Regarding Ishy

Is there any explanation for why ishy wasn’t imprisoned as thoroughly as the other forsaken?

He was only partially imprisoned, possibly due to facing Lews Therin directly. The seals spun him out, and pulled him back in on a long cycle between each release.

 

He was behind the Trolloc Wars, and the founding of the Black Ajah, and both the fleets sent to Seanchan and Shara, along with the siege of Tar Valon by Hawkwing. He also was the one that through all of these, was the cause of the War Of The Hundred Years. Both of those events are a thousand years apart.

 

His next spinning out was the Aiel War, where he learned the Dragon, his enemy was possibly reborn through his Black Ajah.

It may have been that the Dark One gave Ishy access. The Dark One was not fully sealed away from the world, so what ever DO could touch, he transferred to Ishy.

if it were purely closeness to the surface, Bathamel and Aginor would have had more control in the world men, they were practically zombies they were so close to the surface.

Ishy was in better condition than them, he just had his eyes turn to fire by constantly weilding the Dark Force 🤷

Yes. There has always for me been a strong impression that the taint on Saidin was more than just madness. To me, Ishy always screamed a wraith, or a ghost in the first three books.

 

Agreed on Aginor and Balthamel basically being corpses at two different stages of decomposition.

 

As for the taint being more, we saw from Nynaeve looking at Rand's mind that it had dark webs identical to the compulsion she saw on that poor kid's mind in The Gathering Storm.

 

Then there is the really long winter in The Eye Of The World to take into account, which a weakening and later broken seal does not account for. The Dark One had to be touching the world for a longer period. We also see large cables coming off a number of Forsaken.

 

That always lead me to believe that the Dark One could bypass the seals and touch the world stronger when Ishy was out during the Trolloc Wars and The War Of The Hundred Years.

Thank you for your insights! I really like your observations. I’m guessing the situation was specific to ishy, meaning it wasn’t happenstance that he was the one who wasn’t fully imprisoned and not some other forsaken?
