Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

I just found out today that RJ is gone. My first reaction after reading that he's gone was shock. I just cannot believe that someone who has been around for most of life has passed away. I kept thinking about how his work has brought me into a new world, how he transformed my life. I am very sorry that a great person is gone, and i extend my condolences to his family. Thank you, RJ, for giving me a whole new world to explore.

I just recently found out about Robert Jordan's death. I must say that I am saddened for his passing. I wish to express my condolences to his family and loved ones. With his passing, a light from this world has vanished. However, he and his work will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of his family and readers, continuing to shed light unto this world, for years to come. In a sense, he will never truely leave us. Thank you for the light you brought us.

God Bless,

I heard just a few days ago that RJ has passed and I am still in shock. Such a great author and so full of life. Bet he was a wonderful character to say the least.

I'm sad. Readers everywhere will miss him and how for and ending to WOT. Maybe the editors will publish it. I dunno. Sad. My condolences to his wife and family.

I was sitting in the lounge waiting for my kids to get out of therapy and reading a September issue of EW when I was reading the deaths section and saw Robert Jordan. My heart truly sank and it has upset me that a author that has inspired me so much has died.

My heart goes out to his family.

There isn't enough words I can say to the man who shared so much with the world. He will be missed.

i am truly sad as everyone else about the death of such an amazing author as RJ. i found out several days after his death from my aunt who i had just gotten in to the WOT series. I am interested to see how the last book will end. i have heard that he told his wife how to end it, and that she will be finishing it up for us.

May the light shine on him and the creator shelter him

He created a world like no other, then shared himself and his world with millions and made it real in the hearts and minds of us all.

In the turning of the wheel, the tears at his passing will become the smile at the memories, but the wind shall flow ever on

I didn't know Robert Jordan, but I hope the last book gets finished as I put a lot of time and money into these books and don't want to get copped out.

It doesn't seem fair that a man of such talent and vision should be taken so early. However his life like his books has been a testament to the loving hand of a caring Creator. In that spirit I hope that his soul will rest in the light and the Creator will welcome him home.

I'm a little late in hearing of his passing, only seeing today in November, but I'm deeply saddened. This is, in part, one of my biggest fears, to live a shorter life than my work. I heard the estate plans to release the last book, but I'm sorry for the family. May his energy pass on to our hearts and our lives. Thank you, RJ, for everything you have given us.

I only just found out also. My heart goes out to his family - RJ's books brought light to my life and helped me escape the day to day. I can only imagine how special he was to those closest to him. The wind blows, the wheel turns... he lives on in his writing.

Thankyou

As always i am saddened by RJs passing, and davo's comment angered me, we all want the last book, but what a selfish comment.

What can I say, I never knew him personally, but I have all of his WOT books and they are without doubt the work of a true master. The vision he showed me has inspired me to try my hand at writing, and whilst I am still only a beginner it is my hope and belief that I will one day write a novel that I can be proud of. I believe Robert Jorden was and still is an inspiration, and what greater legacy can anyone leave in this world. My condolences to his family and wife for their loss.

I only learned yesterday that RJ had passed on and have found the news very upsetting. RJ created a world through which I, and I am sure many other readers, could escape and explore humour, love, tragedy, and how strange women are.. He has, in his shortened lifetime, acheived more than most three men could together and his family and friends should be proud to have been part of his legacy.

Thank you RJ, you will be deeply missed by all.

I have learned of the most unfortunate passing of the man who truly introduced me to a world of wonder and beauty, of universal principle and companionship. Wheel of time was a companion to me during my years as a troubled and alienated youth. In the inspired works of Jordan, i have been comforted and found even peace and reassurance that hope will always prevail, that good will overcome evil. I grieve the passing of the master, the dragon, who by our God's grace has found peace and healing from his earthly suffering. My prayers and condolences to his sweet Harriet. RJ lives on through his work and also the epic world he has created in THE WOT. My blessings to you all and to his loved ones. I will continue to read and reread the series i have purchased and share this magnificent story with all who will hear. JND

To RJ's family and friends

It is with sorrow I have just heard of RJ's passing. My thoughts and prayers go to you all. A huge hole has been created in your world that can never be filled, it doesn't have to be! I found that with the passing of my own father it was an enormous comfort to sit and remember all the good times we had rather than focus on what we have lost. The postings here go to show how deeply mr Jordan has effected so many people and how much joy he spread in his writing.

Mr Jordan you will be deeply missed by many thousands of fans from all over the world. My you Rest in Peace

Thanks for everything RJ, you were part of a few authors who sparked my love of reading. I can't thank you enough for that. I remember writing book reports on your books in middle school. I've been reading everything I can get my hands on ever since.

Having heard of his death only yesterday I feel a great loss. My condolences to all RJ's family.

I never had the opportunity to meet the man, but I feel he must have had many of the attributes of his characters. We all wonder what impact we will leave on this world at our demise. With Robert Jordan many people have been moved by his works and many more will be in the future. I always looked forward to the next installment of the WOT series and I'm pleased to hear of the notes he left. I am sure that in time we will have the final book in our hands and many more memories that we would not have had RJ not been with us.

Again my condolences to RJ's family and please be at peace knowing he impacted so many lives with his life's work

Prayers and Heartfelt Sympathies to Harriet and Family.

RJ was the best writer of works I've ever read. The level of detail described put me in to his world so completely. I treasure every volume of WOT and have read and reread over and over again. Though I read other books, I always come back to WOT and dont find satisfaction in anything but WOT. He will be missed forever.

The Wheel of Time has turned and an age has come and passed, an age like this has never been before nor will be again, but it was an age to be remembered. We will always remember you RJ. Thank you.

We all mourn the passing of a man whose works have become part of many of our lives. Robert Jordan’s writing was such that one could get lost in the world that he had created and connect with his characters in a way never before seen. All of us are bound to find the person that they are and the person that they would most like to one day become. In each of us there is a little bit of Rand and Lan, of Perrin and Mat, of Elayne and Nynaeve. I can speak only for myself, but the work that Mr. Jordan has performed in his writing has taken me to a land of magic and mystery - a singularly spectacular existence that for a time renders a normal life drab and colorless. We are all fortunate for having been entertained for so many years by a world that shows that honor can truly exist, if only in our imagination.

Thank you Robert, for all of the memories that you have given us with your lifetime of dedicated work. Thank you for the sacrifice that you made in the service of your country. Thank you for all that you have done.

I am stunned at the loss of Mr. Jordan and am empathetic at the pain his family is enduring. I endure it with you in mind and spirit. His stories have touched and affected my life in ways I could possibly compile into words. Robert Jordan has left a legacy of story telling and world shaping that has influenced the lives of many other writers, including myself. Godspeed to you Mr. Jordan and to you as well Harriet Jordan. Without a doubt, he is in the warm and joyous embrace of our Father. Thank you Mr. Jordan for the gift you've given to me and to others. The gift of sharing your imagination to help us forget or redirect some of the nonsense that is daily life. Thank you and bless you.
