Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

Ahhh, I only heard about this now. Mr. Rigney, aka Robert Jordan, was an incredible author and I am grateful to him for sharing a part of himself with all of us through his many books. He has been an inspiration to me to put onto paper the ideas floating around in my own head, and every time I re-read my much-loved copies of his books I find something I had never noticed before. He is missed.

I AM SO SORRY all over again. I have not read a book again since 1998. The knife of dreams brings all my old friends and enemies back. I am over sixty now and will read all books again in series. I await your final novel with bated breath. Please know your fan base extends across all age groups.

I love the lord of the rings, Terry Goodkind's series about the confessors and Richard, but no one excels except R. Jordan. All my love and respect, Travis Noblett

I hope you had Jesus in your mind, then the saga will end in heaven!

I have often told many people that if you think that these books of fantasy don't have any real meaning then you surely need to read them. A person can learn so much about our Lord and the way that we should all try to live our lives. The "Wheel of Time" series along with Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" and Tolkens' "Lord of the Rings" are all examples of how each of us should live in the Light.

You have touched my life in so many way. Thank you for the teachings.

May the Peace of the Lord be with you Robert and family.

Years ago, just before I was married I started to read the series. After I was married in 99 I stopped reading the series, I don't even remember where I left off. It's strange but over the years the characters are still in my head, just waiting for me to pick up a book so they can finish their journey.

Tonight I came back to this site I had saved a year back, I had this urge to find what book I left off on so that I may continue the journey of the Dragon.

I can't say more about how sad I feel at this moment to learn of Jordans passing. I have not read that many books in my life, and the main reason I started reading the wheel of time was that someone handed it to me.

I feel such a need now to start reading the series again, as soon as I can afford to purchase the books I am going to start reading the series again from book 1.

Although it has been months, my prayers go out to all those who were close to Mr. Jordan. You must be so proud to have his work touch so many.

I have just read of the death of Robert Jordan, my husband is the one who bought me the first book of the Wheel of Time series, when we started dating in 2002, since then I read them all and always looked forward to the next one. I knew of Mr. Jordan's illness and was praying for him and hoping for a good outcome. Sadly that was not the case and I am so sorry for his family's loss. We will never find out how the series ends but we sure did have one hell of a ride getting this far thanks to his wonderful story telling. May he sleep in peace and may God keep him safe.

As readers we may mourn the passing of a favourite author, but it is nothing when compared to losing one's own. All there is right to do is to extend my heartfelt sorrow at Mr. Jordan's passing for the sake of his loved ones and offer a prayer that they may find comfort and healing.

It is not for those passed that we grieve, but for the spaces they leave in our lives and hearts when they go. There was a time when Robert Jordan was not in the world. That time has come again. I am grateful for having lived while he was in it - even though I only knew him through his writing.

May blessings and love be ever with his family and loved ones. The rest of us have been left with a world in which his powerful, poetic voice will always resonate telling a story without end. A mighty gift, that.

It's very strange how different facets of people's lives can touch one another so easily and grandious with words and story, and yet I find that Robert Jordans writing did just that. I've read thousands of books and to always have one author stick out in my head, the way Robert Jordan did, is truly remarkable and an acknowledgement of just how astounding his work was.

You can't imagine the sorrow I feel for his family, fellow writers, and readers. My condolences to everyone who had a chance to experience the way a true master can express his imagination in mere words.

I find myself feeling grief, even though I've only known the man through his literature, and thus I can imagine what the ones closest to him feel.

Death is a sorrow filled time, but I've always thought it was the one last and greatest adventure that every human has to take; and so I wish him well and may those who loved him find solace in his words, passion, and obvious love he had for his friends and family.

Truly a literary genius has left us.

I spent a few months reading The Wheel of Time. A good author can make the characters real to you, a death is an emotionally draining experiance if the character was developed properly. The death of a good author is even more so in this respect. This death is sad, but we can not let this monumental tragity dull our lives. Mourning is never the answer, remember him and buy his books so that something of him will go on into the future, but never be handicaped by your sorrow.

I have read Tolkien, The "Chronicles of Thomas Covenant". And many other epic fantasy series and sci-fi series. Robert Jordan was the best. I read the first book. When the 2nd came out, I re-read the first and second straight thru. I collected books 3, 4, 5 before going back and re-reading one & two & then 3, 4 & 5. I re-did that process at book eight. And again at 10.

So I have re-started reading the series 5 times. I have been waiting for the "last" book to start over again. I have been sitting on the last two books not having read them yet. I guess I will go ahead and start over again now and read them all thru as one great long story. They seem to get better each and everytime I read them. Robert Jordan, I will sorely miss you. You were the best.

I am just 13 but I have read the first 10 of his books. I love and have enjoyed them so much so when my Father (who has also read the books) told me that Robert Jordan had passed away I couldn't hope but be upset. One of my dreams was to go see him but I guess that will not happen. I am sorry to all his family and close friend. He was a great man. He was my hero and he was the best author. His books were so deep, it was amazing one man wrote it. I thank him for the amount of work he must have given to every sentence.

My best wishes for his family and friends. If you are anything like Robert then you can pull through. Let the light be with you.

I first read one of RJ's books about 7 years ago, when my boyfriend was so tied up in the WoT series that he'd bring the books on DATES. I had to know what was so special about these books that they'd take so much of his attention... Since I first picked up his copy of Eye of the World, I've been hooked. I can't get enough of RJ's world, of the people and places he created so vividly, I almost expect to find them on a map one day.

As for THIS world.... It will be quite a long time before someone can match RJ in the depth and creativity he had hidden away in his mind... if anyone can EVER match it. He will be greatly missed by millions, myself among them.

There are no words I can think of to describe how I felt upon hearing of Robert Jordan's death. I am rereading Wheel of Time again in memory of him, and I get teary eyed easily when I remember that such a great writer has left us. After I finish each book I have to sit for a moment and ponder on his amazing writing ability and how the world has surely lost one of its best authors. It warms my heart to know he left peacefully, and in the company of his loved ones. I only wish I had had the chance to meet such an amazing man. You will be forever missed...
