken with many and most have been posed in Kandor or the general area at one point in their training, save a few. We will not be at any more of a disadvantage as they. We will be the Order to their Chaos."

Jasen nodded with satisfaction. Leaning over with a smile, Cairma placed a hand on Jaydena's shoulder. "We will show them the strength of the White Tower, won't we."

Before Jaydena could speak, a riding was heading back to them.

"The Gates are ahead, what are the orders?"

Everyone looked to Cairma. Burn Brand and his bloody appointing. Burn him and his goose grubby..... She continued to swear against the Commander of the Guard as she nodded to the rider. "Bring everyone around the gate, send the first company to scout the perimeter. We attack once all our bases are set, by my word." The man nodded and rode back.

"Send the word to sharpen the swords, for the light, May Kandor be taken back."

"For Kandor." - Lt. Jasen.

For Kandor.

Light, how had he ended up here?  It seemed like just yesterday he was gambling his way between cities, playing with the local girls, then heading on to the next town, village, or city in their path.  His wandering feet had taken him far and wide with the family caravan, but he had never expected this.  Who that knew him ever would have?  Ursana Tahn Sakhr... man of the Guard?  Probably the most unlikely calling for a young man that had never cared much for anything other than his family.  of course, that was what had gotten him here in the first place.  Family.  His sister to be more exact.  Rosheen was in Kandor somewhere and though he never actually thought he'd see her before this whole thing started, he had still hoped.  Hoped that she would find them in their war and bring with her the Aes Sedai that had been sent after her.  Oh, he knew about her well enough.  In fact, he'd asked her to pass his concern on to his sister.  He'd made a foolish error once, in trying to spy on Aramina Sedai because of his former mentors attachment, but he'd never spoke to her until that day.  Cold as she had seemed, she had taken his words and promised to find his sister.  It had been more than he'd expected.  He'd honestly expected to be told to stay out of her business, but then again, after other meetings, he had begun to realize his opinion of Aes Sedai was quite a bit more on the inexperienced, frightened school boy variety.

Still, his eyes scanned the world around him, looking for signs that his sister would come through.  He shook his head.  No, if Rosheen showed up it would be in the middle of a battle when all things were looking bleak and she'd come just in time to turn the tides.  He smiled, even as he thought it, knowing it for the childish beliefs he had once held.

Even as he said it, word began to spread.  First company to scout the perimeter.  Light blast them all, he was going to get himself killed.  The second thing to hit him was the sudden rush that no matter what happened next, he'd have done something... he'd have done something important with his life.. not just hidden behind a wall as the world rushed by, but he'd gone out to protect something.  Ursana Tahn Sakhr.  Man of the Tower indeed.

Her warder looked around her for a moment as though checking out their options and then smiled at her, "We are not far from our mark. If we arrive in the dead of night they will not see us coming and it will be at our advantage. They will know the area better than us." Jaydena nodded and looked back as Jasen rode up beside them, he bowed her head to her in respect and then spoke in a authority filled voice, "I've spoken with many and most have been posed in Kandor or the general area at one point in their training, save a few. We will not be at any more of a disadvantage as they. We will be the Order to their Chaos." He nodded as though very proud of himself and his Guards, and Jaydena supposed he had a right to be, they were on of the best military groups in the land and they never lost. Well unless lied to, tricked and trapped, as what has happened in Namandar. Someone would pay to the Creator someday for what had happened there, she had lost her love and two warder there and it had been beyond painful. She sighed, she never thought losing a warder would ever been any fun, but two at once was beyond what she had been able to handle.

She had almost lost herself but Seia had brought her back right before she ended to all. Of course then Seia had run off with little Miss Amyrlin and they had laughed as they left her alone and in love with both of them. A grimace distorted her masked face as she felt Cairma's hand on her shoulder,  "We will show them the strength of the White Tower, won't we." Before she could thank her warder and the Lieutenant a man came riding toward them calling out to them, "The Gates are ahead, what are the orders?" Jaydena nodded to her warder to go ahead and speak, ths was her mission but Cairma was in charge of the guards on her and she trusted her Gaidin's judgement and battle tactical know-how. "Bring everyone around the gate, send the first company to scout the perimeter. We attack once all our bases are set, by my word." The man nodded and rode back. Send the word to sharpen the swords, for the light, May Kandor be taken back." She heard Jasen say a final word and she echoed him, "For Kandor, may the Creator protect them and cradle them in her hands." She turned away and walked her horse toward the gates, she was ready to get this thing started and ready for this fight, it has been a long time coming. Jade gathered the Aes Sedai around her and began to speak, "Well we have arrived ladies, I am blessed to have you with me. The battle will soon begin, some of us may die but my hope is that we will all pull through this, I hate losing precious Sisters to scum like those that have Kandor. May the Light protect each of you. Do any of you have any questions or comments?" She could hear the Tower Guards moving around behind her, they didn't have long before the attack began...

*****************************************************************************

Lyssa regarded the gateway in front of her and sighed, she had been through something like this before and had listened as the bloody screams of people she had grown to love and had trained with had echoed from it. That has been a waygate but this didn't look that much different, and she was going to half to step into the unknown again and hope they didn't all die. Ohhh well she trusted Jaydena Sedai, the woman wouldn't have led them to her death and her Mother wouldn't kill her, no matter how much the woman hated her or was disappointed in her choice of companions. Turning toward the group that was behind her she walked forward and through the shimmering wall, it was like stepping through a wall of wet ice. However it was done before it has really begun and she was standing on a platform of some kind, all around her was darkness beyond any she had ever seen. The platform was the only light around them, she walked forward and took her place with her hand on her sword.

Soon everyone that could fit has filed in and they were moving, you couldn't tell really other than a slight shifting beneath her feet and the feeling of wind whistling past them. A very short time later they arrived at another opening and the disk they were on slide to a stop, she walked forward as part of the leading group and took her place to defend the Aes Sedai. Her blade was drawn and stepped out into the Borderlands ready to take on anything that came her way. Just let a Trolloc mess with her in the mood she was in. She chuckled and ran off to scout the perimeter of the gateway, when she saw it was clear she headed back and saw the second group coming out of the doorway. It closed behind them and they begun to move toward their goal, she knew they would be taking on the shadow tonight. A fierce grin lite her face and she climbed onto her horse and began to take her position. They traveled for some time before they reached a city in the dark. She was part of the first company and she began to scout the perimeter.

Nerves fluttered in Estel’s stomach, metaphorical butterflies raging a war that would never match the one she had suddenly found herself in.  Blood and ashes, she was no flaming Green to run charging at a horde of Trollocs, sword in hand, screaming curses.  She was Blue, she worked from the shadows, tripping the enemy up and hitting them while they were down.  Battle was something better avoided than met head on.  For all her seventy-odd years of service to the Tower this was her first full-out war.

She felt a strong hand on her shoulder and she moved closer to him, leaning against his strength but not daring to embrace him in public despite wanting to lose herself in his body and forget the impending battle hanging heavy over all their heads.  Holding his hand, a physical anchor for the nerves which threatened to name her craven and urged her feet to return back to the safety of the Tower, the two walked up to the town’s walls, surveying the vast emptiness of the Kandori plain.  It seemed wrong.  This was supposed to be a Shadow-filled wasteland with Trolloc hordes roaming the countryside laying waste to villages and towns.  Instead everything seemed empty.  Was it stupid to somehow believe there would already be a Trolloc horde encamped below the walls?  She’d almost prefer that to this Light-forsaken waiting.  Blood and ashes, what she’d give for some palpable enemy upon which to expend her nervous energies rather than staying coiled up, ready to strike, straining to hold the attack back until the right moment.  This was bloody torture.  ‘Mother’s milk in a cup, this is what they call the calm before the storm?’

She watched the first company begin to straggle back from their scouting mission.  Longing to hear the news, Estel held her tongue and moved closer to where Jaydena and Cairma stood, ready to give their commands.

~Let chaos rule~

M'bela was advancing slowly hiden in bushes as she crept up and looked over the crest. By now there had been skirmishes between scout parties, to stall the tower witches, making them aware there were shadow aligned people around. She saw the movement in the bushes down bellow as a mix of lesser soldiers and trollocs where seteling into position. The battle should be starting properly soon, there was some forest ground to cover thoug, and a smaller hill before they would emerge on the field where the clash would happen.

In the hours to follow she watched as it picked up and the rest of the army got in place, slowly joining in and it all picked up. Somewhere  behind her she knew the camp was beeing torn down and wounded was beeing moved alongside camp followers. Closing her eyes a moment she recognised time being her and she let more of saidar flow into her, knowing that it wouldnt make a difference as her ability was hidden.

Around her in the hills where a handfull of dreads hidden with their own personal guard, just as those resting right behind her. At her signal they would join the battle, thoug ever moving to give an illusion of beeing more, and beeing harder for the witches to pin down. The meaning be to cause a distraction to level the battle and allowing more forces to make it out alive, along with stalling the white tower for as long as they could here on this spot. The longer they kept them here the more time the rest of the shadow forces in Kandor had to get out, and if nesicary she would sacrafise them down to the last soldier, and even some of the lesser dreads, that was not something she had spoken off thoug but for with those of higher rank who knew to get out of there if things went wrong, those to valuable to loose in such a way.

A ball of fire formed in her hands, looking around she picked her target, it would hurt men on both sides, but be clearly visiably. She let it fly and looked at earth sprouting up, bodies in the distance flying apart. It was on, and for a moment she just watched as other weaves joined in, counting them and trying to estimate who had sent which. Imposible as she couldnt trace the weaves back to creators if it hadnt been for the agreed upon first weaves for all, with a nod and a smile she satisfied checked the last of her list. A handfull new fireballs left her hands before she withdrew to move to a new location closer to the battle,  but still out of reach, just enough so that she bether could pick targets.

The sign had been given and even as fireballs trailed into the enemy troops, Draya let loose with her own power.  Water began filling lungs of her intended victims to the point of drowning while their brethren around them had no way of combating it.  Let others use the more obvious weaves, but Draya prefered to attack in ways they couldn't see or defend.  It was demoralizing and terrifying.  She never struck twice in the same spot but that had a way of causing trouble also.

She struck again and moved, being the plan of attack they had been told to take.  Attack and move.  Make them think there are more of you than they are.  Hide the weaves and invert your ability so they wouldn't find you and couldn't use the source to locate you.  It was easy enough to move on her own undetected but she tried to keep her tracks covered somewhat so that it would take a very good tracker to find her.  She wouldn't use the power for it until it was time to leave permanently.  Until then, a tracker would only be wasted resources for her enemy anyway.

The scouts had come back and reported that there were small fights taking place at the edge of the perimiter they had set up. Jasen took care of the fighting and so far there was no sign of the Power being used against anyone on their forces. The battle moved down into their area and she began to fight, she couldn’t use the Power unless she was threatened, for she had no way of knowing for sure if these were Darkfriends. The Oaths didn’t bend that far, so she pulled her sword and leapt from her horse. Cairma looked back at her from where she fought and Jaydena could feel the anger. The other woman had wanted her to stay on her horse and out of the hand to hand combat, just hitting those she could with the Power. She hacked the head from the shoulders of a Trolloc and stepped on it’s back to execute another attack on those around her, she removed the hand of one man who was stabbing at her and then stabbed the sword through his heart as he clutched his hand. Cairma was fighting her way toward her and the woman was furious about what she was doing. Oh she would be hearing about it for sure, if they survived all this. Finally, her gaidar made it over to her and Jayena shot a flameball at man who tried to stab her gaidar from behind. She glared at his smoking body, attacking from behind was bad form. Cairma spun her around and stuck her back to her’s, she quickly began to fight her back to Cairma’s back. She panted between attacks, “They have to have people that channel Cairma….it won’t be long before they attack and I am a target up there on the horse…. I think… all the Aes Sedai need to be on foot.”

Suddenly about 200 feet from her a large fireball landed in the crowd and bodies went flying in all direction. The enemy didn’t care if they killed their own people and that was a disadvantage for Light as they actually cared about those they fought with and wanted to get everyone home to Tar Valon. Moving quickly she wiped her bloody sword on a trollocs shirt and sheathed it, her hands flashed as she began to look for a clear spot to began her attacks. Finally she saw a wall of Trollocs coming from the South, she spun and began to send ripples of earth at them, fissures opened up in the earth and swallowed Trollocs before closing back up. Using her talent she delved to find the spots that would easily take the weaves and work with them. She found a pocket of water under the ground, pulling it to the surface, she heated it with another weave and sent it into the bodies of the Trollocs. Smiling through the blood she sent a large fireball in their direction, she was embracing through an angreal and she would bet they didn’t have angreals on their person and she wasn’t going to die and give them one. She could feel Cairma at her back, the woman was watching her as normal and fighting. Jade was going to make sure that her warder got home to that precious child. The ground split around her and teetered on the edge for a moment, as she started to fall into the hole, Cairma grabbed her bodice opening and yanked her back away from the hole. She glanced around quickly and traced the weave, she sent a Air Razor at the target and hoped she had killed the dreadlord. Turning around she closed the hole back up with earth and moved back into the battle…

Cema was focusing on fighting the spawn, she had no problem killing off trollocs, hideaous creatures they were. She had by now goten separated from Nuitari,  but was doing fine on her own, and knew he was capable of taking care of himself. When the first one power resistant was showed she cursed under her breath and scrambled of the horseback. Loosening the reins and wraping them around the saddlehorn she gave the stallion a swap on the ass and sent him out of the battlefield, no sence in loosing a good horse, he should stop when behind their lines in the forest, and keep around till she called him.

She was none to happy though, there was less oversigth from the ground, and more danger of ofter fasing darkfriends, to save her life she would kill them, but she didnt like it. Many would lay behind unconsious, they'd wake up later with a headache but nothing more. The aparence of her shadow kin though was a different mather, they seemed to make less then clear targets, and there was no way for her to let them know she was one of them, so she could be targeted on like line with some of her lightfriend sisters.

She frowned as another trolloc came towards her and easily lit it afire, then started to do a more complex weave of fire, air and some spirit to tie it up, forming it like a fountain out from her, aiming it towards the creatures. It was with glee she would hear the howls, then wring her nose from the smell. She wished the wind would turn, so far she had been lucky though and no weaves from the other side had come near her, she doubted luck would last forever, but for now she tanked the Great Lord for any luck he saw fit to send her way.

Beast cleaved neatly through her opposition as Cairma turned her head to Jaydena.

"What we need is to take out the Channelers before they get to us first. They have the home advantage, but if we take them out before they can us," Cairma had to stop talking for a moment as another attacker attempted to rush forward. The idiot was bright enough to leave himself open completely with the sword raised high in his rush. Not bothering to swing Beast around to slice him in too, she unsheathed her short sword and sliced him across the stomach and then re-sheathed her short sword in one swift movement. The shock in his eyes as he fell to the ground was completely ignored as Cairma moved closer to her Bonded. Frustration in her was blatantly obvious.

Dread filled her senses as she gazed around her. Unseen weaves were tearing apart both sides, and the intoxicating aroma of blood, urine and sweat permeated the battle scene. Gazing back at Jaydena, she saw the gate open. From the bond she could tell that Jaydena did not hear her, but had read her mind. Not waiting for any explanation --her bonded was her number one priority after all-- Cairma grabbed the woman's bodice and threw themselves through the gateway just as a sword swung where both Jaydena and Cairma were standing.

Gateways were made and Aes Sedai, Warders and Tower Guards poured into the thicket of Shadowspawn and Shadowsworn. Baring her sword, Cairma could not help but grin.

This was War.
