It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

 

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

 

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

 

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

I usually check RJ's blog every few weeks to see how he's doing, but I haven't had the time to in the last few months. Through his blog I felt like I got to know him. It hurt me deeply to learn of his passing today. It is hard to comprehend that he's actually gone.

 

I just want to say I got book one seventeen years ago. I struggled through depression through my teenage years, but his books helped me get through those horrible times because I would lose myself in the world of the WOT. They still help me. I want to express my deepest condolences to his family and my God bless his soul. He will be missed.

2/11/2007 My deepest sympathies to RJ's family and friends. I am just a fan so will never know the great man personally. The greatest lose will be to the world, as god given talent like his is rare and when it is lost, the whole world should mourn.It seems almost criminal that the creator should take him back before he could complete the saga of the WOT.However, we should be grateful to have had him as long as we did, after all, he survived Vietnam and managed to enrich the world with his bravery and genius while he was with us.Rest in peace Robert, I am honored to have been spellbound and entangled in the web of your genius;The Wheel of Time.

The tears of the moment are often for the greatest source of our humanity. Where we shed one tear future generations shall shed many. The sorrow of his loss is widely felt, and i feel in my soul it is one of the most touching things to see how his life impacted all of us. We should all strive to emmulate his example.Live your dream and love your work. The wheel is not dead.+

I have read the Wheel of Time books five times all the way through. I am an avid reader, but no one came close to moving you the way Robert Jordan did. I am a ten year police officer and I have actually hung several sayings from the book in our training area, such as "Courage is not the lack of fear, but the ability to overcome it." (my favorite) The new recruits have no idea where the sayings come from, but love them because of the truth in them. I actually try to live my life like some of the noble characters from his books. What an amazing, amazing man he was. How wonderful it would be to know you reached MILLIONS of people during your time on earth. He will be missed...

The first time I read the Eye of the World I was lost in the world of the Wheel Of Time, and I regret that such a brilliant man lost his life so young. I've used his books many times in my school reports, not to mention the fact that his writings have influenced me along with another's to attempt to create my own world. The Wheel of Time is one of the greatest pieces in literature, as far as I am concerned. I do regret that it will never be complete to his deepest wishes.

I've lost a number of family members, even though I am only nineteen, so to his friends and family who read this, know that I do know what it feels like to loose a loved one, and that you truly do have my deepest sympathies.

Rest In Peace Robert Jordan, and know that you have influenced millions with your words.

It is with a sad and heavy heavy heart that I have learned of Robert Jordan's passing. Though I never knew him personally of course, he inspired me so deeply through his writing. His work gave me escape in times when there would have been none else and his words have touched me as none other have. May he who has been so fantastic, inspiring, and brilliant in his lifetime hold a place in the Afterlife as fit for him. I, along with all his other millions of readers, wish him happiness eternal and a promise that he will never be forgotten.

 

"The Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills..." You have been but woven into a new path. I will miss you.

As with all mastercraftsmen his stories could have fit in any time or genre. There was a richness and depth to his work that invites you in and then swallowes you whole. To start a wheel of time book is to surrender. There is no way to come out after you are immersed until you are finished. I could not sleep or work until I completed the last page of each new book. Each character was real and alive. They evoke parts of people we know and give insight as well as enjoyment. As his craft grew, each book became more intense. He has created a world that will live forever. There is an aching in the void he leaves. He was unique and irreplaceable.

I want to seend my deepest sympathy to the family of robert jordan's family. He was a good man and he truly will be missed, and not just for the stories he wrote.

I recently was introduced to his wheel of time searies this summer and have read up to book nine. His stories have keept me going when the times got tough. His family has a right to be proud to have know this man. for he is a modernday legend. Im sure that god has a speacle mansion prepared for his good servent. may god bless you all.

I have been reading RJ's books for the past 13 years. I have been following up on news of his medical condition and anxiously awaiting his last and final contribution to the WOT series. So, visiting this website today to find about his demise has left me shocked. How do I describe the pain of losing someone I know only through his words. RJ, you weaved fantasy for the worst times of my life and for that alone, you are family. Hope you are somewhere where you can continue pursuing that gigantic genius and gift of yours.

I dont know really how to express what robert jordans book meant to me.. i just thank you from the bottom of my heart and to know that you are at peace warms my heart... you shall be forever missed by all the hearts you warmed with your words.

I didn't read books before someone told me about this fantasy series they were reading. I picked up Wheel of Time and I haven't stopped reading since. It was a deep sadness and shock when I heard that Robert Jordan had passed on. He was the one who introduced me to a love of books and reading that I didn't know I had. This is the greatest gift he could have given me.

 

Rest In Peace Robert Jordan, you will be missed.

On the one hand I feel a deep sadness at the passing of such a great man, yet on the other there is an… attraction to leaving some questions unanswered in the books. Riotous speculation shall come to the fore. As the ending has not been written for us, we will be left to think on the words he has left us and on what the last book would have been… Some things we know. Matrim would have had to cheat in the Tower of Ghenji, the Pattern would have become loosened yet further, Alivia would somehow have played a part in killing Rand so he could be sane. (Who can say how? Balefire?)

 

Others we will never know. What became of the Sniffer? What means would the treaty with the Seanchan have been made with?

 

The story is very well fleshed out, and leaving it part-finished as is gives its own enjoyment. Perhaps it was meant to be this way.

 

I’ll still miss him, though, and his talent.

The world was a brighter place because of his presence. He was truly a giant among men, the world will feel his loss. He touched the lives of so many people and will be remembered as a great writer and great man with the amazing ability to bring joy to millions of peoples lives.

 

My thoughts are with his family and friends, to whom i can only offer my condolences.

He was an amazing man, His memory will live on in the hearts of the millions.

Thank you Mr.Jordan for the joy you have brought to my life, i will miss you.

RJ was my favorite fantasy author.

 

I went to a book signing of his, and I will never forget the strong presence he exuded. I remember being awestruck by his character.

 

He was a great man and will be greatly missed.

Just now I read that he passed away. I feel very sad, for us all, selfishly. I found his WOT story very inspiring, but also intimidating. For if you have an ambition to try to write a story, after reading the WOT books you simply have to bow your head to the master. He has done it all.

I want to express my deepest condolences to Mr. Jordan's family. Here I am, someone who has never met Mr. Jordan and he has helped me in my life in times of stress. Through his writings I found an escape from the stesses of life even if for a short time each day. In those times it was and still is a wonderful way to journey to a world that is as real in my mind as the world in which we live. I want to say thank you for that and I hope that you are at peace in God's embrace.
